The owners were lovely and we felt very welcome on the farm. The views from the cottage were amazing. Even though the weather was hurricane we managed to go for walks enjoying the loving area of the Peak District. The local pub which was walking distance to the cottage (although in the winter this would be across muddy fields) was very welcoming and the food was amazing. We cannot fault this cottage and would love to return again in the coming years.

The cottage itself is perfect for two people and is very comfortable. We enjoyed lighting the log burner although it is very efficient and with the underfloor heating aswell we were more than cosy. The views around, even in the winter, are breathtaking and provides a real feeling of space. It is an excellent location to visit a good number of National Trust Properties and Chatsworth is just down the road. Hardwick is a must! The High Peaks are astounding - a must drive round - even if not walking. The nearby friendly village of Chelmorton has a superb pub, The Church Inn, which serves the best quality pup grub is well worth some visits. However a toaster would have been useful as it was a bit inconvenient to have to use the grill in the oven. Also, there wasn't a plug for a hairdryer near the mirror in the bedroom. Although we were aware of the long lane leading to the cottage, a sign pointing you in the right direction would have been very useful as getting to the cottage between farm and buildings was belwildering and the lane was very very muddy with potholes.

Even though we arrived in snow ( which made everywhere look very pretty), we were warm with underfloor heating and an efficient wood burner. I have never had such a generous amount of provisions left us- coffee, tea, milk, bread, eggs, butter, cheese, tomatoes,a whole tin of chocolate biscuits as well as a bottle of Prosecco!!! We were well looked after by the owner too who answered any questions we had. There is a lovely pub a short distance away you can walk to, although we drove due to the snow. Buxton is only about 4 miles away. There are some interesting gift and boutique type shops within the old swimming baths that have been converted.
