  • "My fiancee and I had booked another lodge about 30 mins from this one and due to it being wholly unsuitable for people to stay in we were forced to find somewhere else or go home."

After couple of hours the team at sykes, who were amazing and bent over backwards to help us, had managed to contact the owners of Ash Tree Lodge. They agreed to allow us to stay 4 nights with 45 minutes notice. The lodge is set in the beautiful countryside on the outskirts of york, less than 30 mins drive from the very centre. There is everything you could want and need there for you with a co-op 5 mins down the road. There is a local pub called The Three Cups and their service and food is second to none. We went twice! There was a power cut on our last night which was due to a thunderstorm, the owners did everything they could and kept us in the loop all the time. The Lodge itself is beautiful. Extremely spacious inside, superbly well equipped and spotlessly clean to boot. The crown jewel and what made our weekend perfect was the hot tub. This was set to the side of the lodge and it was perfectly secluded and private. You could make it as intimate an experience as you wanted to and not be disturbed. The view of the heavens in the late evening and night from the tub is breathtaking. This is definitely the place to book and we are seriously considering coming back here for our honeymoon.

  • "Only problem was the leaking gutter right over the front door."

Didn't affect our stay too much, just had to dodge the drips and avoid the ice on the decking.

Thank you for your feedback, apologies about the drip, if you had let us know I could have had somebody fix it for you. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Wold View Holiday Park Property Owner

Location is ln a field facing another lodge a reasonable distance away but no scenic views which some lodges we have been in have. The traffic noise could only be heard outside the lodge and was not bad at all. Access to york is very good with the park and ride just 5 miles away

  • "The lodge had everything you needed."

The double bed was hard. The hot tub was not so good. There was a couple of issues which was dealt with straightaway. It was near a fairly busy road so constant traffic noise, there was some hedging and trees between but you could still heard the noise. The lodge was of good size lots of space around it. Just a shame the weather wasn't better but that's nature for you. The dishwasher didn't clean properly.

Very welcoming by becky showing us to our cabin. The only thing I would like for next time is that my wife I visually impaired and the lighting outside the cabin wasn’t very good.

  • "The lodge was immaculate, super clean and just perfection."

It's nicely set away from other lodges, which was a blessing for us with a toddler running round. Beautiful views to wake up to in the morning. The hot tub was also very relaxing. If I had to be super picky, my only suggestion would be abit of WD40 on the squeeky door handles (it woke our toddler up) but thats literally the only thing I could pick out. We will 100% be staying here again! :-)

  • "Lovely break, great lodge for a family!"

The only down side was the double bed was very small, I’m 5’1 and could touch the bottom of it. But regardless very comfortable, perfectly located and everything you could possibly need was provided! X

Hi Kelly, Thank you for your feedback. The double bed is a standard sized double, no shorter than any other bed so not sure why it felt shorter. Glad you had an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

  • "We have a wonderful week away with our toddler at Ashtree Lodge."

The Lodge was extremely spacious and very well equipped. It feels very secluded and private with lots of land around the Lodge. The hot tub is very well taken care of and lovely to wind down after a long day. Would recommend this lodge to couple or families who are after a mix of relaxing and days exploring. We had lots of days out and it is perfect for visiting York, Scarborough, Bridlington and we even went to the Deep in Hull on a wet day. The owner Becky was fantastic and all the information you need provided on an online manual. Perfect October trip for us Thank you!!

  • "This is a really pretty holiday cottage, in a great location for exploring the coast, York and the moors."

The cottage was really clean and well equipped, and Beccy was very helpful. The shower in the en suite bathroom was brilliant, and the hot tub was just wonderful and a real bonus. The cottage itself is really spacious and lovely to relax on the decking out the front. The only issue I had was that the mattress in the double bedroom was uncomfortable (quite hard and I'm guessing cheap). My other half slept, but as I am prone to back problems, I struggled to sleep properly and it did detract for me.

  • "We have had a fantastic holiday at Ash Tree Lodge."

It was very clean, perfect quiet position on the site & well equipped with everything you would need for a perfect stay. This included plenty of kitchen equipment, washer/dryer, dishwasher & of course the amazing hot tub. There is also plenty of storage space in the walk in wardrobes in the bedrooms. There was some road noise at night as stated in the site description, but it didn't bother us and we are used to a very quiet location at home. The hot tub was fantastic and well looked after & maintained during our stay. The area is beautiful with some amazing places to visit. In the little village of Stamford Bridge we enjoyed meals at the New Derwent Bistro and at the Three Cups. We also had great takeaways from Stamford Pizza and the Chinese. We have had wonderful days out at Bridlington Bird of Prey and Animal park (make sure you stay for the 1pm bird show if you go there), Whitby, Scarborough, Flamingoland, York & many more. There is so much to see and do in the area you will not be bored. We would not hesitate to return to Ash Tree Lodge or the area. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Location is down to the individual on how close you want to be near York, it suited us. The only major negative for us was the leather settee wasn’t very comfortable & could of done with more cosy furniture to relax in. Overall a fantastic lodge (one of the best ones we have stayed in) with a nice hot tub to use.

About the location

York 8.5 miles.

Stamford Bridge, as its name suggests, was a fording point over the River Derwent for a Roman settlement. Nowadays, it is a village with a selection of shops and restaurants and is notable for a renovated railway viaduct, which is now used as a cycle and public footpath. The village is well known as the site of the Battle of Stamford Bridge on 25th September 1066, which marked the end of the Viking era in Britain. Within easy reach are the pretty Yorkshire market towns of Malton, Beverley and Driffield and within an hour’s drive is the unspoilt coastal resort of Filey with open beaches and the nearby RSPB nature reserve at Bempton.
