  • "1A Market Square is a delightfully presented cottage in fabulous historical Tideswell."

Well situated near 3 great Pubs (all which serve excellent food) with a local convenience store and Café but a minute or two away which is a must for me due to some disability issues. The cottage itself is on 3 floors which I was aware of prior to booking and although I considered that this would present some small issues for me I wasn't put off and I am so glad I wasn't as I found the stairs to be easily navigable with a little care. I would state at this point though, that for a wheelchair bound customer that this would not be suitable but for me and my family it was perfect. Checking in and out also could not be more convenient as the owners have a great system in place. In a nutshell, a lovely holiday cottage in a great location.

So glad you enjoyed the cottage and your stay in tideswell, thanks for the great review. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is ideally located in the village of Tideswell."

The cottage, although spread over 3 floors, is quite small. It was OK for the 2 of us (plus dog) but I would not want to stay here with any more than that. Our biggest issue was that there is no enclosed outdoor space so you have to keep your dog on a lead at all times when sitting outside as you are adjacent to a road (that does get busy sometimes). Tideswell is a lovely village, however, the church bells ring every quarter of an hour, 24 hours per day, which I found very intrusive....especially during the night. We were at least 200m away from the church but they can be clearly heard during the night even with the windows shut! Unsurprisingly this stops people buying property close to the church according to people we spoke to.

The living room is small and would struggle to fit four adults comfortably but if you’re using it as a base to be out and about then it’s perfect. The owners have left lots of items for you including binoculars and a wooden walking stick if required. Only thing I think to mention is if you are two people staying but require separate rooms, then make this known when booking. We arrived to find the second bedroom was not made up as it was assumed a two person booking was a couple (we were but that’s besides the point). I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to those looking for a Peak District Base for a few days.

  • "Entry was difficult because no emails had been answered and we had to phone the company when we arrived."

Not a good start. We feel that for £320 a night for 4 people, we should have had a luxury stay. There was no milk or welcome food pack (eg small loaf, jam, butter, milk to make a small breakfast). The website states entry after 3am and leave before 10am (very early for 4 people with one bathroom on a Sunday!) - not long enough considering the price paid. The shower door and other areas were not very clean and there were no toiletries in the shower area except a bottle of hand washing liquid near the sink and an empty can of air freshener! We had to use that to shower because we thought there would at least be shower gel. There was one hand towel between 4 people! Although the cottage was in a lovely position, for the price charged we expected more luxuries. If we wanted cheap and cheerful, we could have booked that type of accommodation and it would have included a breakfast and probably more facilities.
