Every single thing was perfect and clean. The welcome bundle (incl milk in the fridge) was very welcome and much appreciated. Would absolutely love to stay here again (and hopefully will)

  • "This was our second stay at Dereside and we had a fantastic short break ."

Everything you could need is catered for, there is an extremely generous welcome back, and even a special dog towel and treats for your furry friend ( if you have one). The cottage was immaculately maintained and very clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dereside to the larger family, we are a family if 7 plus a border terrier

The house is large, modern and equipped with everything you could imagine and more. The beds and linen are incredibly comfortable. It's just a short 1/2 hr drive from Newcastle and Gateshead and situated perfectly for lovely walks. I would recommend staying here

  • "A really fantastic house, with top quality furnishings and beautiful views."

We loved it all, especially the spacious and well-equipped family kitchen and dining area, and the comfy sofas and fire in the lounge. Plenty of room throughout for our party of seven adults, plus dog! Dereside had everything we needed for a fabulous few days away, and it's definitely on our "book again" list!

  • "We booked Dereside for Christmas 22-29th December last minute after being let down by previous booking."

From booking Lisa was very attentive and asked if I needed travel cot etc as had 10 week old baby. On arrival we had a gorgeous welcome basket filled with lovey treats and there was milk in the fridge little touches like that just take it that extra mile. The place was absolutely immaculate and the cottage itself is just out of this world! It’s so cosy and had everything you could possibly need and more. We didn’t want to come back home! We had the most amazing Christmas tucked away from the crazy world we’re currently living in and switched off and had lots of quality family time. I couldn’t recommend Dereside enough! Absolutely fantastic!! 5*. We will definitely be back!

  • "Lovely house in rural location, yet easily accessible from A68."

It was perfect for us, as we wanted to be near family in Newcastle (40 mins away). One small problem arose, as the en suite shower started to leak, but Lisa arranged for the plumber to come the same day (when we were out) and it was fixed with minimal inconvenience. House was warm with the central heating (more info about regulating this would have been helpful). Outside light switches were in an odd location and unmarked (bedroom on ground floor), but we found them eventually (very minor quibble). Kitchen was large enough for all of us and well equipped. Bedrooms / beds were lovely and comfortable. Main living area, with conservatory on lower level, made for flexible space to suit everyone. Great holiday overall.

Photos online don’t do it justice. Welcome pack was an added bonus. Fresh eggs just at the top of the road another plus. Easy to access Keilder park and other attractions.

  • "Great house in the heart of Northumberland."

Fantastic base for exploring Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall and not too far from the coast for places like Whitley Bay. We'd also recommend visiting the Bird of Prey centre and Kielder observatory. Facilities in the house are excellent and the welcome basket is a really welcoming touch. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Lisa the host went above and beyond; from aiding and supplying details for a local fishing trip to the thoughtful touches in the cottage (lovely welcome package, hand wash, everything you could ever need in a kitchen! Are just a few examples). Would highly recommend!

  • "Dereside at West Woodburn is the most outstanding cottage that we have stayed in and we have stayed in many over the years."

The pictures do not really do justice to how showing how fabulous the property is. It has exceptional quality fixtures and fittings and every single thing you would need, the beds are massive and again top quality mattress and bedding. The house was very large and has great social spaces, the lounge and kitchen carefully designed to accommodate a large group of people very comfortably. The owner goes above and beyond, making sure the home is well heated, cosy and comfortable at all times, also leaving one of the best welcome baskets I have ever seen. The property is well placed for visiting the coast, keilder forest and fabulous walks on the doorstep, one of the most amazing things is that you have panoramic views of the beautiful countryside from every window of the home. The house is situated at the top of a lovely village, which has a local shop and a great pub with the most welcoming of landlords and the locals really chatty and friendly. This home is most definitely a luxury property with 5* quality internally and externally and is cleaned to exceptional standards. We loved this property and cannot wait to go back.
