  • "This property reminds us of holiday home standards of 20 or 30 years ago."

Furniture not comfortable, mattress in serious need of replacing. Fridge/freezer not working properly, fridge not cold enough, freezer too cold. TV small by modern standards. Parking very difficult, probably OK for a small/medium size car, but not a large car or SUV. Property needs some serious TLC inside and out.

Evening Kevin, Thank you for your recent review of Sugar Sands. I am sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay, however, I do find your review rather inaccurate. The property was repainted in October 2023, painting is done once a year. The sofas are from M&S the abbey range and cost over £2000 a few years ago. The dining table and chairs are from John Lewis. The fridge freezer is being replaced but I have corrected the thermostat which was a rather simple task. I have a large L200 truck, a Transit Custom van and an Alfa Romeo, never had an issue parking? I agree parking outside the gate can be tight, but outside the garage space is plentiful. During the recent high winds we had some damage to the wall and fence outside the property, this is being dealt with, finding a good builder is difficult and they come with a wait period. I have taken on board your comments regarding the mattress and are looking into this. Property Owner

  • "A nice property, very quiet location."

With in easy reach of lots of places to visits. Well equipped although beds would benefit from a good matters topper.

  • "The evening that I arrived the door handle from the kitchen into the hall broke."

This prevented me from accessing the bedroom and all of my belongings. I rang and texted Craig on both of the mobile phone numbers provided but got no response, I still haven’t heard anything from him. I tried to release the door handle using items from the cutlery draw, it didn’t work. Weighing up my options I could either sleep in my clothes on the kitchen floor, or leave the house and find a hotel for the night. It was now 22:45, I went out to the car to look for a blanket and noticed that the neighbours kitchen light was on so I knocked on their back door. John, the neighbour, came round and managed to release the door latch and prop the door open. He told me that he had to replace a different handle the previous week. This was a horrible experience and left me wary of closing and doors in the house. The property felt a bit neglected with several light bulbs that need changing. The outside light doesn’t work so a torch is useful. The bed is worn out and very hard and lumpy. New pillows are needed. A very upsetting and disappointing experience compounded by the lack of any communication from Craig or Anna.

Evening Melanie, Unfortunately you rang me at 22:39 when my phone was off and I was in bed. This has never been an issue before and in a 15-20 year old property it is rare to find a good quality door handle not work. It could not be pre-empted and during routine checks it didn't flag up. I did try to call you early the following morning when I picked up your message but your phone was switched off. I contacted John who helps look after the property and he popped round that evening to release the door and then the following day to fix it. The chandelier lights in the house did have some bulbs that needed replacing, and the three bulbs have been sorted. Thank you Property Owner

  • "Excellent place to stay, particularly with a dog as three beaches within 2 miles."

Lots of lovely sandy beaches in this part of Northumberland, castles and places to visit aplenty. House very comfortable and could only be improved by installing a sink in utility. Owners very amenable. Handy Co-op and lovely cafe in the village.

Thanks for the welcome bottle of wine. So handy to the the co-op and Running Fox cafe so very close. We found the neighbours were up very early (before 6am) .. presumably commuting to work, they weren’t noisy but unfortunately woke the dog up .. and hence woke us up !!

  • "On arrival - Fire not fixed to wall."

Shower base broken in multiple places, base of kitchen unit broken. Fridge door covering broken and sharp edges. Kitchen tiles need a deep clean. Bathroom and toilet mirrors dirty and streaky as was mere all the glass shelves. No blinds in living room so had to keep curtains shut! Garden showed on pics as private and is overlooked by next door with a view of her bins. Had to put bin at gate to stop it blowing open as no lock on it. Outside light faulty and flashes all night. Outside gutter at the back leaking badly.
