  • "Fabulous cottage in the heart of a beautiful sleepy village."

Perfect for our friends and family NY getaway. The cottage itself is perfectly described, everything you could want and more for the stay, can’t believe how well equipped it was. The owners were super friendly & helpful. Hot tub was delightful and the beds/bedrooms were perfect. We had the most wonderful stay complete with roaring fire, country dog walks & relaxing hot tub afternoons. Would 100% recommend & book again. Thank you for such a welcoming stay.

Thank you for your feed back. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to seeing you again Regards Karen Property Owner

  • "We had such wonderful holiday here in November 2021."

The house was warm and welcoming, we particularly loved the kitchen dining area, great for social cooking! Once the fire gets going the living space is so snug, two seating areas was perfect, there was often a film night in one half and a games night in the other half! You'll notice how most windows are like little picture frames of the surrounding countryside. The area is beautiful with fantastic walks from the door. If you're booking here, I know the place will not let you down, enjoy.

  • "Lovely house, very friendly owners."

The only thing that maybe could be mentioned in Sykes description is; there are steps leading down to most areas, which two of us struggled with. The house is on a hill so very necessary, but for those who find steps challenging, may not be a holiday house of choice. Brilliant in every other aspect snd no problem for the able bodied. Great that dogs were welcome and safe in the garden.

It’s an excellent property, spacious and well equipped with a really lovely garden and hot tub and gorgeous views over the valley to the fells above. Owners very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Loved the area too! Wonderful walks from the doorstep and friendly village pub. We all had a wonderful time, dogs did too! Would love to return and would definitely recommend.

  • "Great place, would definitely recommend."

Very nice to arrive to fresh bread and sweets for the kids. Lovely touch. The place was perfectly clean to normal standards and absolutely fine. We would not have said anything but for the fact it was supposed to be “COVID clean” and we wouldn’t have said it had been deep cleaned eg when looking for toys down the backs of/ underneath sofas. So perhaps more guidance to both businesses and clients might help Sykes not to over promise. To make it even better, we would suggest providing a normal frying pan (the type you use for making pancakes) and more toilet paper but apart from those little niggles, it was fantastic.

  • "One of the best family holidays we have been on, was really easy to find, the owners met us on arrival and went through how everything's works, when opening the door you got the best smell ever!"

Which was fresh baked bread in the bread maker, there was also a box of chocolates and cookies waiting for us, the house is so much larger than it appears, which helped with a family of ten, we didn't seem to be stepping on anyone's toes, at night it did turn cold but the log burner was there which was wonderful to sit around and chat alongside each other, we also took 2 dogs with us who also absolutely loved it, they was constantly outside! Whilst we was there we visited the high force water and Saltburn by the sea which was about an hour away drive, but a very nice small beach, it was our first time visiting cobblers barn and we will definitely be back!! Everyone throughout enjoyed themselves and it was sad to leave, it was just the 3 day break we needed!

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at the cobblers barn."

6 of us stayed, the location is brilliant and property is beautiful. Lots of lovely walks around and little pubs a few minutes walk. My only criticism is the size of the hot tub. It says it seats 6 people however you can only fit 4 comfortably. With the property being for 10 people, I would have expected a slightly bigger hot tub. Overall we had a great holiday.

Cobblers Barn had everything we expected and more, the home baked bread was a lovely touch when we arrived. Very pleasant and helpful owner, the hot tub canopy had suffered in the strong winds and it was made safe for us to use. Would highly recommend this lovely spotless cottage. Our afternoon tea from the Michelin trained chef was amazing, a perfect end to my birthday. Thank you all.

The kitchen was extremely well equiped with plenty of crockery and cutlery, so no need to keep washing up or switching the dishwasher on. Plenty of sitting area in the lounge, plenty of DVDs and a good quality TV. Bedrooms were spacious yet cosy, bathrooms had good showers and main bathroom had a bath. Jucczi in the garden was a great bonus and imagine in the summer months the garden is a great advantage with amazing views. Home made bread on arrival from one of the owners Karen was a really nice touch and very tasty. We have used Sykes Cottages for many years now but this place is top of our list. We will go back

Clean, comfortable and spacious, and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed, and we even had a freshly-baked loaf of bread waiting for us! The hot tub and garden were fab, and we put them to good use as we were fortunate enough to have lovely weather and the garden is a sun trap. It was a shame we couldn't stay in the garden after 10pm (we were ticked-off by a neighbour at 10.05pm, even though we weren't making a lot of noise, just chatting), but I do understand that's it's a quiet village and you don't want to upset the people who live there. We had a lovely lunch in The Crown pub, which was just a short walk, but otherwise we were happy to stay in the cottage and make the most of the great facilities. I guess the only down-side was that we needed to check-out by 10am, which felt a little early... although we never questioned that and it could be that the owner (who was lovely - we had to liaise with her to get the keys) would have let us stay longer if we'd asked. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend and the group of girls I went with are all talking about us going back again next year. Thank you!

The property is fabulous; spacious yet cosy, immaculately clean and very well equipped. The hot tub was lovely, looking over the countryside. The owner met us to show us around and there was freshly baked bread to welcome us too. We had lunch at the Crown pub in the village which was really good. Even though we'd booked for the week (same price as for a weekend) we only intended to stay the weekend as we had to work during the week, but the barn was so lovely we decided to commute and stay for the full week. The hourly drive was worth it though. A great cottage and would definitely recommend.
