  • "An absolute gem of a place, beautifully turned out, and superbly clean."

If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. Very dark skies too if your a stargazer, minimal light pollution. It has a field that comes right up to the l8ving room window, where some sheep were grazing, and we could see some very naughty donkeys who had the zoomies. Despite its exposed location the cottage is very cosy. Short walk into Chelmoreton which has a lovely pub. Shops are a bit distant so make sure you have your supplies, however the property owners left us some basic essentials, bread rolls, milk, butter and cheese and a pack of ground coffee, which was very handy. We look forward to returning for a longer stay.

The cottage is spacious, peaceful and well equipped with fabulous view from all the windows. Some minor issues with the door lock and a brief loss of wifi but nothing that wasn't resolved quickly. I would happily recommend five wells as a place to stay.

Lots of walking from the door, in the freshest of air up high with spectacular views. Five Wells Barn was a cosy comfortable base for the week, super clean and with much appreciated welcome goodies. Would love to return in the winter to make use of the log burner! • "I cannot rate this property and the owners highly enough."

The cottage is beautiful and set in a stunning, peaceful location. Decoration is to a high standard, the property was very clean and the owners have thought of everything. The kitchen is fully kitted out for self catering. The bathroom includes thick fluffy towels and even a bar of soap. There is a hairdryer in the wardrobe, and the bedroom has plenty of clothes storage and a good quality firm mattress. There was an extremely generous complimentary food hamper awaiting our arrival and I was so pleased to see that sustainable and eco brands were favoured. Mark and Caroline, the owners, were helpful and friendly but never intrusive. They even let us into the barn to see the newborn lambs which was a joy! This is the best cottage experience we've had and we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Mark and Caroline for all your hard work and making us feel so welcome.

Everything was perfect- warm (-2 degrees outside) comfortable, magnificent views, amazing window in living room looking over the fields and owner living next door should assistance be required. This was a perfect week - walking to pub across the fields (10 minutes), Castleton (30 minute easy drive), Edale (30 minute easy drive) all provided excellent walks. Of course some days we walked from the barn and left the car due to the excellent location. Highly recommended.

Inside is very nice and spacious. Bathroom is great. Take flip flop or slippers as flooring is nice stone slabs. Great place to escape to for a chill out week but I was working. Next time will be spring or summer with wine & books. Could have sat outside for hours watching the animals and views. Still got a phone signal which was disappointing and lots of TV channels so hardly off grid! Honestly, I could live in that fully fitted very comfortable barn…….

We loved it. It was clean, had everthing we needed and it suited us very well. The range of goodies left for our arrival was excellent too. We cannot fault the property or it's owners. The only possible downside for some - although we loved it - could be it's remoteness, high in the Derbyshire peaks. Not for anyone who wants to be in or very near a built up area. It was, however, easy to get to shops and places of interest. The local pub, serving a good range of ales and food, is about a mile away, either by road or along footpaths. The views and scenery from the cottage are outstanding and we're hoping to make a return visit in the future.
