  • "A real home from home experience."

Central for all the things we wanted to do. Actually managed to meet the owner whilst in the laundry room... good job as I'd pressed the wrong button on the washing machine to start it !! The 2 stair cases are open step and steep, so I don't think it would be appropriate for much younger children but that is down to your own choice. Fabulous garden at Stable Cottage for children to play in and the views are fabulous . Hopefully we will be back

Beautifully developed and maintained, literally a home from home! The owners are so friendly and hospitable and we look forward to seeing them as much as the cottage! We cannot wait to return later this year and have already booked for next year. Quite simply, the best cottages we have ever stayed in and we look forward to many more years here.

  • "We had a lovely stay here."

Beautiful accommodation, clean and well equipped. The owners have thought of the little things which made it feel like home. Due to a couple of days of rain on our holiday it was lovely to stay in a cosy house without feeling as though we were on top of eachother. We walked most days, enjoying the cliff walk or walk across the beach to Robin Hoods Bay and getting the bus to Whitby. Be aware this is not a sandy beach and you do need to get your feet wet to cross the river at the bottom of the hill, even at low tide, but it is great fun exploring and rock pooling. The Youth Hostel at the bottom of the hill is nice for a hot drink and cake, they do also serve alcohol but limited choice. We had our shopping delivered on the first night, which made life easier. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a holiday here.

Lovely lawned area outside our back door and the tennis court was great fun. Warm and welcoming environment and so close to one of our favourite beaches. Great walking right out of the door.

The cottage was well equipped, very clean and cosy. The garden was lovely and there was plenty of parking. It was a nice and quick walk to Robin Hood's Bay across the beach when the tide was out. Check tide times, as the alternative route can be tough going.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is lovely in a peaceful location with a lovely garden for outdoor meals in the sun."

It took us a while to figure out the TV (I'm sure younger tech-assured people would be quicker at it) so some instructions for navigating the different services would be handy. Other than that, everything was delightful. If you're travelling with people who are older or have sore knees then make sure they have the ground floor bedroom, but the listing is clear about the stairs so we had planned for that. The walk to Boggle Hole is also steep but really worth it, and it's not far. The YHA there is great for food if you don't want to drive or cook, and at low tide it's an easy walk to Robin Hood's Bay along the beach. It's a beautiful place to stay and there's lots to see in the area.

Can’t think of anything that we’d change other than having the heating go off at 10:30 isn’t great, as I never go to bed before midnight. I also rise early so it was cold first thing…

Hi! We are sorry the heating was not set appropriately. It is possible to override the system and push it on for an hour at a time at the time control unit in the bathroom cupboard. We would have happily helped with this had we known whilst you were visiting! Property Owner

It have a lovely big garden and fully equipped with everything we could want. Just a short walk down to Boggle Hill Bay - which is quiet, stunning view out to sea and the chance to see seals bobbing their head up in the distance. Two very close cliff paths taking you to Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar within 10 - 20 mins. You do need to be aware that there are a few steep steps to get up onto the cliff paths but there is plenty of lovely scenery to stop and look at whilst catching your breath! A lovely part of the world and one we hope to return to very soon.

You can see the sea from the kitchen window. The cottage itself is really well equipped - lovely fluffy white towels, really comfortable beds and a lot of the basics provided (bin bags, tea towels, hand soap, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets). Also a good selection of pots and pans including a slow cooker and lots of crockery. The only thing I'd have liked that wasn't there is some pasta bowls. Really good sized fridge and freezer too. We had days out on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and in Whitby. Would love to return here we had a wonderful week.

  • "Stable Cottage was a great cottage, spacious kitchen and lounge dining area."

Heating warmed up quickly when required and great shower. As other people have noted, the stairs to the bedrooms are a little steep, but they are even (unlike some stone-built cottages we've stayed in). Lovely location with sea views with short walk to the beach (although steep uphill to come back!!). The walk to Robin Hood's Bay has fabulous views from the clifftop path, although the numerous steps may be a challenge for some. Beautiful, peaceful location in a gorgeous area (especially when the sun shines). This part of the coast is well worth a visit, especially if you like the outdoors, and this is a lovely place to have as a base.
