  • "We really enjoyed staying at this homely, comfy flat."

Its in a fabulous location to enjoy all that Buxton has to offer, especially the Pavilion Gardens which are a few minutes walk away. We loved the modern kitchen and bathroom and really felt like we were 'coming home' every evening, especially when the weather wasn't so good. We really appreciated, too, the comfy bed, wine and milk, and all the extras like flannels, soap etc... it had everything we needed. We had a little difficulty knowing which parking bay to use, and where the entrance to the flat was, so maybe better instructions for this would be good, but otherwise the flat was absolutely perfect and we would thoroughly recommend, and try to return if visiting the area again.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are in touch with the management committee to try and get the numbers on the parking space re - painted and will amend the welcome email so that the location is clearer thanks again every good wish Lillian Property Owner

  • "What a perfect and delightful flat, it had everything you could possibly need and more!"

! The welcome pack was a lovely touch. It was comfortable, plenty big enough for two people and only 5 minutes from shops, pubs and the park. It is also well placed for walks and touring of the Peak District and Derbyshire, Bakewell is a must on a Monday for the market! The opening to the parking space is not big and not easy to find especially if someone parks on the road in front of the marker stone but drive slowly as you pass the park entrance on the left and you will see it 20 yards further on the right. That is the only negative thing we can say about this lovely flat and it's hardly worth mentioning....

The apartment was quiet, despite being on a busy road and you heard nothing from other flat occupants. The apartment was very well located, right near the centre of Buxton. There was one drawback however, the parking space was under trees and our lovely car was covered with sticky stuff all over, which took some effort to remove. We therefore parked on Park Road for the remaining time, which was unfortunate.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry about the tree, the gardens are maintained by an outside company, I will se what can be done very best wishes Lillian Property Owner

It was very close to the town centre so great for visiting places & with the snow that feel heavily during the 2nd half of the week's stay - very handy to go & buy food & supplies from Waitrose. The owner also kindly offered further days to ride out the snow but these were not needed. If there was 1 very picky criticism it would be the size of the bath towels - they need to have big fluffy bath sheets. But as stated that's picky...though all in all a lovely stay & would be very happy to return

The Haven is in a large building which has been broken up into Apartments. If you come into Buxton from Ashbourne you will come to Park Road on the left opposite a sign indicating the name of the hill - Park Road is circular. We found the parking spaces to be slightly unclear due to the markings rubbing off but didn't have a problem with not being able to park. The apartment is accessed via an entrance which gives access to apartments 1&2. The apartment is compact but spacious and comfortable. The Kitchen was well appointed with a great level of equipment - we had a small issue because the pans weren't working on the hob but we emailed the owner who resolved it very quickly. We did find it a little dark in the dining area- although the windows are huge the trees provide a lot of shade and the lighting didn't help too much. We were slightly confused by the bins - there are two enclosed areas for recycling and general waste bins but the residents seem to rotate the bins for collection out of the enclosed areas so one bin is not with the other ones. We really enjoyed the Haven, it was a great base to explore Buxton

]Athough it is within easy walking distance of all the town facilities it is set far enough back from the road to be lovely and quiet .It is very well equipped and very comfortable. We appreciated the tea and coffee and bottles of wine and milk which were awaiting us. The cooking facilities were generally excellent with a superb large fridge/freezer and a really good cooker/ceramic hob. The only niggle here was that a couple of the pans were losing their non-stick PTFE coating, resulting is some black specks in food cooked in them. Overall we had a superb week and hope to book the apartment again. The only thing that could have improved our holiday would have been a couple of portable chairs we could have taken out into the garden to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather we had all week.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
