We were very impressed with Ashore it was very homely and comfortable and the location you cannot get closer to the beach, although the weather was kind we got to enjoy the deck however the furniture on the deck is very tired and in need of replacement especially the table, We have dogs and to find a property that as dog towels, spare leads and dog bowels was great, we enjoyed our stay we have booked Ashore again as our dogs were safe and the beach is a dog walkers paradise,

  • "Positives - heating improved from last stay, well equipped kitchen, brilliant supplies for dogs, location to die for!"

Negatives - double bedroom curtains need replacing or hanging properly, light switches don’t all work/dimmer switches don’t dim, need another lamp in living room, strong smell of damp in bathroom, old unplugged fridge still in utility room (was there last year), window & door on to verandah could use a curtain to keep out draughts (gaps in frame), no key for door from utility room into garden (queried with agency but no final answer given) as it would be great to be able to lock it from the outside when going on to the beach. Overall could do with a refresh….

  • "Excellent property in an ideal location for quick access to the beach."

Very comfortable and warm for our Christmas stay. Well equipped kitchen with all easy to use appliances. The welcome drink and doggie biscuits were very much appreciated, and the fact that the seating, with throws, was nicely worn so we didn't have to worry about our dogs curling up with us. Loved that touch. Will definitely stay again. Thanks again.

We absolutely adore being here. The accommodation and staff at NCCC are always friendly and efficient. We look forward to every holiday here, year after year.

  • "Had a fantastic stay, and what a fantastic location, loved going for walks on the beach straight from the large enclosed back garden."

The dogs loved it. Very comfy and roomy, comfy sofas and recliner chair, good facilities and great balcony views. It was very cosy and warm even though we stayed in November 2023. The window in one of the bathrooms didn’t shut fully. Loved the back light in the garden so you could see the dogs but worth taking a torch as you couldn’t see them when they ventured round the sides of the garden away from the light and it is very dark. The welcome pack of biscuits and coffee/tea was a nice touch. Am just about to book again for next year but when it’s slightly warmer so we can make full use of those balcony views. Thank you so much for having us and our dogs.

  • "Arrived Saturday evening as we entered there was a really bad smell which was throughout the house even the sofas smelt bad, window in bathroom would not close, there was a bad smell coming out of sink in main bathroom when toilet was flushed En-suite toilet would not flush properly and black water would bubble up from shower tray and sink, when I used the shower the tray would fill up and would not drain away so showers were rushed , i went into utility room looked in washer and the stench was horrendous black dirty water was sitting in washer good job I didn’t need to use washer , Went to use microwave didn’t work I also had to re wash cutlery as some were still dirty ."

Overall Bedding and towels were clean and fresh and you couldn’t get a better location but property needs updating and will not return to this cottage

  • "The location is everything & you didn’t disappoint."

Being so close to the beach was just what we wanted. The dogs loved it! The only thing I’d like to see improved is the shower … for me a comfy bed (which we got) & a decent power shower are our main requirements especially as we spend our days out & about walking. We’d definitely recommend & consider returning.

  • "The property is ideally situated for both the beach and the village."

However both the internal and external decoration and upkeep is very disappointing. The property felt damp and uncared for. The external table was damaged, internal chair ripped, two fridges in the kitchen (one in front of the other so one would assume one was broken but not taken away). Freezer down stairs was hand painted to hid the rust. The balcony upstairs patched up and not painted. All in all this property is in need of some vital maintenance and repair. Very disappointing considering the cost of the property for the week ☹️

  • "Another wonderful stay at Ashore."

The house is in an amazing location and you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. Lovely to have a truly dog friendly property and the large enclosed garden is great for dogs and kids. We would love to book again if there are any dates available- it’s always so popular

  • "Prior to arrival I posted a couple of questions, only 1 was answered and had to ask the questions as there isn't a lot of detail of what equipment is available."

when you have 3 people and a dog travelling together it is useful to know what you absolutely need to bring. there was no mention of a washing machine and I checked in one of my questions and this was confirmed. on arrival there was a washing machine which meant I could have packed less! on arrival there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke in the living area. I commented on this when I received an email asking how things were. I then had a phone call apologising and saying this would be raised after the bank holiday but I didn't hear anything further. the whole place felt a little tired and uncared for. much of the kitchen equipment such as utensils and pans had to be washed before we could use them. everywhere was dusty and it really felt like it hadn't been cleaned on the day of our arrival. we reported a fault with the door to the balcony which was resolved the same day. the shower in the en suite was just about ok power wise but the one in the main bathroom was very poor. the location was amazing and the beds v comfy and linen was fresh and clean. I have booked a further holiday with sykes later this year and am hoping we have a better experience.

  • "Issues were, main bedroom."

Double quilt and base sheet on a king sized bed which was interesting. Not enough curtain rings on curtains so they hung with gaps. No switch on bedside lamp so had to put arm down side of unit to switch off. Ensuite shower door did not close, towel rail on ensuite was loose so didn't like to use it. 2 x bulbs on kitchen and dining room lights not working. Toaster does not work so you have to stand holding it down till cooked. DVD player does not work with the tv as the scart does not connect. It's a bit dangerous that if you are outside on the balcony and the wind shuts the door there is no way you can get back in. There is a terrible damp smell in the utility room which was that bad we couldn't leave the door open. We are really good at cleaning up after our dog but didn't expect to come on holiday to find droppings from another dog, this wasn't very nice. The size and location of the property were brilliant but for what we were charged it was disappointing especially when either s little time and effort it could be stunning.

  • "We have stayed in this property quite a few times now and booked again for next year."

We love it, the garden is fantastic for our 2 dogs, very secure and the back gate makes it easier to get to the beach and safer as you don't need to go on the road or over the carpark. The en-suite in the master bedroom is fantastic and helps having 2 bathrooms. We wish we could live in Ashore permanently. We felt safe visiting during the pandemic due to the measures put in place. Thank you for another enjoyable stay.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
