  • "The only issue we had it stated that it was dog friendly."

The stone floor in the cottage which was cold and slippery and gravel on the outdoor area did not suit our dog and she did not Settle all week The cottage was very clean, roomy, well maintained, with quality furniture

Shorts and tee shirts all week - in March. Nice to sit out in the private outside space, safe for the dog to go in and out too. We will be back - thanks again for everything

Considering you are high up overlooking the countryside, the goat shed is lovely and warm and cosy with everything you need within. We slept like a log on both nights. All the fresh bedding and towels provided are clean and smell lovely, shower room is very spacious and clean. Kitchen area plenty of space and work top to do all your cooking, yo don’t need anything with you except clothing and personal stuff, private garden outside the shed for more privacy, would recommend to anyone who wants a retreat, oh and Wi-Fi is spot on

  • "Had a great time at the goat shed what a beautiful location."

Plenty of lovely walks on the door step. Loved the private sitting area, great when you have a dog with you, being able to relax and not worry about the dog. The only niggle was the fridge was on the small side, struggled to fit all our food in. The only thing that marred our stay was the diesel situation, didn't travel as far as we would have liked in case we could not fill up for return journey home. Would highly recommend.

  • "Good to have our own private outside patio space with secure fencing for our high anxiety dog."

Very comfortable, nicely decorated accommodation, although could do with full size under-counter fridge, as we struggled to get all our food and drink in it. Ideally located with many walks from the door to Robin Hood's Bay and the Cleveland Way. All in all, a lovely holiday. We will be back!

  • "We stayed at the Goat Shed in October."

We loved the tranquil location of this cottage, a good walk into Robin Hoods Bay so would not be for everyone, but as we love walking this was not a problem for us. The owner was waiting for our arrival and showed us around this lovely and cosy cottage, it had everything we needed. After days out walking it was good to return to the warmth of this cottage. It is not far from Whitby and Scarborough, Aldi and Lidl were only about 5 to 10 minutes by car to stock up on any provisions. We would recommend the Goat Shed to anyone who prefers to stay in a quiet location.

  • "Had holidays with Sykes in the past always had a positive experience this time the cottage fell well short on cleanliness and left us disappointed especially in these hygiene conscious times, mainly kitchen cupboards and draws and utensils all had to be washed before use."

The location and surroundings were idiotic Shame really.

A home from home. We had a lovely stay there with our little border terrier Ralph. The Goat Shed was warn, cosy, really well equipped and the lighting amazing. It's a bit off the beaten track, but theres a pub at the bottom of the hill along with a nice little shop that's stocks everything you could need. We had a couple of lovely meals at the pub and chose to get a taxi back to The Goat Shed, worth £6 of anybody's money!!! We hope to visit again and recommend this romantic getaway.

  • "The Goatshed was a warm, welcoming, clean, comfortable and dog friendly, which is a must for our two active Terriers."

We had four days of exploring Robin Hoods Bay, where a bacon sandwich and pot of tea are a must at Tea, Toast and Post, after a coastal trek. We also covered some of the Cleveland Way and Cinder Track through Scarbourough and Whitby with a stop at the Abbey. Ravenscar WW2 look out and signal tower was atmospheric and informative. We ate at the Fylingdale Inn and would recommend this too.

Well equipped with everything that I needed for a short walking break. During my November stay it was warm, cosy and comfortable. It is situated in fantastic walking country. No WiFi or mobile phone signal (EE) which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view. I have booked another visit.

  • "The goat shed is such a perfect holiday cottage you will not want to leave!"

Kaye and Alex have cut no corners on furnishing and equipping the warm and cosy space. A king size bed and crispy clean bed linen, huge fluffy bath towels and reclining chairs in the sitting room, they have thought of everything. A pub with excellent food is just a few minutes away. The cottage is tucked into a quiet and sheltered corner with a private terrace and parking close to the door. Just a few steps away the carefully fenced dog field has wonderful views to Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby Abbey. Take your walking boots and set out from the door or take a book and enjoy the peace and quiet of the cottage. We did both and we will be back I'm sure. Thank you.

Likewise near many brilliant coastal walks, including the Cleveland Way, the "Cinder Track", and within North York Moors National Park. And of course North York Moors Railway. Expecting something quite small found the "Goat Shed" to be very spacious, warm (even in the bleak midwinter), and quite charming!
