  • "Really great cottage , extremely clean , comfortable and cosy."

Contact was excellent and quick when we couldn’t locate the cutlery drawer. Really high standard accommodation, a great stay.

  • "Very comfortable house with the added bonus of being near a railway station."

Lovely, quiet area. Visit York 10 mins on train or Leeds 19 mins on the train. Lotherton Hall very close - worth a visit. Also close are Nostell Hall, Harewood House & Castle Howard.

  • "In my opinion: The cottage is very well presented and clean and will sleep five (as listed), but the living space would be tight with five people, (2 people on our visit)."

Location was great for getting into/out of York on the train. Worth noting the cottage is on the edge of a community, with the expected day to day activities going on around.

Lots of nice welcoming touches and not loads of rules and instructions which can often be the case. Highly recommended

House is clean, modern and comfortable. Welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the kiddies were very grateful for the chocolate and biscuits, thank you!

The cottage was comfortable and nicely furnished. The kitchen was modern, well-equipped and had plenty of storage space. Good beds, pleasant sitting/dining room and nice bathroom. Handily located for local amenities (the community shop is marvellous). Great base for exploring the wider area and its many attractions.

  • "Great house, perfect location especially for train links to York."

Lovely house with a very homely feel. Beds very comfortable and everything you could possibly need was there. Lovely welcome basket too, thanks. Amazing stove which really heated up the lounge. A lovely long weekend break was had by all and would happily stay there again. Lovely playground in the village ideal for our 3, 8 & 9 year old. Only drawback was the bathroom was very cold for the children getting a bath or shower.

Cottage was lovely, very clean and kitchen has everything you would need. Hamper was a lovely touch too with great essentials like dishwasher tablets! Would recommend this cottage and certainly stay there again.

  • "My family and I have just returned from a two-night stay at the magnificent Mallard Cottage."

We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this property. The cosy and comfortable cottage is equipped to a very high standard and the owners really have thought everything, including a thoughtful welcome basket. This property is suitable for holidays all year round as the central heating kept us warm and snug in November and there is a good sized garden for warmer months.

There was a hamper of goodies left for us which was much appreciated. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with plenty of storage space for our food (which is unusual). We would thoroughly recommend it!

Very well presented. Just no matches to light the lovely fire that had been set. Son's girlfriend arrived with lighter! No hot water on arrival but a couple of phone calls later all sorted - great service. The community shop run by volunteers is fantastic! A must visit. Very quiet in spite of closeness of railway. Definitely recommend Mallard Cottage.

  • "Excellent base for a week in Yorkshire felt like a home from home."

Welcome box was a nice, and appreciated, touch. Used the village community store a few times - much more interesting range of products than you would expect (fairly priced too). Got the train to York a couple of times - great to be in the city in ten minutes. Walked the site of Towton battle in the War of the Roses - well signposted and the sotry of the day was told well. Thoroughly recommended for couples and small families.

The house was beautiful just like the pictures. Local pub and Indian restaurant were really lovely and so many places ok the doorstep made it a perfect stay for us! Special thanks to the wiener for providing the baby safe equipment!

  • "We had a lovely time at Mallard Cottage."

The village itself is very quiet, but the train station is just around the corner (which takes you to York in 11 minutes). Whilst it's outside of the Yorkshire Dale's, it's within reach - we day tripped to Bolton Abbey Malham Cove, Brimham Rocks and Harrogate and spent a brilliant day in York. The cottage itself is well equipped and modern and has everything you could need - we were almost sad that it was too warm to put the gorgeous fire on!
