"Shouldn’t say this because as we want to come back loved everything about cottage it was fantastic we had no complaints great location friendly and helpful landlord at the brown bear great walks and location if your negative about this cottage."

"We stayed for 4 days three nights over new year."
Apart from an initial issue with the heating which was quickly rectified, we had a fabulous stay. Perfect location for runswick bay, Sandsend, Whitby, staithes. Huge property but as there was only 2 of us, we only really used the lounge and one bedroom, despite having 3 to choose from! Downstairs loo and shower are handy after a day walking, even if the extension is a little chilly in winter which is to be expected.
"Thrilled with our accommodation, near to two pubs, Fish and Chip Shop, and Butchers."
Bus stop a few metres walk away. Direct bus to Whitby or Saltburn. Short drive to Runswick Bay. All in all ideal holiday location. Only one suggestion. A Grab Rail in on of the showers would be useful for us Oldies
"Fair holme was a lovely cottage with 3 bedrooms all ensuite which is a rarity ..."
Fair holme was a lovely cottage with 3 bedrooms all ensuite which is a rarity plus a down stairs shower room The cottage was lovely and furnished to a high standard with everything thought of Parking was a bit tight but that's because we have a big estate car but also street parking for our other 2 cars Really enjoyed our stay although the weather was hit and miss but can't organise the weather We woukd recommend
"A beautiful house, immaculately clean."
Well equipped and very convenient for pubs, fish and chips, and buses. Loved our stay there.
"The property was excellent in all respects."
However, some of the information on the website regarding facilities in the village needs updating. Whilst there are two pubs, neither is open on all days of the week and only one is still doing meals. Also, the fish and chip shop directly opposite is only open for 9 hours per week on 3 evenings. The butcher shop is excellent and sells much more than meat. Having said all that, we had a fabulous holiday and will book with Sykes again.
"Lovely property very well presented/maintained and clean."
Liked the downstairs shower which we could have used for the dog (but didn’t need to). Even better if we had understood the tv requirements more eg needed our Netflix password etc. Bit strange not having terrestrial channels but not a major problem as we were out most of the time.
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Hinderwell, the cottage is in a great location and the neighbors were friendly and welcoming."
The cottage is a great space and the facilities were amazing. We found after a long days walking the sofas/chairs were not the most comfortable (this is a personal opinion). Also, the windows at the front of the house upstairs are broken so blew open wide on their own - which when returning from being out all day caused a concern regarding security.
"Our second time staying here at ‘Fairholme’ in Hinderwell, and as great as last year, thank you!"
Great area for country, coast or seaside walks and trips out and a we enjoyed a great meal out at the Badger Hounds Pub nearby, and Fish & Chips from Excelsior in Staithes too. We can thoroughly recommend Fairholme, cheers from both the Coopers & the Marshall family.
Decorated and kept to a high standard. Beds comfortable and all ensuite which is a bonus for a large family. The village is ok - 2 pubs, fish and chip shop, tea room and a butchers is pretty much what's there for locals and runswick bay is just around the corner and you can start a section of the Cleveland way from here too. (Nice walk along clifftops to Staithes) The cottage is on the main road which is busy but no problem if you are out during the day. It's a good base for visiting other areas like Robin hoods bay, staithes, saltburn and whitby.
"Spacious property, well equipped kitchen and in lovely spot with walks nearby."
Good bus route from the village. Helpful host and would book again.
"I can highly recommend this house."
It's spacious, attractively decorated and well-equipped. It's situated between the beautiful scenic coastal villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes, and it's just a short drive to Whitby and the North York Moors. A perfect location.
Perfectly placed in the village, spacious, everything my wife and I needed. Many thanks. PS. Couldn’t get TV guide to work but not important, watched Netflix, much better.
"Fantastic designer property, which feel ultra modern but extremely inviting, homely feel and very spacious."
This is a typical example where the photo do not do the property justice and the owners should be proud of what they have created as every single aspect has been cleverly calculated. Will be stopping here again!
"I think the fact that we immediately rebooked this great Fairholme Cottage in Hinderwell just days after returning from a super break, says it all !"
Lovely really comfy house in a great area with lots of walks, places to visit and 2 Pubs with good food really close by. We’re looking forward to going back to this lovely cottage.
"Perfect place to stay."
The house was beautiful. However, only enough room to park one car.
"The property is ideally situated to explore the Cleveland Way and the nearby coast."
Staithes and Runswick Bay are a comfortable one hours walk away with time to admire the many stunning views both inland and out to sea. The property is again well placed to enjoy an evening drink and a meal at the pubs in the village which are both conveniently situated to either side of the accommodation. An excellent small butchers shop which also sells a few other items (eg milk) is just across the road. We enjoyed our visit to Hinderwell.
"Faire Holme is situated in one of the most stunning coast lines in the UK."
The accommodation is absolutely amazing in terms of: a. Situation b. Size c. Internal layout and comfort d. Furnishing and style e. Kitchen and utilities + all the necessary equipment f. People in the village and the pubs surrounding for food and drink Overall we are already thinking of booking for next year. Thank you the owners for providing such a comfortable and appealing break.
"Generous sized accommodation, and an excellent location."
"The house is lovely, in an ideal place between Staithes, Port Mulgrave and Runswick Bay for walkers."
The house could do with a dryer as well as the washing machine. There is no space to dry clothes with not having a back garden. Neighbours and the Chip shop owner are not very welcoming to visitors to this house. Lovely chip shop in Staithes where you will get lovely customer service.
"We were disappointed to find the front garden and 2 off road parking spaces were one in the same."
Meant we had no front garden at all. Also the sofa bed downstairs was extremely uncomfortable and we had to buy a blow up mattress. Otherwise we loved our stay at Fair Holme.
