"We had an amazing stay at the church, our dog maverick felt comfortable for his 1st vaccination so that was great, the accommodation itself was great locality to the beach was great."
Only down side we had was finding a parking space and no outside space for us or the dog. Area around the church was a building site which I understood but could have been kept tidy. All in all would I stay again no but only because there was no outside area for the dog or us to chill in of an evening.
"A beautiful, modern and comfortable conversion within walking distance to the beach."
We had a very enjoyable stay; thank you for the welcome pack and doggy treats. The only downside is that there is no outside space at all which would have been helpful at this time of year to rinse walking boots, wellies and the dog. Having said that, we managed with the porch. I would recommend this cottage due to its proximity to stunning beaches and how comfortable it was to stay.
"Absolutely fabulous place."
Cosy and great amenities plenty of options for delivery of takeaways beautiful beaches and lovely people! Was left a bottle of wine and some Welsh cakes upon arrival! Winner!
"Great place and loverly lodging would recommend, weather was a let down but you ..."
Great place and loverly lodging would recommend, weather was a let down but you cant odds that ,and opposite the chip shop great many thanks
"A beautiful old building in a reasonable location, which is great for exploring."
The potential for this property is fantastic as the conversion has been undertake very well. Everything you need is there in the property, but this was unfortunately let down poor maintenance and cleanliness. However, were able to reflect this to the owners -who took the comments on board and this will hopefully be taken up with their cleaning company. The owners were every responsive when we encountered a problem with the boiler (which was fixed the very next day).
Hi, Thanks for the positive aspects of your feedback. The minor issues that you drew our attention to have been looked at. Regards, Sarah Property Owner
"A lovely property with quirky features."
Located close to restaurants and a children's park, it was a lovely base for our mini break. Only recommendation is that it needs a bit of TLC. Would be nice to modernise, freshen and revitalise a few items, maybe some bathroom soaps, new furnishings, crockery and pictures in the living room as it seemed very old and used. Property owner was very proactive in providing details of arrival and was also so kind to post back items we left behind.
Hi, Thanks for the positive comments. In response to your recommendation the main feel of the church is to keep the old fashioned, lived in character and authenticity with a slight modern twist. This stays true to it's nature and is reflected in the surroundings. There is also access to pump activated hand wash in the bathrooms. Kind Regards. Property Owner
"Lovely property that had everything you could possibly need for a relaxed holiday."
The hosts are really nice and respond to questions quickly. We used it as a base to explore the area and there was so much to do within an hour of the property including zip world, caves, waterfalls, country parks and historical places. Having the pub just down the road was great for when you got back from a busy day out.
"Lovely accommodation & the owner left us some treats for our arrival."
Perfect location for the beach in a 5 minute walk so although there is no garden we were on the beach every night for our late walk with the dog. Very convenient for the Gower Peninsula beaches which were stunning & so quiet. Weather was incredible so we were lucky & will definitely be back!
"The cottage was lovely but the owners could do with telling people who book what is there."
As we took our dog crate and there was already one there. The owners could let people know what they have in the cottage.
"Lovely comfortable quirky and unique had everything you needed perfect getaway"
"We had a fabulous time."
The beach was amazing . And the welcome gifts we had were very thoughtful because we forgot milk! So we was very happy to see milk in the fridge and my friend was very grateful for the wine. Will definitely book again
"Lovely property, well equipped and perfect location to explore the surrounding area."
"Lovely place and well fitted out."
Atmosphere of an old building with lots of period features but with new interior, plenty of plug sockets and good wifi. Owners are really helpful and kind. Parking is on the street but there was no problem getting a spot. There was a bit of noise at the weekend from people leaving the nearby pub but on the whole was a quiet stay. Beach so close for the dog and easy walk into town (20 mins walk). Was clean on the surface but lots of dust under the wardrobes and on beams; likely caused by the building works which we were made aware of. Definitely would recommend the place.
"Great base location to travel from ,all you need around you."
Shop, pub, and chippy. few minute walk to the beech. had a great week. deb n john..
"Comfortable and well placed for exploring the Gower."
Easy access to green space and the beach for walking the dog. No outside space at the property.
"We had another lovely stay at 1 Church Cottages."
The cottage is quirky and comfortable with modern facilities. Location is great for us as its quite central to places we like to visit. Looking forward to another visit. Diolch, Claire and James
"Beautiful restoration, it's becoming our 'happy place'."
Everything you need is provided, clean, comfortable, dog friendly. 100% recommend xx
"A lovely cottage, well equipped and conveniently located for the places we wished to visit."
"We were shocked to find the next door property derelict."
Some warning of this maybe helpful?
"Lovely cottage, great location, close to the beach, very comfortable stay."
One thing, that could be addressed is the clear glass in the ensuite bathroom door.
"The cottage is wonderful, so roomy and airy and with all the necessities, plus luxurious extras, ensuring the stay was comfortable."
We weren't sure there was going to be much to do around Llanelli and expected to drive to the Gower everyday, but the welcome pack highlighted key attractions in other directions and we have a great time exploring. The National Botanic Gardens were particularly great, and the Millennium Path within a stone's throw away was a lovely surprise.
"So many good things to say about Church Cottages."
Hosts: Sarah & Julian have the right balance. Quick to respond when asked. Friendly communication at start and end of holiday. No 1 is spacious and coped easily with 2 adults and a dog and is located close to the beach. Four will be just as comfortable I'm sure. Location is ideal for visiting, Swansea, The Gower, Mumbles, Tenby and various sites of interest and beauty. If I had a gripe and this is not fault of S&J. I would like to have something to inform and guide me around Llanelli and its past. What we saw.and found was interesting but felt there was more to see. Good luck S&J with cottages 2 & 3..
"Lovely comfortable, clean cottage, conveniently located for the beach, wider Gower area."
.. and a fish n chips shop opposite! The owners went 'above and beyond' with help - highly recommended.
"Llanelli itself is a dump!"
It's dirty, litter-strewn and economically depressed. The two pubs within walking distance were both closed down and the other pubs in the area were horrible. As for the local beach, I have never seen such amounts of litter and plastic debris. I know that these comments reflect on Llanelli, and not the cottage itself, but if I live to be 100 I never will go back there.
"The cottage is very special."
We enjoyed every thing about it. Kind regards Yvonne and ivor.
"What a privilege to be able to stay in such a wonderful church conversion."
The accommodation is superb with lots of space and real attention to detail. The location is also perfect for access to the coast path and very close to the train station. Parking is on street but there is plenty of space available. A real bonus was the fish and chip shop directly opposite the property.
"This is a pet-friendly cottage, we took our two hounds who loved the place."
Thoughtful owners left jar of dog treats on table - nice touch. However, there is no garden or patio with the property so any day/night “doggy comfort breaks” have to be done by a short walk. There are plenty of places to exercise your dog(s) virtually on the doorstep. This would not put us off returning. It’s a well appointed refurbishment in a great location, ideally situated for walking lengths of the Millennium Coat Path. Loved it.
"A lovely holiday cottage in an interesting part of Wales."
High standard of accommodation with some quirky features and good facilities. The cottage has good access to the coast and local amenities. Very close to the station so a good base for exploring the region by public transport.
"The church was beautiful, it was like a show home and had everything you needed."
It was only a short walk to the beach and coastal path. Ideally situated to use as a base. Chip shop opposite was nice. Thoughtful gesture of wine and chocolates from the owners. Would definitely recommend it.
"Very good accommodation done to a very good standard"
"Not much to do in Llanelli itself, but the flat provides an excellent home base for exploring SW Wales."
Very clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious. Two bathrooms! Excellent value.
"The cottage was absolutely amazing,it's been renovated to high standard but still ."
Keeping some of the original features, it was very clean, really cosy,a home from home, near to the beach and a 15/20 walk into town,we was made to feel very welcome and the added touches like an iron board iron hairdryer towels ect. Shows how much thought they've put in to make everybody's stay relaxed and enjoyable..... highly recommend
"Very happy with the process and experience"
"Lovely cottage, close enough to the coast to walk the dogs and kids and a short walk to town for all your other needs."
The welcome pack was a nice surprise. If your bring a dog just to remember there is no garden but as I've said close to the beach and sea wall (5min walk). You go past a pub to get there.Nice cafe at the beach front , millennium coastal walk great for walks and cyclist's.
"Excellent accommodation, fantastic hosts, fab kitchen facilties, travel cot and highchair provided which was a god send"
"Blinds on the velux windows in the bedrooms would be appreciated for a better nights sleep."
Ideally situated for local visitor attractions.
"The property was previously a church, it had retained some of the original features and had a lovely atmosphere."
The facilities were comfortable and clean. The cottage welcomed dogs and were furnished with that in mind eg:- dog cage, easy clean floors. The master bed was comfy and the bedding smelt lovely, lovely en suite with a very interesting floor ? five minutes from the beach and lovely sea front. The owners had left a welcome pack which we enjoyed. The kitchen was very well equipped, including al the cleaning products needed, tea towels etc. The owner was easy to contact and very communicative. Will be back, a lovely snuggly place to stay whilst we visit our son and family.
"Really lovely place to stay with lots of lovely features."
"Fantastic holiday home x Beautifully restored and a short walk to the beach x"
"The cottage was excellent in both comfort and upkeep, the welcome pack was also excellent, recommend this place to everyone, location is close to beach and the general store has everything one requires."
Pubs..one fair with good breakfasts and choice of beers and wines, the other not to be recommended as it was filthy and unkempt.
"Hi All, My partner and I (and Dog, Nellie) had a 4 night stay here from 14th to 18th March 2018."
One of the main factors for us was the fact it used to be a Church! Was hoping it might be a bit spooky but actually, quite the opposite! Very warm and welcoming cottage with lots of equipment to maintain a self sufficient stay. The decor is brilliant and detail is second to none. The cottage is very clean but still has that old property feel that is great. Spacious and cozy at the same time. The feature staircase is superb as is the main bedroom bathroom flooring. You will see if you book. The ONLY two things we can comment on are: 1. The bedroom skylights do not have any type of blind - If you are a light sleeper, bring some eye masks. 2. The shower pressure is not great. The bin collection is times can be found here - http://www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/media/1213110/waste-collection-calendar2017-ws.pdf As far as I can see, just put the bags outside before 6am on the particular days. The Bucket & Spade Pub down the road (Out door, turn left, at the end on the right) does a GREAT breakfast from 10:00hrs for £4.95 and is huge! Definitely worth a visit. We would stay here again. For us, the main winner here is the actual property. Its a CHURCH! How often can you stayed in a Church. I did do some research into the Church and couldn't find much but if anyone can find it, please print it off and leave it in the guest book :) Yours, Naomi, Daran and Nellie.
"A lovely, comfortable conversion of the little church."
Well appointed kitchen with plenty of equipment. Milk, wine and chocolate in the fridge very thought full. Only downside, no outside space. However with miles of coastal path a five minute stroll away fresh air is easy to come by. There's also a friendly pub just up the road with outside seating for summer evenings.
"The church was nicely renovated."
It was very comfortable. Had everything there you could need. Julian and Sarah were lovely and friendly. Nice touch having a bottle of wine and some lager in fridge. Would recommend this holiday let.
"A lovely property with everything you could possibly need, its in an ideal location to get anywhere."
The beach and coastal path 5 minute walk with some great views, theres a shop and pub a few doors down and a chip shop opposite. The Church has been refurbished to a very high standard and really does deserve to be treated like its your own, its a large property with large lounge and a lovely Kitchen with downstairs toilet. The bathroom is stunning and I love the lighting, the property has 2 large bedrooms and the main bedroom has an ensuite. We were visiting my daughter (and first grandson) who lives in Swansea, its been the coldest week I can ever remember lol but we really enjoyed our stay at The Church. We were made very welcome by the owners and we also found the locals very welcoming. We used local pub and shops and will certainly go again. Highly recommend.
"The Church Cottage in Llanelli was amazing."
A beautifully converted church completed to an extremely high standard. The owners were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and have made the cottage very cosy and homely place. Only 5 minutes from the beach, the local pub and shop were even closer. In our party there were 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog, we had plenty of space and all loved it. A lovely place to stay for a relaxing holiday. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back!
"1 Church Cottages provided an idyllic 2 week stay."
Very spacious, well equipped and full of character and charm. Julian and Sarah were gracious hosts and even provided beer, wine, milk and treats for our arrival (which was greatly appreciated after a long drive!). A great location with a quick walk into town for shops, pubs and take-aways. Also a fantastic location to explore South Wales as well as the beautiful towns of Tenby and St Davids, provided you have a car. Highly recommend this property! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
"I was looking for a property specifically in Llanelli to visit family and found the Sykes website easy to use to find exactly what I was looking for."
The property was excellent value for money, extremely well decorated and gave us everything we needed. The owners have done a super job with this conversion and couldn't have been more helpful both in the lead up to our stay and whilst we were there. Everything has been thought of within the house, and the owner has taken great care to retain much of the character of the original chapel. We had a lovely weekend here and would love to go back. Would absolutely recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay in the area.
