  • "Lovely welcoming cottage and beautiful location."

Would be more than happy to stay again.

  • "The cottage was lovely and most of the facilities were impressive."

However, the wi-fi was almost non-existent and none of our party (5) could make or receive phone calls on our mobiles. Even walking up the hill a couple of hundred yards did not produce a network connection. We were from three different households, all with children and grandchildren whom we like to stay in contact with, but this was not possible once we returned to the cottage each evening. One of our group, who is self-employed, left 2 days earlier than planned because he was out of reach of his customers for long periods. He texted my sister at 9pm to let her know that he arrived home safely, but this was not received until over 2 hours later by her. She could not phone him, as no network. Planning day trips without a signal for GPS was problematic and we had to drive a mile up the road before we could do this. I think we should have been informed that the wi-fi was very sporadic and phone network would be lost, particularly given the price that we paid. Also, the cottage, although lovely, was very dark and the very small patio areas did not get any evening sunshine, which was a shame, as it would have been nice to have had the option to dine outside, as you do when on holiday and the weather is beautiful.

We are glad to hear you thought our 18th century cottage was lovely. With regard to mobile signal this would have been explained to you if we could have contacted you prior to your visit . We provide a landline which can be used and the telephone number is in the cottage information pack. We were concerned that you had not contacted us 48 hours before your arrival and we ended up contacting Sykes to give you the code for the key safe. Regarding the broadband we hadn't had any problems with the internet as we stayed the week before your visit, unfortunately in the village we don't get fibre optic broadband. When Bob rang on the Monday evening he said if there were any problems do not hesitate to ring us or the housekeeper, but neither of us or Sykes had any communication from yourselves so we could rectify the problem, the first we knew about it was when the review was posted. We have since had it checked and there doesn't seem to be an issue with it, so it must have been a blip in the system. We are always happy to help where possible. Regards Lucy & Bob Property Owner

The owners make sure every need is catered for. It’s the cottage that keeps on giving! The area is idyllic and although it is a bit far from major towns, it’s not a problem. This cottage is quite probably my ideal home. We were so sad to leave...

  • "Star Mill cottage is a lovely place to stay for exploring west Wales."

We were me and my wife in the open plan bedroom, 2 children in the twin room and my Dad in the double bedroom. The facilities were great, with us finding things around the cottage every day that we didn't think we needed e.g. Ice blocks in the freezer, cool boxes, body boards for the kids, beach parasol, catchup TV, blue ray player, dvd's, books, OS maps, washing powder, tea, coffee, cling film, tupawere. Thank you to Bob And Lucy, a really well thought out holiday property that you obviously care about and want others to enjoy as much as you do.

  • "Having read the rave reviews we were disappointed, cottage is extremely dark , densely populated with furniture ( eg."

abundance of seating considering it is only for six people maximum) Main bedroom lacks privacy if more than 2 adults staying we did not have issue with this as there was only 2 of us. Bed extremely uncomfortable and overcrowded with furniture. The upstairs toilet facilities make it difficult for a male to address due to sloping ceiling and beams. Parking for a larger car is difficult. On the positive side the down stairs shower room was very good and kitchen well equipped. The location is good.

  • "Lovely clean and comfortable cottage in a quiet hamlet but near to pubs and beaches."

So restful sitting next to the stream listening to all the birds. The owners' kindly provided a starter pack of milk, fresh eggs, brownies, wine and doggie treats. There was also a well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee and sugar to start the stay off. One of the houses had an honesty box where you could buy a box of half dozen fresh eggs for a £1 and they were the best eggs ever had for breakfast. The shower was brilliant and the bath was a real decadent experience, due to the high water pressure a little bit of bubble bath went a long way, only thing I didn't think of was a glass of bubbly! Won't forget next time. It was a lovely touch that the owner's rang on the Sat to check if everything was okay. As they had left full instructions on how everything worked luckily I didn't need to bother them. Would certainly go back and would highly recommend if you want a nice peaceful place to stay but near to everything you need to enjoy the holiday.

The cottage was beautiful very well appointed and extremely comfortable. We loved exploring the local area and found lots to do. I can highly recommend the Ferry Inn at St Dogmeals as the food was very good and they welcomed dogs. The little touches left by the owners of the cottage were very much appreciated we had wine and chocolates and treats for our dog. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage. Thank you

The owners called before we set off just in case we had any questions. We spent Christmas with our 3 children, again the owner called to find out names and ages and on our arrival there were 3 presents under the tree as well as a bottle of bubbly, some lovely biscuits and Christmas crackers. We have had the best time and have made some lovely memories. Huge thanks to all

  • "We had a lovely time at the cottage, and although it was a little off the beaten track, once we became orientated it was quite easy to visit lots of places."

The cottage itself was extremely well equipped having 2 bathrooms, one with a shower. It was very spacious but quaint and had every utensil one would want or need. The mezzanien-type master bedroom did not give much privacy to the occupants, but it is probably to be expected in such old properties. The response to a small problem we had with setting up the television was instant and greatly appreciated. The local people were great and, overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The beds were extremely comfortable, as were the sofas, and a good selection of books meant we weren't short of bedtime reading either! If we'd had longer, we would no doubt have enjoyed a few of the DVDs there too. We were really happy with the cottage, inside and out. The secure garden areas were a real plus as well. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making this a really cosy, comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.
