  • "Gag Aye Farm is a wonderful property, the garden is fantastic our dog loved it and we enjoyed bird watching!"

The cottage is in a great location away from busy roads/traffic/noise so it was lovely to sit in the garden enjoying the views but its not far from Longnor (the General store there is very convenient for logs and food shopping) and Buxton or the Tissington Trail are not far either. The property owners are also great and were easily contactable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gag Aye Farm and cannot wait to go back.

  • "We left after one night."

Overwhelming smell of smoke from the broken chimney stack. White stone walls in the sitting room are grey with it. Mould spores everywhere, behind beds, corners, windows etc. Leak in utility so floor had puddles. Sheets hadn’t been changed. Stained and wrinkled so called owner and told where sheets were (locked in eaves, sitting on floor with mouse traps and mould on walls). Mould in eaves wardrobe. Dirty kitchen, oven. Uncomfortable beds. Vintage one unsafe as not bolted together tightly and moves. Sofa dirty and cushions paper thin. Had shower and flooded downstairs toilet out and that was the last straw. Obviously happened before as ceilings have old water stains. Got refund for remaining 6 nights but really upsetting. Took photos and shared with Sykes. Only saving grace is the glorious location.

  • "A lovely property full of character in a superb location."

The only fault I can think of is that some of the internal doors are quite ill fitting and need attention. Also the front door was very stiff and the keys hard to turn. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "We had a perfect stay, the cottage was lovely and the birds, the wildlife, and surrounds made it a great holiday."

The main purpose for our stay was to go to Chatsworth Xmas fair which was a great day out. The property owner had informed us of the potholes in the road so no surprises there.

The house and grounds could do with some TLC, but this does stop Gag Aye Farm being a unique holiday experience!

  • "Immersion heater was a problem for a day, quickly sorted."

We also had a visiting frog in the kitchen one evening, probably because it was warm enough to have front door open, soon put him back outside. As we arrived in the dark it may be a good idea to paint the name of the farm in brighter writing so can be seen from the road, we drove straight past it first time. Pillows, mattress and duvet were so comfortable !! We all had an enjoyable time, and were outside a lot thanks to super weather and lovely countryside.

Thanks for this. You'll be glad to hear that we have taken your advice and painted the lettering in white on the stone! Property Owner
