“Everything one needed on arrival was provided by our gracious hostess Carol, in this well appointed and comfortable cottage.”

The serene location is far enough away from the highway but close enough to neighbouring villages and the interesting seaside towns of Staithes, Whitby and Saltburn by the Sea to provide us with days of recreation. The serene location is far enough away from the highway but close enough to neighbouring villages and the interesting seaside towns of Staithes, Whitby and Saltburn by the Sea to provide us with days of recreation. A day touring the Yorkshire Moors and another on the train from Whitby to Pickering and return in perfect weather made for a memorable week. The only disappointing aspect of the accomodation was the disconcerting noise from the floorboards, made when walking around, including carpeted areas. One did become accustomed to it but nocturnal visits to the toilet invariably disturbed the sleep of the other! Otherwise, wonderful!

Osbourne House Farm Cottages

Moorsholm 2 miles. These three splendid red brick semi-detached cottages are nestled in rural moorland, on the owners' smallholding, two miles from the small village of Moorsholm in the North York Moors National Park. Set all at ground floor level and finished to a high standard, these three barn conversions have ample parking and wide doorways with easy access. The cottages all have a light and airy open plan living area, with oak flooring, a lovely kitchen and quality furnishings, along with a modern electric fire that creates a warm and cosy ambience. The bedrooms are tastefully styled, with the smaller properties boasting their own en-suite facilities, whilst outside, each cottage has its own small private patio with furniture plus there are communal lawned grounds that guests are welcome to use from where exceptional, panoramic views of the open moors can be seen. There are a network of public footpaths from the doorstep which lead through beautiful countryside and the nearest pub is only a mile away. The elegant, former Victorian spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is just nine miles away and has wonderful, long sandy beaches, its original pier and a wonderful cliff cable car lift. Pretty ornamental gardens lead from the beach to the attractive town centre, complete with art galleries, cafes and restaurants, and there are bracing, cliff-top walks along the Cleveland Way which follows the coastline for many miles. The popular historic port of Whitby is a short drive away, with its famous abbey overlooking the pretty town and quaint harbour.
