  • "We had a wonderful time at 'The Wee lodge."

' The mini welcome hamper, milk in the fridge and complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits, was a lovely surprise. Thank you so much. As was the Christmas tree & decorations, felt very homely & welcoming, again - thank you. The facilities have just about everything you need, it's warm & cosy. The location is perfect, quite & peaceful, close to many visitor attractions. We recommend visiting:- The National Wallace Monument, The Kelpies, The Falkirk Wheel. Also - Dollar is a picturesque village with a lovely walk to the castle & the Dollar Inn has an extensive menu, catering for all dietary requirements. Heather, Mark, Thor.

What made it feel really special was all the extra little items that were left for us and was really appreciated. This lodge is in a really quiet area and is ideal for touring around. We only met the owners once and they were very friendly. We are in our late 60s so we have stayed in many different types of accommodation and we would rate this among the very best we have stayed in.I would reccommend this accommodation 100%

Thank you so much for your kind words, it really is appreciated and we’re so happy you enjoyed your stay. Kind regards Heather & Jessie Property Owner

  • "Very spacious & well equipped lodge, set in the beautiful & quiet Glendevon."

Easy reach of all main roads to placea like Stirling & Perth. Also lovely drives to smaller townz & villages. The only thing I think should be added is a folder with information of the nearest shop, doctor (maybe even a vet, as it is a dog friendly let), recommended places to eat, places to visit & also whether rubbish needs to be separated for recycling. We had a very friendly welcome & Jessie sorted out a problem with the TV immediately. The neighbours were very friendly too. We had a great holiday & would definitely recommend the Wee Lodge, if you want a peaceful place to stay.

  • "Fantastic holiday!"

Lodge was a hidden gem, found in a desperate search for relaxation. Unusual to find a per friendly listing of this quality. Hadn’t heard of Sykes cottages before, but will be keeping their app, as the communication and info sent was both useful and informative. If every property they have is of the standard we had this week, we will be booking with them for many years to come.

  • "The wee lodge is comfortable, very clean, and a lovely little lodge with everything you need, no complaints what so ever."

Unfortunately I was going with a relative, who unfortunately had come into contact with someone who tested positive for covid and had to self isolate, when I phoned Sykes to cancel, I was told I could change my weekend to sometime next year, however if I cancelled I would forfeit all money which I could not afford to lose, and could not rearrange to next year as I don’t know what the future holds, therefore I had to go myself with my dog which was not enjoyable as it could have been with my relative and her dog. Therefore no matter what the covid rules are unless you change dates you will forfeit all your money with Sykes.

  • "We found the Wee Lodge met our needs, Jessie the property manager couldn't do enough for us and was very friendly and helpful."

Yet again we found the residents to be friendly having stayed last year in another Lodge. Decor is a bit basic but hey when you've got such lovely scenery outside why would you want anything but basic inside. But the property is very homely and comfortable. Excellent location with majority of tourist attractions within an hour's drive e.g. Loch Lomand, Wallace Monument etc. All in all an enjoyable week just wish it could start on a Saturday but to do that comes with a premium. Looking forward to going back later in the year.

The property

The Wee Lodge is a detached lodge situated in Glendevon Country Park, Scotland.

The property is in an elevated position and would be unsuitable for those with limited mobility, despite the accommodation all being located on the ground floor.

Entering the lodge into a spacious hallway, you will be led into an open-plan living room with a plush sofa and two armchairs surrounding an electric fireplace and a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall.

There are side double doors leading outside, which have wonderful views over the surrounding lodges and greenery.

All rooms have a light and minimal decor, which coincides with the outdoor rustic theme.

There is a small dining area with seating for up to four people, as well as a fitted kitchen with high-quality white cabinets and wooden worktops, packed with all the equipment you could need.

Along the hallway are two spacious bedrooms; one double with an en-suite shower room, and a twin.

Both bedrooms have top of the range wooden furniture and cupboards for storing your personal belongings.

There is a family bathroom with a luxurious bath, ideal for late night soaks.

The room has a similar neutral decor as the other rooms, however it also has an attractive blue tiling around the bathroom fittings, giving the room some character.

Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Dollar is not a place to be missed, as it is ideally located near various tourist attractions.

Castle Campbell, a medieval castle, was the lowland seat of the earls and dukes of Argyll from the 15th to the 19th century, and was visited by Mary Queen of Scots in the 16th century.

There are opportunities for sightseeing, walking, cycling and hill walking in the expansive local countryside, including Dollar Glen, found in the Ochils that dramatically mark the Highland fault.

Steeped in history, visit Clackmannan Tower, a five-storey tower house situated at the summit of King's Seat Hill.

The Wee Lodge is ideal for a couple or small family to enjoy the town and explore the local area.

About the location

DOLLAR

Tillicoultry 3 miles; Kinross 12 miles; Stirling 13 miles; Dunfermline 13 miles

Dollar sits at the foot of the Ochil Hills on the road between Stirling and St Andrews. The town is dramatically overlooked by the remains of Castle Campbell, also known as Castle Gloom, and has superb walks up the steep glen to the castle. The early life of the village was fulfilling the needs of the castle’s owners, the lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, until the castle was burned down in 1654 in retaliation for the Duke’s support for Cromwell. The village recovered in the 18th century with the opening of copper and lead mines in the surrounding hills and with subsequent ironworks enhancing its prosperity. With the opening of the prestigious Dollar Academy at the beginning of the 19th century, the village transformed into the attractive and prosperous town it is today. The town has a mix of shops and cafes and the drive or walk up the glen to the castle provides stunning views as the countryside opens out to the south. The popular tourist town of Stirling is 13 miles to the west with its dramatic castle and monument to William Wallace. Gleneagles and Perth are within easy reach, as is the Fife coast and St Andrews.
