The property

Lying in the heart of Whitby, The Anchorage is a historic, three-storey cottage boasting four bedrooms, traditional and original features and plenty of character.

Perfect for a group of friends, couples or family, The Anchorage is just a stone's throw from pubs and shops, as well as the beautiful Whitby Beach and many attractions.

Head into the property following a busy day outdoors and take a right off the hallway into the homely sitting room, with a beautiful ornate fireplace decorating the room, two sofas to relax on and a TV to entertain.

Discover a lovely dining room with further evidence of the property's history in the original wood panelling, with this room perfect for delicious home-cooked meals prepared in the kitchen, reached via a step down and passing the door to the small enclosed courtyard, with seating for two, it's a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee.

The kitchen comes well equipped with all the essentials and more, including a dishwasher and a washing machine.

A handy cloakroom lies hidden under the stairs, while heading up to the first floor brings you to the family bathroom and two bright and airy double bedrooms.

Climb to the second floor to come upon two more bedrooms, both singles and showcasing the rustic timber beams of the ceiling, with pretty views from one of the rooms over Whitby's rooftops and up towards the hilly headland.

Enjoy being at the centre of the action of this attraction-filled town, with shops, pubs and restaurants all on your doorstep, perfect for pitstops between your itinerary and evening drinks.

Take a walking tour of the town heading along the River Esk up to where it meets the sea, getting a picture beneath the Whalebone Arch before continuing along the West Pier and up to Whitby Lighthouse, coming back along Whitby Beach and then through the lovely Pannett Park, home to Whitby Museum.

Venture up the 199 Steps over the river to Whitby Abbey, the eerie ruins said to have inspired Bram Stoker's novel 'Dracula', and take in the fantastic views over the town and out to sea.

Enjoy a guided tour with Whitby Storyteller Guided Walks, or book a trip with Whitby Whale Watching for a scenic sea excursion.

Explore the beautiful Esk Valley with walks or bike rides, with the North York Moors National Park presenting many excellent walking areas.

Explore the coast by walking the Cleveland Way, or head off on a bike ride along the Cinder Track, a traffic free route taking you down to Scarborough, home to more excellent places to visit like Scarborough Castle, Scarborough Beach, Peasholm Park and SEA LIFE Scarborough.

Make wonderful memories in Whitby with your loved ones at The Anchorage.
