  • "A fabulous cottage, very well appointed, comfortable and in a great rural location."

The owners were so welcoming and helpful and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect all the time. The welcome baskets were lovely. The view across the Vale of York with York Minster just visible, especially when the sun reflected on it, must be one of the Greta British view. Convenient for the Yorkshire Dales and Moors as well as Harrogate, Knaresborough, York and Leeds. Some lovely local walks especially down into Spofforth village. Close to 2 good farm shops (Fodder and Crimple). Can’t recommend these cottages high enough.

  • "A lovely well appointed cottage near to many local attractions."

The only problem with the location was the stone and gravel long driveway to reach the property, resulting in very dusty laden cars.

Also milk and butter in fridge. Garden was a good size. Parking good with car electric charger. Downstairs bedroom could be improved with darker curtains to block out the light. No stair gates making it tricky with babies and dogs going upstairs.

  • "Shepherd's Crook cottage was comfortable, clean and spacious."

The surroundings were beautiful made all the more gorgeous because of the sheep and lambs talking with one another 24/7. We received a very warm welcome from all at the farm and this made our stay even better. Our two dogs really appreciated the beds that were provided for them. The welcome box was amazing. Would definitely go back. Thank you Carol for your care and attention to detail.

  • "Carole greeted us warmly on arrival."

The house was beautifully clean and extremely comfortable. The beds, linen and towels were of a very high standard. Even though it was cold outside, the house was always warm and cosy. Furthermore, Carole provided a delightful selection of food for us to enjoy: wine, free range eggs, milk, Bettys' biscuits, chocolate eggs, fondant cakes, coffee and tea. A really lovely place to stay in a good location for visiting interesting and beautiful sites.

The property was very well equipped, super clean, and everything appeared to be brand new. The location is excellent, very quiet yet only a few minutes drive to Spofforth don't miss the Castle Hotel, lovely food, and major roads and a choice of supermarkets. We look forward to visiting again soon.

  • "What a gem of a place."

Based on farm, this is one of 3 cottages. Clean, fresh, modern & comfortable offering a home from home experience. Everything you would need was provided right down to a rolling pin!! A fantastic hamper from Betty's awaited us, aswell as milk and butter. We had a bit of an issue getting a taxi into Wetherby to meet friends, as they couldn't find the location. Not being from the area, we couldn't really help with directions. However, sorted eventually, though the taxi driver came from Harrogate, so was a bit pricy (£22 to go 5 miles into Wetherby). Also had to walk down the farm path to main road (pitch black, but luckily we had torches). Journey back better, so tip for future taxi travellers into Wetherby - use Amber Taxis, although Leeds based they have local drivers. This is an ideal spot if you want to just hole up for a few days. There are plenty of walks into small villages and the hosts provide step by step directions (with pictures) in the very comprehensive instruction folder left for us. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again and worth the money paid. Thank you Carol for a warm welcome.

  • "Fabulous location and exactly what we wanted for a covid-safe Christmas with my mum."

Wifi isn't great as others have commented but we found that it was good enough. The welcome basket was lovely and thoughtful particularly that many of the goods were dairy free as requested. My only concern was that dogs were not allowed upstairs. This should be clearly stated before booking and, given that the whole of the downstairs is open plan, a stair gate or similar to stop dogs from getting upstairs would be helpful.

  • "The holiday cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped."

The beds were really comfy and was good having own bathroom. The sink in the smallest bathroom was blocked a bit by the big mirror. The welcome pack was great. The hob was a little inadequate as couldn't have all the rings on high at once. Was a lovely cottage and would consider staying again.

  • "A lovely very well equipped clean and comfortable cottage."

The hamper from the owner on arrival was superb - had my first Bettys Fat Rascal! Only drawback was the long gravel drive to get to the property, but got used to it after a couple of days journeying out and it became a slow amble, looking out for the Kite that lived in nearby woods. Plenty of things to see and do in the surrounding area.

Spotlessly clean and comfortable, extremely well apppointed, the ground floor bedroom and wet room a bonus for those less physically able. Nothing too much trouble for the extremely kind and friendly, hard-working owners. Ideally situated for Harrogate itself, Harewood House, RHS Harlow Carr, Bolton Abbey ( A must visit!) Wetherby races etc., plus easy access to the Yorkshire Dales. We hope to return!
