  • "A wonderful stay at No."

2 Station Cottage. Comfortable and spacious. Excellent location, very peaceful. Especially loved the neighbours in the field, Charlie and Hardy (horses) and Delilah, the donkey who came for their carrotts every day. Lovely welcome package. We will definitely come back.

  • "We had a lovely week at Station cottages & thoroughly enjoyed it."

The cottage is cosy but with a large conservatory & nice garden. The boys loved feeding the horses & donkey & playing in the garden. Although the parking was on the roadside, it wasn’t a problem. The Welcome pack was very much appreciated. Thanks Rebecca, we hope to come back again. Joyce & family

  • "We booked this property last minute and wow what a place."

The views from the kitchen window were amazing. The living room was so cosy with the big sofa and log burner. The girls enjoyed there room with the bunk beds. Everyone around was very friendly. The horses and donkey made the stay even more special. Fresh eggs from down the road were amazing. Will definitely be going back again

  • "Lovely clean cottage."

Could do with a few updates. A clock on the wall would be nice. Locks on the bathroom and toilet would have spared our blushes. Maybe update pan's and accessories. A bit worn. The shower a bit of a nightmare to manage , worried in case water went everywhere!! Should be a warning about steep stairs. But all in all a nice retreat to rest and yet have easy access to all areas of Scarborough. Oh and are autistic son would have liked a 42inch TV with decent remote. Ha. Plus feeding donkey and pony everyday was a nice bonus. We were lucky with weather and would love to come back again. Thank-you for having us.

  • "I have just spent the week at Station Cottages and there are many areas of concern."

The property is advertised as 4 star. According to Sykes ratings this means it should be of excellent standard throughout the property. However it was not clean, with cobwebs full of flies, a dirty teapot with wood inside it, dirty taps and the bin had no lid. The furniture and kitchen cabinets were tired and the chairs in the conservatory were ripped as were the sheets covering the chairs. The property is advertised as having parking. This was something on our essential list and our search engine was filtered to parking only. This property does NOT have parking. There is space outside the property on the roadside which anyone can park on and infact the sign at the steps to the property states park here to use the crossing phone. Parking should be a safe place to park my car and not somewhere that tractors are passing. I feel that guests are being mislead by false advertising and I almost parked at number one as they had a drive way when we first arrived. The property is within 100 metres of a level crossing which is in operation from 7:15am and woke us all up every morning. There was 1 toilet roll in the main bathroom and half a used roll in the toilet downstairs which had no towel. It was dangerous to get off the bunk bed as have to avoid the bedside table which was right next to it and one of the metal steps on the ladder was loose and rotated which is dangerous for a 7 year old child. The light circuit didn’t work in kitchen. There was no full length mirror in the property, one small mirror in main bathroom, a small mirror main bedroom not near a plug so it was not easy for everyone to get ready. There is very little storage for clothes aka two of the bedrooms have no wardrobe (held closed by an elastic band) and just a small chest of drawers in the 2 other bedrooms which is difficult to access in the double bedroom due to the bed. There was expired beer cans in cupboard in the downstairs toilet and rusty cosmetics in bathroom cabinet which had gone out of date years ago. The property is for 6 but the table was for 4 people and it was very cramped. Couldn’t access the dishwasher or toilet if at the table. There were no egg cups and on the whole not very well equipped compared to other properties. Very little flow on hot tap in the bathroom. There were no finishing touches such as welcome biscuits, dishwasher tablets etc which are common in 4 star rated properties from experience. There was broken glass on the patio which was alarming with 2 small children. I made a complaint to the owner/ cleaning company and Skye’s as soon as I got home and provided photos but was offered no apology for any of the inconvenience which I find disgraceful when my child could have been seriously injured! I would not recommend this property unless you want to pay 4 star prices for a 2 star property.
