  • "The family bathroom has a bath with a hand held shower head in a cradle."

There is no shower curtain, no means of hooking the shower head to the wall. As a consequence it is virtually impossible to shower without water spraying around the bathroom. Others have made the same comment in the visitors book. The kitchen could be better equipped with cooking utensils and a corkscrew would have been handy.

Thank you for your comments The property is advertised as having a fully enclosed shower in the en-suite bathroom The handheld shower attachment in the other bathroom is purely for washing hair over the bath or using while in the bathtub The photos of the bathroom clearly show that the bathroom is not fully tiled and I not sure why anyone would try and use the shower without a screen or the walls being fully tiled I will ask the cleaners to check the kitchen drawers as there was definitely a corkscrew there when we stayed a few weeks ago Having checked the drawers after your visit the corkscrew is definitely there Not sure if you realised but inside the large drawers there is an inner drawer on each side of the hob where all the utensils are kept I think you may have not seen the second drawer where the extra utensils and corkscrew were kept Property Owner

  • "Lovely spacious quite new house."

It was very warm inside at night even if the day had been cool. It could use some hooks in bathrooms and possibly a coat rack in the hall or lobby. It was very easy to catch yourself on the internal door latch plates as these had not been properly recessed into frames, indeed I ripped my jeans on one of them. Very short walk to the Pack horse pub which did very nice food.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Bring a time served joiner I have checked all the latch plates and found them all to be fitted and recessed correctly. Property Owner

  • "The house is beautiful, modern and well equipped."

The beds are comfy and everything is well presented. The back garden is large and perfect for warmer weather. For me personally I found the fact that the owners have full control of heating / hot water( air source heat pump system) less than ideal. The only heat source is a log burner in the sitting room if you are cold. It would have been helpful for Sykes to disclose this information in the lengthy description. I would not have booked this accommodation had I been aware of the situation. The property is well situated and we had a lovely holiday only marred by the above issue, which would not be a problem in the warmer months.

Pleased you had a great stay at Stonecroft and thank you for your review. The hot water in the cottage is on continuous and is not controlled by the owners The cottage is heated by an air source heat pump and has radiators on the first floor and underfloor heating on the ground floor. The heating is on 24/7 but the temperature is set to reduce through the night and then increases early in the morning. The temperature of the four thermostats are set at 22/23 degrees for most parts of the day. The system/thermostats are very complicated to use and we found that some guests pressed the wrong buttons on the display and totally turned the system off which prevented us from remotely resetting the system resulting in a call out to the property to reset the system We have the system running very efficiently and if any guests feel it is too cold we have provided a number which they just need to text and we can increase the temperature. The log burner in the lounge can also be used to give extra heat and is ideal for cosy evenings in. Property Owner

  • "A lovely house in a beautiful part of Northumberland."

The only thing missing in the property is a few more waste paper baskets ie one in the bedroom and one in the lounge, would be a bonus. Otherwise a perfect property for a family stay.

  • "The property was in excellent condition."

It was very much as described. The village it is located in is quite small and a 15-minute drive from most of the places however there is a lovely pub. The kitchen was well appointed though some of the knives, pots and pans could do with upgrading/replacing.

We were very pleased with the house and it made for a good holiday. Kitchen scales would have been useful, but this is not a grumble at all. I would highly recommend this property.

Great to have the large garden. Very well located for exploring both inland and along the coast. Very well equipped throughout (apart from there being only 2 tablespoons) Would return.

  • "Overall the property and location was fantastic, very peaceful and close to everywhere we had planned to visit, furthest journey to Berwick just 30/35 minutes away."

Quick access to A1 literally just a minute away from the property, I must add though we never heard the traffic when sitting relaxing in the garden. Downside, a bit dusty in places, we had to clean the kitchen table and a mirror in the main bedroom which clearly hadn't been cleaned for months. The en suite has no shelf space to put toiletries and the shower itself no hanging area so shampoo and shower soap had to go on the floor, just little things I know but these just make it more comfortable.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
