  • "Excellent value for money and very comfortable beds."

The dishwasher needed rinse aid and salt and did leak some water at front right. (Salt added but no rinse aid in cupboard) Also plug in bath wouldn’t lift up to let water out. (We had to lever plug up). Minor issues which no way affected our wonderful stay. Thank you.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay at the cottage, which was warm, clean, and well positioned, but there were some niggles which meant that the accommodation, which cost over £500 for the week, fell a little short of what we expected: Firstly, there was no microwave."

Admittedly the spec didn't list one, but it did claim that the kitchen was well equipped, and surely all kitchens contain a microwave these days? Secondly, the spec listed the en-suite and wet room separately, but these were one and the same, so the en-suite was the only upstairs loo, which is little use in the night for occupants of the other rooms. Then the en suite itself was a little bizarre, being built halfway down a disused staircase - a handrail on the steps would be useful! But the really daft thing was the lack of any sort of door/screen/curtain on the en-suite, which means that you can't use the loo during the night without the bright lights waking up the wife. So, a trip to the loo in the night means taking a torch to the downstairs bathroom, being careful not to trigger the automatic lights! There were also some minor niggles: Firstly we couldn't work out how to operate the gas fire, and we couldn't find any instructions. Fortunately, the place was warm enough, so that wasn't really an issue. Secondly, it seemed that the hot water only worked when the heating was on, unless I misunderstood the controls. Thirdly, although we had a bath towel each, there was only one hand towel between all of us. Fortunately we had some spares in our luggage. However, we still had an enjoyable week and hopefully this feedback will help the owner identify some necessary improvements.
