  • "The location of the cottage was great, just a short walk to the beach."

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the cottage was disappointing upon arrival. The dishes and pots were oily and chipped, and the kitchen was not well-equipped and in dire need of an update. The vacuum cleaner had a bad odor and lacked proper suction, while the drawers and fridge were dirty. The cushions and blankets were old, worn, and appeared unclean. The small hair dryer was faulty, constantly overheating and failing to work. When I raised this issue with the owner, she insisted that it was functioning and asked me to manage with it. Most surfaces were smeared, and while the owner did send someone to clean, the results were underwhelming, and the bathroom still had mold. The cottage had potential to be a lovely space, but it needs better upkeep, cleaning, and updated amenities to truly be enjoyable for guests.

In response to your comments: We have a star rating of 4.6 which comes out as outstanding. The kitchen is plentiful and has everything you could possibly need even down to foil and kitchen roll. The dishes and pots are not oily and I know this because they were cleaned before your arrival and then again when you raised the issue as a gesture of goodwill. The old character of the church is evident in the kitchen with a modern kitchen suite and all appliances in working order. There is no need for an update. The hoover works fine and I have video evidence to support this. Drawers and fridge were fine as they were cleaned and checked. The character of the cushions and blankets fit the authenticity of the church and are washed regularly and also sprayed with fabric freshener. But again as a gesture of goodwill the cleaner brought different ones. There is a safety feature on the hairdryer which I did point out to you, it means that it automatically switches off if it gets too hot. I did suggest that you switch it off and leave it to reboot and cool down. I did not say 'manage with it' Surfaces were wiped by the cleaner before and then during your stay again as a goodwill gesture due to your complaint. I know the results were not underwhelming as I checked again. I would also like to point out that you were still in the property a long time after check out when my cleaner arrived. You were rude to her saying you had to walk the dog, you had to rush etc..and that you didn't know check out was 10am. She had to wait for you to leave. All guests are made aware of check in/check out time when you book with Sykes. The late departure had a knock on effect for the changeover putting added stress and pressure on my cleaner. You also left a lot of twig/branch parts in the property which were clearly from your dog after a walk. This was very difficult to clean up and not acceptable considering there are bins in the property and one outside by the bus stop. Property Owner

  • "A beautifully converted chapel cottage."

Spacious, and very comfortable. An extremely well fitted kitchen, with everything you could need. Bathroom and ensuite upstairs could both benefit from a shelf for putting things on. Our main concern was absolutely no outdoor space. For a dog friendly cottage, this was a problem. The front door opened straight to the pavement, by a fairly busy road. It didn't mention in the property details, if there was or wasn't outdoor space, but we, sadly, assumed there was. Property was in such a fantastic location, we'd have loved to go back, but unable to with our dog.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. The 1st picture does show the front door in conjunction to the road. All the pictures cover all facilities of the property. If there isn't a picture it means we don't have it..eg:outdoor space. However yes we can include it in the written description. It says how close the beach is in the description in order to walk dogs. Regards, Sarah Property Owner

The cottage was clean and comfortable and well stocked with everything you need from crockery and cutlery to pots and pans, and we loved the Welsh cakes left out for us on our arrival and the milk in the fridge. There was a fish and chip chop opposite which served the best fish and chips I've tasted in a long while. Everyone was really friendly and Llanelli is a good point to discover the surrounding area. I would definitely come back to this area and would recommend this cottage.

Only down side we had was finding a parking space and no outside space for us or the dog. Area around the church was a building site which I understood but could have been kept tidy. All in all would I stay again no but only because there was no outside area for the dog or us to chill in of an evening.

  • "A beautiful, modern and comfortable conversion within walking distance to the beach."

We had a very enjoyable stay; thank you for the welcome pack and doggy treats. The only downside is that there is no outside space at all which would have been helpful at this time of year to rinse walking boots, wellies and the dog. Having said that, we managed with the porch. I would recommend this cottage due to its proximity to stunning beaches and how comfortable it was to stay.

The potential for this property is fantastic as the conversion has been undertake very well. Everything you need is there in the property, but this was unfortunately let down poor maintenance and cleanliness. However, were able to reflect this to the owners -who took the comments on board and this will hopefully be taken up with their cleaning company. The owners were every responsive when we encountered a problem with the boiler (which was fixed the very next day).

  • "A lovely property with quirky features."

Located close to restaurants and a children's park, it was a lovely base for our mini break. Only recommendation is that it needs a bit of TLC. Would be nice to modernise, freshen and revitalise a few items, maybe some bathroom soaps, new furnishings, crockery and pictures in the living room as it seemed very old and used. Property owner was very proactive in providing details of arrival and was also so kind to post back items we left behind.

Hi, Thanks for the positive comments. In response to your recommendation the main feel of the church is to keep the old fashioned, lived in character and authenticity with a slight modern twist. This stays true to it's nature and is reflected in the surroundings. There is also access to pump activated hand wash in the bathrooms. Kind Regards. Property Owner

Atmosphere of an old building with lots of period features but with new interior, plenty of plug sockets and good wifi. Owners are really helpful and kind. Parking is on the street but there was no problem getting a spot. There was a bit of noise at the weekend from people leaving the nearby pub but on the whole was a quiet stay. Beach so close for the dog and easy walk into town (20 mins walk). Was clean on the surface but lots of dust under the wardrobes and on beams; likely caused by the building works which we were made aware of. Definitely would recommend the place.

It's dirty, litter-strewn and economically depressed. The two pubs within walking distance were both closed down and the other pubs in the area were horrible. As for the local beach, I have never seen such amounts of litter and plastic debris. I know that these comments reflect on Llanelli, and not the cottage itself, but if I live to be 100 I never will go back there.

Thoughtful owners left jar of dog treats on table - nice touch. However, there is no garden or patio with the property so any day/night “doggy comfort breaks” have to be done by a short walk. There are plenty of places to exercise your dog(s) virtually on the doorstep. This would not put us off returning. One of the main factors for us was the fact it used to be a Church! Was hoping it might be a bit spooky but actually, quite the opposite! Very warm and welcoming cottage with lots of equipment to maintain a self sufficient stay. The decor is brilliant and detail is second to none. The cottage is very clean but still has that old property feel that is great. Spacious and cozy at the same time. The feature staircase is superb as is the main bedroom bathroom flooring. You will see if you book. The ONLY two things we can comment on are: 1. The bedroom skylights do not have any type of blind - If you are a light sleeper, bring some eye masks. 2. The shower pressure is not great. The bin collection is times can be found here - http://www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/media/1213110/waste-collection-calendar2017-ws.pdf As far as I can see, just put the bags outside before 6am on the particular days. The Bucket & Spade Pub down the road (Out door, turn left, at the end on the right) does a GREAT breakfast from 10:00hrs for £4.95 and is huge! Definitely worth a visit. We would stay here again. For us, the main winner here is the actual property. Its a CHURCH! How often can you stayed in a Church. I did do some research into the Church and couldn't find much but if anyone can find it, please print it off and leave it in the guest book :) Yours, Naomi, Daran and Nellie.
