"Really comfortable cottage with everything we wanted."
Snow and ice during the week but we felt warm and cozy throughout. Excellent position for exploring the area.
"Our second stay this year at Stable Lodge."
Just as good as the first stay. Lovely comfortable cottage, high standard of cleanliness maintained, well equipped, easy parking and good location for local amenities.
Thank you so much for choosing the cottage again and taking the time to comment. Property Owner
"Fabulous cottage, every need was accommodated, a home from home."
Perfectly located in the town for all the local amenities and in the area to explore both Scotlands border towns and Northumberland. We would book again without hesitation, Zoe is one of the most considerate hosts we have ever encountered in our years of booking with Sykes.
Thank you so glad you had a relaxing and restful visit. Property Owner
"A comfortable retreat after a day exploring the scottish borders."
Clean, comfortable and peaceful cottage, everything spot on. Would love to do it all over again. Paul and Clare
"What a little gem of a cottage."
Spotlessly clean. In a lovely location and close to amenities. Zoe was on hand if needed. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.
"Lovely cottage, very clean, well equipped, lots of extra touches without feeling cluttered."
Main reason for our stay was to visit family in the area and to spend time relaxing. The cottage was very comfortable with a pleasant outdoor seating area at the backdoor. Easy parking and good location for access to local shops and cafés. Would definitely return to stable lodge but would bring less luggage now that we know how well equipped it is!! Thank you Zoe and Graeme for making our stay so enjoyable
"This was one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in."
Usually there is something missing but not this time.(even egg cups and that's a first) Zoe was extremely helpful when we had a query. Very well situated both for local amenities and for touring the borders. We wish we could have stayed longer. A big thank you Zoe.
Lovely location. Would strongly recommend.
"The cottage was lovely and is in a good location."
Bed was comfy as was the sofa. The rooms are all spacious. Owners were very welcoming and nothing to fault at all. We would book again.
David we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and for your kind recommendation. Take care. Property Owner
"Our first impression when walking in to Stable Lodge was Wow!"
It is extremely welcoming and does not disappoint as you enter each room. The bedrooms are well furnished with plenty of wardrobe space and hangers, and very comfortable beds. The kitchen has everything you need, in fact more than you need! We really appreciated the cake, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee and all the other little extras. The lounge is cosy and comfortable to relax in by the fire. We thought all the different table lights in each room were beautiful. The location is excellent for exploring, only an hour from Edinburgh which was our main reason for choosing Coldstream as I had always wanted to see the castle. We went to various other places too including Berwick upon Tweed and Bamburgh and loved to come 'home' at the end of a day. Coldstream itself is an interesting town with lovely walks, quirky little gift shops, an excellent butchers, and the Besom Inn was worth the visit! I would certainly recommend Stable Lodge and would definitely return if visiting the area again.
Thank you Susan. We are so glad you had a nice time and for your kind review. It is a lovely part of the country to visit and it sounds like you packed a lot in. Property Owner
"Property clean, warm and comfortable - ideally situated for our requirement at the time but would also be ideal for persons wishing to visit the Scottish Borders and Northern Northumberland."

"We had a very comfortable stay in Stable Lodge."
Cosy and warm and very well appointed. The owners had thought of lots of things for a comfortable stay.
"Stable Lodge is an excellent property with everything you need for a wonderful stay."
Zoe is the perfect host with excellent communication and a wonderful welcome pack left for us at the cottage. All amenities close by within easy walking distance, shops, pubs, takeaways, restaurants, butchers etc. Parking available in the square immediately outside the cottage. Perfect location on the border for local walks and further afield journeys such as to Edinburgh and Bamburgh castles being particular highlights for us. Definitely recommended and we would love to return to this beautiful part of the country and certainly to both Colldstream and Stable Lodge.
"Cottage was equipped with all essential facilities."
Plus extras like mini toiletries for emergencies. Nice goodies to greet us. Pint of milk in the fridge and even better a bottle of Prosecco
"We had a wonderful stay in Stable Lodge, which included by chance, Civic Week, a wonderful border’s town celebration."
The stay at Stable Lodge was very pleasant with all manner of activities very well catered for. Great communication with Zoe, the owner and a lovely welcome pack on arrival. The neighbours were very friendly too.
"We were delighted with Stable Lodge."
It was clean and comfortable and Zoe and Graeme had thought of everything we might need. We stayed during the heatwave and the house kept nice and cool to come home to. It was an ideal base for exploring the Scottish Borders both for the coast (cold swims!) and good walks inland.
Sarah thank you for taking time to give such positive feedback and for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy. It is much appreciated. Property Owner

"This cottage was a home from home."
Everything you needed was provided. The welcome basket was much appreciated. We even had time in the courtyard which was a sun trap and so peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.

"We greatly enjoyed our week at Stable Lodge."
We were welcomed with a basket of shortbreads and lemon drizzle cake and, on opening the fridge, we discovered a bottle of prosecco. What a start to the holiday! Zoe was also very attentive to ensure that we were comfortable. The cottage itself was very well equipped and homely. It is well located in an attractive square and close to the shops and other amenities of Coldstream. As walkers, we were pleased to be able to access a number of local walks without having to use the car. Coldstream is also conveniently located for walks in the Cheviots and on the Berwickshire and Northumberland coasts. The suggested walks with maps in the cottage information book was a very helpful addition to our own material. In conclusion, Stable Lodge met all our needs and gave us a great base for a very enjoyable holiday.
"Excellent cottage superbly fitted out."
Warm and clean in an excellent location for visiting the numerous locations. The owner is very helpful and always contactable for assistance. Will definitely visit the area again using Stable Lodge!

It has all the comforts you would need and is very well presented and spotlessly clean. We would highly recomment the lodge as a base for a great holiday in the Scottish Borders.
"Lovely cottage in a quiet square, ideally placed to explore the area."
Beautifully clean and well-equipped, the owners couldn't have been more helpful. Hope to visit again next year.

About the location
Cornhill-on-Tweed 2 miles.
Home to the famous Coldstream Guards, the pretty borders town of Coldstream sits on the northern bank of the River Tweed, and was once a rival to Gretna Green for runaway marriages. There is a museum dedicated to the Guards, a good selection of shops and pubs, or visitors can try their hand at a variety of activities, including cycling, fishing, golf, riding or walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside. The picturesque seat of The Earls of Hume, including former Conservative Prime Minister Alec Douglas-Home, is The Hirsel, an estate to the west of the town with a fine mansion in beautiful grounds through which flow the Leet Waters, famous for a wide range of birds which nest there. With the Scottish borders and North Northumberland easily accessible, this is a fantastic base from which to make the most of the region.
