Great bungalow lovely location by the sea Great garden for our dog clean and tidy would definitely visit again thank you x
-
"Lovely cottage."
Quite location just a short walk to the beach and pubs/restaurants.. The cottage it's self was spacious enough for Great Dane to be comfy. Every thing you need in the kitchen. Comfortable sofas and beds. Lovely clean bathroom with a great over the bath shower. Plenty hot water. The lawn in the enclosed garden could do with a cut. Not easy to clean up after the dog. Our only other issue would be the pillows on the double bed very flat. Apart from that we had a lovely weeks stay and will definitely book here again.

"Home from Home, Been Many times to this lovely Bungalow"
-
"Megstone is a lovely property very well placed for walking to the beach and local eateries."
The bungalow was extremely comfortable and well equipped and the enclosed garden is perfect for dogs. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to use Megstone again in future. The only problem was with the time Sykes took to respond to our query before our stay and I eventually spoke to the owner to get my answer.
-
"Couldn't fault this place and would definitely go back , everything was spot on , there is even a tv in the double bedroom that is not in the listing , a secure back garden for the dogs was brilliant and pubs and cafes in the village too in case we didn't want to cook ."
Already looking at booking it again...
-
"Third time staying there and it never disappoints."
Clean tidy good communication with the owner who made it feel very festive. Well appointed but great for those with dogs, we had an older dog and a 6 month old cocker who is crate trained, close to the beach and the Landings. we will definitely be back next year.
-
"We had a lovely time staying at Megstone."
The quiet location was perfect for our two small rescue dogs. The beautiful beaches along the coast are so unspoilt & we were lucky to have dry days to enjoy all the walks & days out. The bungalow had everything we needed & a decent sized enclosed garden for the pooches. We hope to visit again, thank you.
-
"This was our 3rd stay at Megstone, it suits us perfectly as it is in a great location to walk to the beach, pub and shop."
The garden is dog secure and the house is easy to feel comfortable in with 2 dogs on holiday. We have been in the depths of winter and despite freezing NE winds the house is warm and cosy. Plenty of hot water and well equipped. We are looking to book again in January…Northumberland is at its best in the depths of winter. Megstone will be our preferred choice or one of the other properties owned by this owner as she clearly does care about her guests experience!
-
"I have visited Megstone 4 times now, and considerate it my home from home."
It's such a warm and comfortable bungalow that has everything you need. I have a dog so the enclosed garden is perfect. I love staying here. The only thing (which has nothing to do with the owner) is that a neighbour has extended their bungalow at the side, so what used to be a private garden is no longer. There is a window which looks right across to the garden and patio doors which is a shame.
-
"Our 2nd stay at Megstone."
Really clean and comfortable with a lovely garden. We cycled so it was great to have a secure garage to store our bikes in. Everything is really close, the beach, fish and chips, shop and pub. My friend has already booked us in for December!!
-
"Our 3rd stay at Megstone and we enjoyed our week."
The bungalow is very comfortable and the garden is perfect for the dog. The weather was good, we enjoyed walks and beautiful scenery. We had some lovely meals at The Landing, Seasalt Cafe and the Craster Arms. Hope to return next year.
-
"Megstone is a clean accommodation, in a lovely quiet close."
Just a stones throw from the Sea front, it is a great base for exploring the many beautiful places that Northumberland has to offer. We had a lovely memorable stay and we will be back in the North East next year.
-
"Clean, cosy and comfortable bungalow."
Garden ideal for the dog and for sitting out. Lovely walks all around and plenty of good places for food and drink.
-
"The bungalow was so cosy and very well equipped."
Very peaceful area and only a short walk from the beautiful beach at Beadnell with it's miles of golden sand. Good location for many of the attractions we wanted to see such as Holy Island, Bamburgh, Alnwick to name a few Apart from the weather a perfect week.
-
"Met our expectations."
Comfortable, clean and well equipped.
-
"Marked down on "Facilities and Maintenance" due to slight problem with Toilet and the broken airing rack."
However, house great, comfy bed and sofas, well presented, well equipped, great location, dog friendly, excellent beaches, relaxing week ....... when can we come back!
-
"We had a lovely stay in this lovely cottage."
It has a great dog proof garden. Very comfy beds, a great TV and a well laid out kitchen. Bad points, toilet kept backing up so trouble with the drains, the owner does have a notice about not using wipes(we never do)so must of been previous holiday makers. Couldn't hand wet washing inside as the clothes airer was broken
-
"A super cottage with everything you would need for your stay and more."
So warm and cosy. Great for dogs and dog walking. We will be back so thank you Megstone.
-
"We had a lovely relaxing holiday with Waffle and Wilma ."
..Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in training. Being able to take 2 dogs was fantastic for us and them. Brilliant secure garden and a short walk to beautiful beaches. The bus service is excellent and allows you to walk point to point for only £2! Megstone is very clean and well equipped and we loved the Christmas tree..thank you for that, a nice touch. The owner obviously cares about the property and her customer's experience and responded immediately to a question we had. "The Landing' at the Harbour is great after a long beach walk for great food and coffee. We have stayed at Beadnell many times and Megstone is definitely somewhere we would like to stay again. We would recommend Megstone to our family and friends for sure. A little gem in a stunning location. Thanks again from Waffle and Wilma..

"Another beautiful stay at Megstone."
We try to stay here every year. The owner goes above and beyond to make this a home from home. Lovely and cosy. Very clean. Updated the bathroom. Lovely enclosed garden for the dog. Close to the beach. Perfect getaway. Bungalow a credit to the owner.
-
"Stayed at Megstone many times and it is always clean and homely."
the bathroom and hall had been updated and tiles and basin unit were very nice. A good place to stay.
-
"Megstone is in an ideal location for exploring some of the highlights of Northumberland."
It also has a beach that can be reached in a five minute walk that is great for rock pooling, climbing and swimming, while still being sandy and good for building sandcastles.
-
"Another enjoyable holiday at Megstone."
The bungalow is very comfortable and well equipped. The new bathroomis lovely. The dogs settled very quickly and the enclosed garden is a real plus. It is accessible for beaches, restaurants and cafes, there is so much to do. Thank you to the owner who is so welcoming when you speak to her. Looking forward to returning next year. Christine

Everything you need is there. If I’m the area again we would book this cottage.
-
"Realy nice cottage very warm and cosy ."
Very well equipped.with kitchen utensils and crockery . All in all a lovely cottage. Just a few minor issues we were unable to use the WiFi to obtain Internet. And we struggled to turn the cold tap.off in the wash basin And quite a lot of water was seen behind the toilet.like little pools. We are not complaining just pointing these out .we still give it 5 Stars!
-
"Clean, warm and very comfortable property."
The Xmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch, and thank you for the tea, coffee, bread and milk which were very welcome. Only downside was the internet as access was very hit and miss, but this did not detract from our stay, just wanted to let you know. We plan to book again in the New Year.
-
"We have been to Megstone 4 times now and would recommend it to anyone."
Its clean and comfortable. Its close to the beach and our dogs love it.Seahouses and Bamborough just down the road. All you need for a lovely break.
-
"As described, ideal for dog , appreciated well enclosed garden and proximity to beach."
Also, ability to park as Beadnell can be busy. Good base to explore area.
-
"Convenient location for the beach and village of beadnell ."

"Excellent cottage, has everything you need, great location"
-
"I had a wonderful stay, thank you."
The house was lovely and warm, the bed really comfy. The place was kitted out with everything you would need, the only exception was some liquid hand soap, and some literature on the area with ideas of places to visit. Location was superb, minute walk to the beach. The enclosed garden was a real bonus having a dog. I plan on returning! Thanks again. Pamela
-
"We never except much when we book last minute holidays, Megstone proved us wrong."
Fantastic cottage beautifully presented with dog friendly garden, parking and everything you need for a comfortable break away . Beadnell is a perfect base and coming from the inner city peace we are not used too , long walks and dog friendly beaches .
-
"Cottage up to its normal standands."
Weather pretty good for October, Beaches and scenery wonderful. Food Great.
-
"The bungalow is in a great location."
Only 5 min walk to beach and pubs, Clean and comfortable. This is our 2nd time we have stayed here and we have enjoyed our holiday both times. Just one thing went wrong and that was the hot water went off two days before the end of the holiday so we used the kettle for washing a few pots and shower to fill the bathroom sink for morning and night time washes. We seem to remember this happening the last time we stayed. But it did not spoil our stay.
-
"The only thing missing was a book with details of the area and when to put bins out."
Cottage ideally set on quite road garden great for dogs completely enclosed . Plenty of good beaches in walking distance and pub and shop close by ,would definitely go back there.
-
"We had an amazing time."
The cottage was beyond expectations, everything you could possibly need and very comfortable. Very large garden which was amazing for our dog to go outside: we will be returning.
-
"This was a perfect location for us - in a quiet estate but also close to the beach."
The house is very comfortable, with loads of storage and a sunny garden. Would definitely recommend
-
"It was a lovely bungalow, well equipped, clean & tidy, close to walks & beach harbour."
Good family base for fun in Beadnell, Seahouses or Northumberland.
-
"We arrived in 21st march 2020 and felt at home straight away very clean and comfortable, however lockdown was announced on the 23rd march and we made the decision to leave for home, it felt like the right thing to do, all shops in nearby towns were closed but the village shop which was well stocked and welcoming remained open."
Hope to visit again.
-
"We booked this beautiful cottage as a birthday surprise for our wonderful mother following the loss of her husband and our dad."
On opening the door we were overwhelmed at the ambience of this hidden gem. The owners have immaculate taste and the cottage was so comfortable warm and so well equipped. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog. Even she felt at home here. The cottage is situated perfectly for access to the beach and there is a little shop close by. The local pub was a perfect place for a celebratory dinner for mams 80th birthday. We have already booked for 2020 and I’m sure we will enjoy returning here for many years to come
-

"We couldn’t have wished for anything more."
It was a true home from home and the enclosed garden was brilliant for the dogs.
-
"We had an absolutely brilliant time will be recommending you to family and friends"
-
"Fantastic area of the country to visit and this holiday home was in the pefect location."
We managed to fit in trips to the beach as well as exploring the area. The kids loved both rockpooling and fossil hunting as well as splashing in the sea and of course building sandcastles. On top of that they loved exploring the many castles in the area and taking a boat trip to The Farne Islands and driving over to Lindisfarne and back before the sea cut the island off. The home itself was a real home from home with so much provided for us and so on the one really wet day we had they didn't mind staying inside. Overall we had a great time and look forward to returning as soon as we can
-
"The cottage was cosy, comfortable and well equipped."
Plenty of room for us (two adults and to kids aged 4 and 7). Both the owners and Sykes Cottages were friendly and accommodating. The washing machine in the garage was an absolute necessity with two young mucky children! Wi-fi was very useful too as signal in Beadnell is iffy and we needed to keep in touch with family in Sheffield. I would highly recommend.

"1: on entry day 1 a bed wasn't made and my wife had to make it."
2: had to phone owner to get a oven tray so we could cook chicken etc, wasn't any. 3: settes very uncomfortable and the springs had gone in one of them. 4: windows throughout the bungalow filthy also the the frames and guttering around the bungalow. 5: dust in many places especially on the hood of the extractor. 6: bathroom has a musty smell and the flooring lifted up when mopped, shower power not very good. One of the cheapest toilet seats ever that we've had to use. 7: the iron leaks. 8: the freezer needs defrosting and the top drawer is catching due to ice build up, light in fridge not working. 9: NO FANS, the place is very warm and with the hot days worse. 10: back garden, had to sweep patio area as it had not been tidied up/ garden had not been mowed and was a good 5-6" long when we left - made picking the dogs toileting up difficult. For the £900+ i paid for the week - we wasn't happy and expected alot better cleanliness and comfort to sit on. Ps please feel free to ask the owners to offer a goodwill gesture part refund (£200).
-
"The location was perfect for exploring the area, the garden was good as it was as described dog friendly and very secure."
However the Shower (which had been mentioned previously by other guests) was either scalding or cold and could not be used. The property had had a light surface clean only, the floor in the living area, kitchen and bathroom had to be cleaned when we arrived which we do not expect to have to do. Cobwebs in most rooms, widow sills inside & outside not cleaned. Patio furniture also had to be cleaned before use (again not what we expect when having paid that amount). The owners were even there when we arrived. Bed was nice and comfortable & clean. Location great and local amenities good. It is a pity because this property could be absolutely perfect but with a bit more attention to detail.
-
"Very suitable for elderly holidaymakers and very secure garden for dog."
Excellent access to beach. Situated in a very pleasant environment
-
"This was the third time we have stayed at Megstone."
We love it.The accommodation is comfortable and central for what we require.Seahouses is only a short distance and has a coop, good food pubs.Dog friendly in most areas. The beaches also dog friendly and go on forever. Also Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle very close.A prawn sandwich at Craster is a must. The Jolly Fisherman is also dog friendly. We had a lovely time and will go back next year.
-
"Lovely bungalow in an excellent location close to both the beaches in beadnell."
Local attractions were close by and there were lots of information provided in the accomodation.
-
"Very nice very clean great location"
-
"This is our second visit to the property."
Had no problem settling in as we knew from our last holiday where every thing was. Milk, etc on arrival was a nice touch. Property was both clean and warm. It is positioned in a quiet area but near to shop and beach. I have Parkinsons and this property is just perfect for my needs. I go to a Parkinson Gym Class and have told everyone there about this lovely holiday bungalow. Looking forward to our next visit to Northumberland and this property.
-
"Megstone is ideally located on a quiet street."
It has French doors onto an enclosed garden with a table and chairs to sit in the sun. The cottage was warm and cosy, nicely furnished and decorated. We would stay there again. Highly recommended. My husband, Mother and sister and two dogs all had a good time.
-

"We loved our holiday in Beadnell, everything about it was perfect from the bungalow we stayed in,we just couldn't fault it at all,in fact it was home from home."
We liked that it's very dog friendly wherever we went.

"We found that Beadnell is a good base to explore this part of the coastline, however, mainly consisting of small villages it wouldn't be suitable for everyone."
-
"Perfect location 5 minutes walk to the beach and shop 5 minutes to a lovely pub."
Lovely bungalow with garden and every facility you could want on holiday. Will be back

Where you’ll be staying
BEADNELL
Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.
This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
