One of the few we've visited that is properly equipped in all aspects. Lovely outlook over the cricket field and the village is stunning. So nice to see residents respecting their village's appearance. The cafe, Rosie Lee, just a few doors down was excellent. Lovely people.

It was more spacious than I expected - more like a townhouse disguised as a cottage! Great amenities (we even found a colander eventually!) including games and lego, and everything we needed for the week. Thank you!

  • "Property was very homely."

Had everything you needed and had beautiful views from the main sitting room. A real home from home. Plenty of room for the 7 of us that stayed there. Although the stairs between the levels of the house are very steep. So would be mindful of this if anyone with mobility issues or small children are considering stopping here. The only downside was parking outside of the property. It was quite a busy thin street. But we always managed to get our 2 cars parked within walking distance of the property. There were a few lovely pubs and convenience stores within easy walking distance. The property is a good base for lots of lovely walks. The mattresses were very comfortable and would love to know what kind of mattress is on the bed in the top bedroom. As my sister in law would love to purchase one as she has had the best weeks sleep she's ever had. Although don't leave the velux windows open on a night as the church bells ring through the night. Overall a lovely week

  • "The cottage was a perfect size for our staycation."

8 of us had plenty of room to be together in the main living room/dining area, as well as having enough room to spread out when we needed to. It was very clean, warm and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Good location to nearby shops and a lovely view at the rear of the property. We did encounter a problem with the wifi connection but l emailed the owner and her response was quick and apologetic, which was much appreciated. She let us know it was caused by a problem in the area and it was then resolved the next day. I would recommend a stay at the cottage and would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We’d be very happy to welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "A lovely house."

Comfortable beds, a good amount of space for everyone. Wonderful views from the windows, beautiful walks from the door. Great communication from the owner. We will definitely come again as it was perfect for our needs. I would tell others that the stairs are quite steep and an old dog/ less able person might struggle. Our 9 year old dog did limit his visits to the basement garden because of this. Also the garden would not have been secure for a more adventurous/able dog than ours!

Our children were small when we first stayed here but still like to join us when we stay even though they are now grown up. Wonderful walking in beautiful and varied scenery. Bridleways for mountain biking too if you're good on rocky tracks! The house has everything you need for a family holiday. Comfy beds, good hot showers, big utility area for sorting wet/muddy gear. Well equipped kitchen for full self catering. Toys, games and books. Good cafes and pubs in walking distance, well stocked village stores but also supermarkets a short drive away.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Spring Bank Cottage in November 2021 - which coincided with a storm and snow!"

The heating was great and the house was cosy - we were not cold despite the frigid temperatures outside, and the living space was perfect for 5 adults. Plenty of space for walking boots in the hallway, and the 2 bathrooms had plenty of hot water for showers after freezing hikes in the hills. We didn't use the room on the lower ground floor, but can see how that would be wonderful in the summer or if you have kids. The parking wasn't a problem - we had 2 cars and always found a space on the road, even if it wasn't right outside the doors. We'd definitely book again for a friend's hiking trip. It was the perfect location.

We're delighted you really enjoyed your stay, and thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Pending a more thorough investigation of the TV reception, it has been re-tuned and is now receiving BBC. The oven is checked regularly, but may be different from the one you have at home. The children especially loved playing in the downstairs basement room that opened out into the garden. The village is very picturesque with a stream running through and plenty of hungry ducks to feed and there's a good children's playground within easy walking distance. We had some nice days out and some of our group had a good walk up Kinder Scout. We found that the area catered for children and adults and the cottage had plenty of space for ourselves, and our son's family. A perfect family get- together

Lovely to sit on the balcony or garden and watch the cricket. Appreciated the toys, books and generous provision of cleaning materials etc. One warning, as there are four floors there are three quite steep staircases - we didn’t feel it safe to let the 2-year old go up and down on her own. One stair gate is provided and we took another, so managed ok, but do bear this in mind if you have more young children than adults

There are lots of lovely walks you can do direct from the front door, including to Kinder Scout and Reservoir. It's also a good base for other walks in the area, including to Mam Tor and Castleton and cycling around Derwent Water. Hayfield is a great base - some lovely pubs, a butcher, post office and a fish and ship shop! All you need on your doorstep. The house itself is within easy walking distancce of the all the above. It overlooks the village cricket ground at the back, which provides an additional sense of space. It is nicely furbished with all modcons. The owners were very helpful. We visited in April. We'd highly recommend it.

The rest of the party chilled, watched the cricket and soaked up the atmosphere of a very nice village. There is a brilliant pub less than five minutes walk away so I didn't even have to cook! We were given the wrong key code to the safe, but this was very easily and quickly sorted out so it was not really a problem.
