Great communication between the owner, Sykes and ourselves. Was really nice of the owner to sort out an extra parking permit and enjoyed our time at the property. The only 2 downsides were: there was no parking available in zone W so we had to pay to park on west street car park for the first two days. Did get spaces on the third day. Although this is not about the property it would be a factor in booking this property again. The 2nd is only a very slight grumble and just a personal opinion, I found the settee with the high sides uncomfortable to sit on. Other than that the place and the owners were great

The flat itself is very spacious but it's biggest positive is the location which is perfect. The owner left milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. My only criticism was that the listing mentions a washing machine but there wasn't one (unless I couldn't see it). This was only a minor issue. All in all a great flat in a fantastic location. Would recommend.

We recommend the Resolution bar for great meals at affordable prices. We enjoyed a walk along the beach to Sandsend and the steam train to Goathland. "On entering the accommodation it was fantastic."
We have stayed a few times before and it never disappoints. It's homely feeling puts us right at easy. A beautiful front room with two settees, tv, table and chairs with a fully equipped kitchen with a welcome pack of biscuits and a pint of milk which was lovely. The front bedroom is very large with double bed plenty of hanging space and sitting space. The next room is the laundry room with sink, freezer and washing machine. Then the bathroom with WC, sink and bath with shower and plenty of space. Then the back bedroom with double bed and hanging space, not as big as the first room but plenty of space to easily walk round. We enjoyed our weekday stay and have already booked to come back on the 24/2/2023 for another weekend stay with friends. Its ideally situated near the sea about 700 yards to the nearest shop and Bakery and the same distance to a pub. Brilliant location.

There was no welcome pack, this is the first place we have stayed in for a long time that doesn’t provide a welcome pack. However, there was a pint of milk in the fridge. A number of improvements could be made to make the stay more comfortable, toilet is not fixed properly and wobbles a bit, kitchen tap is awful, beds have old uncomfortable mattresses with mattress toppers, pillows are poor quality and some of the finishes were poor. Both the kettle and teapot leaked when trying to pour. Having said all that, there were plenty of pots, utensils etc, and it was a great place to stay and quality improvements to finishes etc would make it a 5 star place. My son broke the tumbler in the bathroom, I told the owner that I had left£5 to replace but never heard back from the owner, which I found a little strange.

Excellent communication with the owner and Sykes Holiday Cottages. Loved the accommodation, including utility room! Well equipped kitchen and sitting room, good sized bedrooms. Things to improve? Change the stiff kitchen tap, have hand soap and shower gel, tissues, bedding: lighter duvet/ extra sheets & throws, better pillows (softer/thinner) and easy to use key box would make this 8 out of 10 property an outstanding 10. Definitely recommend this flat and Sykes Holiday Cottages

"Lovely apartment really comfy apartment just a little few things could make the stay a 100% with just a few adjustments the bath towels could do with being a bit more on the bigger size they where lovely and soft fresh smelling bit a bit small for someone who is 6ft4 and of a big stature like myself (ex rugby union player) we had a few early wakeup with work going on in one of the other apartments below us from 7."
30 am but hey people have to fit things around their life's just that the bed was comfy just could have done with a later get up when having a holiday and not needing to be up early morning but all in all nice time nice flat lovely area west cliff and only minutes from town centre a little tip for cleaning lady the cooker hood needs looking at

It was a lovely apartment. Plenty of space. Very clean. Bed very comfortable. Rang owners regarding central heating. They were around within 10mins. Sorted. Excellent service. Very polite, friendly. Said any problems give us a ring. Definitely a bonus they live in Whitby. It was great we could take our dog. Only 10 minutes walk to Whitby. Enjoyed chilling on a evening. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. Will book again probably later this year.

"1, Church Square, what can I say, a great property in a great location and near everything you want in Whitby."
On entering the property it was warm and inviting and it had that homily feeling. The kitchen living room was large and spacious, with everything you need for your stay. The first bedroom was large and spacious with a beautiful bug window from where you could see the sea. Bed was a double and very comfy. Second bedroom was like any other double bedroom with enough space but was at the back of the property. Bathroom large with wc, wash basin and large bath-shower. It also had a washroom with washing machine and sink plus fridge/freezer. A great property and one we will be using not to soon in the distant future. Bring on our next stay to Whitby because we will definitely use this property again. (If Its Available).

The accommodation was central to the beach and Whitby front. The beds were comfortable and plenty of space throughout the apartment. The washing machine and iron were great so we could keep on top of our dirty beach clothes. We loved the fact we could have our pooch with us on our holiday. The tv gave you options to watch normal tv and Netflix. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!

"Fabulous location and property."
Everything you needed was there (except food) even down to cling film and foil. It was lovely and comfy and very clean. Great location and close to shops, restaurants and bars. I felt very safe as I was there part of the time on my own. Was there during high winds which knocked boiler out. Within 15mins of call to Fiona, Martyn was there to sort along with 2 ready mixed g&t’s as an apology. It wasn’t needed but it was a very thoughtful touch. Would I stay again, absolutely!

Maybe a couple of things to tweek and only a suggestion. Maybe table mats for the table and coaters for your mugs to be placed on. And maybe a guest book so you can express your feelings of your stay. And read what other people have thought of their stay. We have had a great stay and would highly recommend anyone wishing to stay, you will not be let down your stay. It will not be long before we are back to Whitby and we will most definitely be coming back to 1, Church Square if the price is right.

..just one slight niggle....the toilet seat was very loose( and previous reviews say its been like that for a while)...anyway it gave up the ghost n broke on our last day there...that was our only negative and really it didnt bother us too much.

The second bedroom was down a low dark corridor. It needed the light on during the day. The bathroom, whilst well decorated and clean, didn’t have a towel rail or toilet roll holder. Also, the toilet seat needed securely fixing. The single glazed windows rattled in the wind and, if the sun wasn’t shining, the lounge felt chilly and we felt the need to put on the heating. Which worked efficiently. The beds were warm and comfortable.

The furnishings are lovely, the beds extrememly comfortable and even parking discs are provided. I cannot fault it at all, we had a great holiday and would definitely book again. The only thing i would do and this is just a personal preference is put Tvs in the bedrooms.
Beautiful apartment and very well equipped. Please note for those with pets there is no direct access from the apartment to the yard. However this was not a problem as there is ample dog walking space right outside the property. Would definitely re book.

The back bedroom bed was very firm, depends on your taste. The flat was nice & light, the curtains were OK & didn't let in alot of street light at night. The flat was in a great position for walkin into Whitby proper ..took about 5 mins... you can also easily drive to large supermarket . Could easily walk to the beach to walk our dogs & great base for exploring surrounding areas. Kichen could have done with a new non stick frying pan , but when I asked the owner, Fiona, she was always very helpful. There was no where to dry clothes or towels, but her husband kindly bought round an airer, which helped. Only downside is the parking - we did get 1 parking ticket. You had to either drive around for however long it took to find a parking space - but staying somewhere in August is always going to be difficult. All in all we did have a lovely holiday

"The TV was advertised as a Smart TV which I have at home However when I arrived I found the Smart TV was not connected to either freeview or freesat so I was unable to watch general tv with the advantage of Smart TV Apps This was extremely disappointing to have such limited viewing."
With no Feeview or Freesat with or without the addition of Smart TV functions as much as everything else the flat, location etc was perfect I'll not go again

) Very close to beach and entertainment, cinema/ theatre in pavilion about 800 yards away. Main shops are about 10 mins walk.Quite a lot of dog friendly cafes/ shops. Also 50 yards away a grass area to walk dogs.( Remember clean up there mess) Car parking zone cards can be tricky if not use to them.But plenty of free car parking to the rear of property, Were you will find a leisure centre with pool and gym. The customer services team were spot on. The accommodation was absolutely amazing. The photos on the posted on the website are true photos and show exactly what the accommodation was like. I have to say this accommodation was the best I have ever stayed in. It was immaculately clean and comfortable. There was an information pack ready for us on arrival informing us of everything from local nightlife, visitors attractions etc right down to how to use the tv. The owner had even gone to the trouble of leaving milk, tea, coffee and toilet roll for our arrival.. best of all, the owner had even bought a bucket and spade for my 2 year old granddaughter. I would highly recommend the site and this particular accommodation. thank you
