  • "Dereside cottage was amazing, fully stocked kitchen and then some(slow cookers, baking equipment, fully stocked baby utensils and high chairs available as well as the usual equipment for the oven you would expect)."

Bedrooms were roomy and made up to king size for our arrival. There was a little welcome pack waiting for us which was a lovely touch. Living room was the same, with a bookshelf full of books and dvds for you to enjoy, board games in the draws as well. Everything we needed to enjoy our stay. You do need to follow the owners instructions to find the cottage as it is tucked away down a one lane country road. I would say the only downside to the cottage was the downstairs bedroom, which on a night time was close to an intermittent buzzing/droning noise source(not sure if this was the boiler or the underfloor heating or next doors ongoing building work?) But other than that, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend.

Very helpful and friendly owner when contacted before and during the stay. Of note was the well-equipped kitchen regarding pots, pans etc - we usually have to take our own large pot to make sure we can cook for 8. We had a wonderful stay and were lucky with the weather. Definitely want to revisit Dereside.

  • "This cottage is exceptional."

The stone building is beautifully designed so spacious, light and comfortable. We enjoyed the sociable kitchen, excellent bedrooms with comfortable beds and choice of bathroom facilities. Room for everyone in the lounge/sunroom! The scenery, views and location- fabulous! The minor downsides- the building materials outside the neighbouring new build slightly marred our almost panoramic views. Parking limited to 2 cars for 8 guests. Otherwise a perfect accommodation.

  • "Dereside is a beautiful and well-equipped house, in a lovely rural location."

There's plenty of room to relax, eat and socialise in comfort, great views of the surrounding countryside and very comfy beds. If you can tear yourself away from its home comforts, you can explore the local area on foot from the front door - the village pub is just a short walk away - and there are lots of other things to see and do nearby. We loved our stay here and will be back!

  • "Without doubt I think this was the best equipped & nicest cottage we have ever stayed in and an absolute credit to the owner."

Everything had been thought of. A lovely location, with amazing views from most windows, and generous living space for up to 8 people. We stayed for a short break in January and the cottage was lovely and warm even though outside it was very cold! Only minor issue would be the limited parking space but we managed to squeeze 3 small/mid sized cars into the space available and there is a public layby just a short walk away. Also within a few hundred yards is the Bay Horse Inn a lovely traditional Inn which serves excellent food. Will I return? - Definitely

  • "Lovely house in rural location, yet easily accessible from A68."

It was perfect for us, as we wanted to be near family in Newcastle (40 mins away). One small problem arose, as the en suite shower started to leak, but Lisa arranged for the plumber to come the same day (when we were out) and it was fixed with minimal inconvenience. House was warm with the central heating (more info about regulating this would have been helpful). Outside light switches were in an odd location and unmarked (bedroom on ground floor), but we found them eventually (very minor quibble). Kitchen was large enough for all of us and well equipped. Bedrooms / beds were lovely and comfortable. Main living area, with conservatory on lower level, made for flexible space to suit everyone. Great holiday overall.

The pictures do not really do justice to how showing how fabulous the property is. It has exceptional quality fixtures and fittings and every single thing you would need, the beds are massive and again top quality mattress and bedding. The house was very large and has great social spaces, the lounge and kitchen carefully designed to accommodate a large group of people very comfortably. The owner goes above and beyond, making sure the home is well heated, cosy and comfortable at all times, also leaving one of the best welcome baskets I have ever seen. The property is well placed for visiting the coast, keilder forest and fabulous walks on the doorstep, one of the most amazing things is that you have panoramic views of the beautiful countryside from every window of the home. The house is situated at the top of a lovely village, which has a local shop and a great pub with the most welcoming of landlords and the locals really chatty and friendly. This home is most definitely a luxury property with 5* quality internally and externally and is cleaned to exceptional standards. We loved this property and cannot wait to go back.
