"We had a wonderful stay as a family of four (2 adults and 2 children) at 1 Wesley mews!"
Beautiful end terrace property, wonderfully maintained. We stayed for 4 nights and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Our 8year old daughter loved it so much we had tears on our final night as she wanted to stay longer! There was a bottle of wine and a pack of biscuits waiting in the kitchen for us on arrival which was such a lovely touch and much appreciated. Fantastic location in the Center of Alnwick and walking distance to the castle, gardens, Barter books and other shops. Morrisons was just across the road which made food shopping easy and we found the kitchen facilities to be brilliant with all appliances working. It was a 15 minute drive to the coast for a lovely beach stroll but we mostly loved being able to wander around Alnwick so easily. All the beds were super comfy and there was ample space for four of us to unpack our clothes. Thank you for a wonderful break in Alnwick, we hope to return soon!

"Fantastic end of terrace house in a great location, right in the centre of Alnwick."
House is in a very quiet location with no passing traffic and parking outside the front door. The house is comfortable with good quality furnishings. Close to Morrisons and many shops and restaurants Alnwick has to offer. Great location for visiting the many beautiful villages, castles and beaches along the coast. Short walk to the stunning Alnwick Gardens and Castle. Cragside National Trust well worth a visit. Bamburgh Castle and beach amazing. Good communication with the owners.

"Could have done with a set of drawers in the twin bedroom so we could unpack as small wardrobe had no shelves."
-
"Until the owner replaces the sagging double bed mattress suggest two single beds are used."
The property otherwise is an excellent base for Alnwick and surrounding areas

"We booked 1 Wesley Mews to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary, and reading the cottage reviews and seeing the pictures thought this would be ideal and, although a little more than we would normally pay, we decided to book it."
First impressions on arrival were good, roomier than we first thought, nice furnishings and warm and cosy. Very well situated for getting around and visiting the sites, and also handy for the bus station and local supermarket. However, during the course of our stay we discovered a few negative points, and to us it did not live up to the praise on the previous reviews, and would not call it "outstanding" as was stated on the website. There were several issues whilst there that needed to be looked at, and we contacted Glen, one of the owners, the day before we left. We had a problem with the mixer tap in the kitchen but managed to repair it, but notified Glen in case in needed further attention. We were asked if there was any damage and we confirmed that there was not. Whilst on the phone we also mention a few other things that needed attention. These were a toilet roll holder in the downstairs loo that was hanging off the wall, there were two chipped mugs in the cupboard, the ceiling light in the lounge had one lightbulb which never worked, and although two tea towels and one pan shiner were listed in the itinerary, we had no pan shiner and only one tea towel. The plinth under the boiler in the kitchen, which was resting on the fridge freezer, fell down every time the fridge door was opened. The grill pan wasn't the cleanest, whoever used it before us did not clean it properly, but it should have been checked anyway. Perhaps a roll of kitchen foil might be an idea. Finally, we had no change of bed linen, towels or tea towels for our second week at the property. So, after all that we have said, they are probably only small things, but it would have been nice if it had been looked after by the owners better rather than relying on the guests to look after it for them. We have booked with Sykes Cottages quite a number of times before and this is the first time we have felt the need to point out things that were not as they should have been.

"This holiday home is perfectly situated just off of Alnwick High street, with a Morrisons situated conveniently across the road, yet there is no noise disturbance whatsoever."
The house itself was well presented, clean and modern with all the facilities that you would need. A bonus was the dishwasher that wasn't listed within the description. 4 stayed in the house comfortably, 2 Adults and 2 older teenagers, there were no complaints from all throughout the stay. Alnwick is a great base to explore Northumberland with some great pubs and restaurants. We would certainly recommend this property, and we would stay again without hesitation when in the area. Thank you for the wine and biscuits, it's always a nice little bonus!

"Lovely, cosy cottage to stay in."
It was great to be 2 minutes walk from the centre of Alnwick and all facilities as well as being able to park right outside the front door. We do like to do a little cooking ourselves when we're away, so just a couple of suggestions, a pair of oven gloves would be handy, as would a bread board. Also, maybe provide a shower mat for the bath, it can be a bit slippy without one. But, minor points really, the cottage is a 10 from us, the shower was excellent, the beds were extremely comfortable, firm mattresses just like our own at home, top notch TV set up, and many thanks for the welcoming bottle of wine and biscuits, both were demolished in a couple of days!

"Very good location but manoeuvring the car in and out was tricky, glad we didn’t have a Range Rover!"
House itself was ok, small though, ok for 2 adults. No drawers in the bedrooms, nowhere to put your make up etc. Very noisy floorboards. Beds hard . Towels and bedding could do with refreshing. Warm and reasonably well equipped ( 1 dishwasher tablet !)

"Excellent property in prime location"
-
"Beautiful property, with everything we needed plus nice extra touches like the coffee machine & pods."
So well positioned - feels like you are tucked away yet it takes seconds to walk through an arch into the centre of Alnwick. Beds & lounge furniture all really comfortable and the decor is lovely. Bigger than I thought too, with a downstairs loo, coat / shoe area & decent sized kitchen. I would definitely recommend and will be booking again.

"Lovely property tucked away, very quiet but once through the arch you are into the town, plenty of places to eat and drink, supermarket and bus station nearby."
The house is well equipped and does have a dishwasher (which is not in the description), the beds are super comfortable, decor is lovely and the house was very clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

"The property is in a great location and a perfect base for visiting the Northumberland Coastal area and the National Park."
There were plenty of excellent local restaurants, cafes and bars all within easy walking distance in Alnwick, and we were spoilt for choice. The cottage had all the facilities you could need and there was a thoughtful welcome pack when we arrived. Can recommend without hesitation and would book again.

"Exceptional cottage home."
Location is key, and this incredible home has it all in abundance. Never would you think your a stone throw to a town, This home is a hidden gem! From out of the front gate turning right through the arch .. boom! Your in the town. Morrisons accros the ways less than 1 minute.. and an abundance of shops to gouge into. Including a Subway! My favourite snack. It's so quite here, you wouldn't expect it. Opposite is a church which every hour chimes and I personally found that very satisfying. The home itself,, Owners Have gone out of their ways to make sure you have everything you need. Gorgeous deco throughout. Beds are very comfortable. ( Only I myself didn't sleep well as I personally found bed too hard and gave me a sore back) But that's down to personal choice. I'm used to a Emma mattress which is soft and moulds to my body, Other two people with me , Father and his friend they both told me the beds were super comfortable. A very cosy home once central heating is on. The fast fibre and WiFi here is brilliant! You can stream anything without a problem. I brought my 4K fire stick so we could watch my sky sports/ BT sports/ Disney+/Netflix/Prime/Discovery+ and no issues whatsoever.. nice big quality 4k TV with great sound. The Owners here really have thought of everything for you. Only a phone call away should you need them and response is instant. We have had one of the best Xmas's here Alnwick is a wonderful place to go.. If your driving .. trust me you won't! Need your car, the bus station opposite.. the buses take you all up and down the East coastline. And the journeys are beautiful. Passing through gorgeous villages. We never used the car once we parked. We have been upto Berwick upon Tweed/Seahouses/ Craster/ Amble/ and other stunning places too. This Sykes home has to be in my top 3 most cottages to choose because of the home itself is immaculate! And the location and experiences are second to non. We're very grateful to the owners for allowing us into your gorgeous home. And hope you will have us back in the future. Thank you for us.

"A lovely clean and comfortable modern cottage right in the centre of Alnwick - literally a minute’s walk to Morrisons supermarket."
Everything we needed was provided and the biscuits and wine waiting for us on arrival were very welcome - thank you. Generally quiet area especially during the week. Access to the property and parking (right outside the property) was tight but manageable. Recommended.
-
"A lovely mews cottage."
Very comfortable and clean with everything you could need thought about. So central that we didn't use the car on 3 days. Would highly recommend.
-
"We were very pleased with the cottage - a good, quiet, central location with some outdoor space."
The bottle of wine that was waiting for us was much appreciated too!
-
"Stayed at this property in August 2022."
Everything spotless, evrything absolutely bang on. Property is within walking distance of shops, supermarkets, and also within walking distance of Alnwick Gardens and Alnwick Castle. Everything almost literally on your doorstep, yet location is quiet. We haven't finished with Northumberland yet - would have no hesitation staying here again and none in recommending this property for a stay.

"We had a great holiday at the cottage, one of the best we’ve stayed at."
The accommodation was excellent and literally a couple of minutes walk to the shops. Having a designated parking space was a great benefit. This is not a criticism of the holiday home, just thought I’d highlight that there is a beer garden behind the walled garden of this property but it didn’t affect our stay as the pub/restaurant was closed for the majority of our time in Alnwick. Would happily stay here again!

"A perfect little house that felt like home from home."
Immaculately presented and beautifully furnished. We loved the colour scheme. Very contemporary. It was brilliant to be in the heart of Alnwick but also lovely and quiet, being up the lane. Good to have our own parking space too. I will strongly recommend this lovely house to friends who might be visiting Alnwick in the future and will return here next time we come to Alnwick.

"We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage."
Just a few minor issues which were addressed with the owners and didn’t affect our stay. The cottage is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The location is convenient for all areas in the town and lovely beaches within a short drive. We will definitely stay in this house again when we visit Northumberland.

About the location
ALNWICK
Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.
The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
