The flat was cosy , warm and comfortable with all the facilities to make a meal and a lovely dining area to enjoy it , the bedroom and bathroom were also well equipped and the comfy bed was perfect . We loved Wolsingham, we enjoyed the walks , the pubs and cafe and takeaways , there was everything you needed and all close to the flat and is ideally situated for trips out , we even used the local bus for a morning trip to Stanhope . Thank you for a lovely stay .

We had a great time, perfect for two! The property is in the middle of Wolsingham but quiet, good location for access to rest of Co Durham Would definitely recommend
"The property was well equipped and very clean."
Its central location made it very convenient for local amenities.
"A lovely little bolt hole in a beautiful area."
Very clean and comfortable property with everything you needed. The village has lots of facilities including a couple of pubs, an Italian restaurant, a Chinese take away, and a couple of shops that sell everything. Jackie, the owner, was most helpful and just at the end of the phone if needed.
"A beautiful apartment in a lovely part of the country."
Ideally placed to visit our family.Durham,Northumberland and coast, stunning! Can't wait to return!
"A small but lovely property in the centre of town."
The owner met us and showed us round and nothing was too much trouble. The area is beautiful with lots of walks nearby. The flat though is accessed up some 20 or more stairs and at my age found it difficult with luggage etc. Once in you had all you could need. A lovely kitchen in a warm central heated property. Bed room has a comfortable bed and ensuite. All in all a lovely break.
"Lovely accommodation great location and it's in a nice friendly village."
Enjoyed staying there very much.
"I really enjoyed my week away at the Old Queens Head in Wolsingham."
The flat was perfect for my needs and was even better than I was expecting - the photos don't do it justice. The bedroom, in particular had a lovely high ceiling and made the room feel very light and airy. It was well stocked and Jackie really has thought of everything. Everything went smoothly from the moment I met Jackie to get the key, to the moment I left. I never had any trouble finding somewhere to park at the back of the flat. The neighbours were friendly too and offered useful suggestions as to places to visit. My only gripe (and it is the only one - and pretty small) was that the oven is missing the temperature markings/dial so it was difficult to work out the oven temperature. However a combination of an internet search and trial and error sorted it. The folder of useful info did contain instructions on using the oven but I couldn't find anything about the temperature markings/dial - apologies if I missed it. All in all a great holiday, in a really lovely part of the country.
"The owner asked us to text her when we were nearby and met us with the key when we arrived, which was very convenient."
This is lovely flat in a great location - lots of useful shops nearby (the little shop across the road seems to sell everything) and lots for tourists to do in the area. The flat was spotlessly clean and very well-equipped for cooking. There are also several great places to eat out nearby. The local people were lovely and friendly. I highly recommend it and I'd definitely go back.
"No complaints at all."
Although the description states ‘parking on a first come first served basis’, there were always spaces nearby, especially outside the church. A very welcoming owner and surrounding neighbours.
"Very comfortable and well equipped, friendly owner, good central location"

The apartment was immaculate, decorated and furnished to a very high standard and extremely comfortable. It was equipped with everything needed for a home from home experience , consequently, we had a relaxing break and were grateful for the attention to detail to ensure our stay was the best it could be.Would definitely go again.

"The apartment at the The Old Queens Head was excellent, in every way!"
We left our comments in the visitors book, of interesting places in the area which it was situated. All Good!
"The apartment was comfy ,clean and well equipped."
The owner was welcoming on arrival and informative. The welcome pack was a bonus. The village has shops ,cafes and pubs within walking distance.Located on a bus route, close to the steam railway and several walks on the doorstep.A beautiful undiscovered part of the U.K. Excellent for foodies, walkers and historians.Lots of lovely tearooms, historical sights and walks.Several excellent gardening centres with excellent stocks of plants.Close to Durham and Newcastle.Looking forward to planning another visit.
"We were made to feel most welcome by Jacqui and really appreciated the welcome pack."
The flat was spotlessly clean and the kitchen contained everything you need plus more, the lounge and bedroom were very comfortable. Although we had already planned our week there were leaflets and recommendations from other visitors - there is something for everyone and it easily warrants another visit. Of all the trips we did my favourite was a trip to Roker and Seaburn - parking is only £3 a day and you can have a guided tour of the lighthouse, a walk along the front and the National Glass Centre is also within walking distance.
"A return visit to this lovely clean, comfortable and we'll appointed apartment."
A perfect base to explore Weardale and Teesdale. Greeted by the owner to show you around the apartment and general information about the village, very informative and useful. A generous welcome pack of victuals left for your enjoyment. The bed is very comfortable and I have come back home very rested and relaxed even after a busy week of activities. Wolsingham village is well appointed with shops, eateries and the people always speak and are friendly. Walking guides of circular walks starting in the village are available in the apartment. There is a range in distance and difficulty of the walk, to do. The two I have completed were delightful. This week I visited, High and Low Force Waterfalls, Lanchester Garden Centre then a Family circular walk around Wolsingham, Killhope Lead Mine Museum, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal (1 hour 10 mins away by car), Low Barnes Nature Reserve (saw a Kingfisher or two) and Escomb Anglo-Saxon Church, which is on a pilgrimage route for St. Bede. So much to see and do. This area is a hidden gem England. I will return.
"The owners were friendly and provided a welcome pack which was helpful."
Sykes need to update their records as local pub has now closed and you use Barclays Bank as a reference point in your directions which is also closed. The village cafes are excellent for breakfasts, however would recommend a visit to a supermarket before arrival as local shops are limited. The area is beautiful and we visited lots of interesting places. The villages is pretty and worth going on a walk around for the views.
"A charming, cosy property, and it was obvious that a great deal of thought, care, and effort had been put in."
The kitchen was well equipped and set out, the bed was extremely comfy, and everything was clean, tidy, and in good condition. There were a couple of minor issues, such as not being able to connect my blu-ray player up to the aging TV, but the only problem that really affected my stay was that there didn't seem to be any way to get the shower water above lukewarm - though since the apartment was generally well heated, even that wasn't too much of an issue. On the whole I'd heartily recommend the Old Queen's Head.
"This was a lovely place to stay, the apartment had everything we needed and the area had many places to visit."
We would definitely return perhaps in warmer weather to visit more of Weardale .
"A warm, clean, cosy apartment to use as a base for exploring Weardale."
Everything was as advertised, the owner met us in person and give us a warm welcome. The villagers were extremely friendly and the walks though not as challenging as the Lakes were equally as picturesque and not as busy. Would recommend this Dale if you haven't been before.
"Absolutely amazing this place was great it wash very comfy and was bigger than it looked on the photos me and my partner loved it here."
Jackie the owner was really kind and lovely and she let us stay until we wanted the day we left as no one was checking in. Recommended this to a work friend and she’s looking to book up next year! Amazing 100% would come back could easily live here
"This is lovely flat in a great location and I would like to add my recommendations to those from earlier visitors."
It's a gem, it really is. The flat is small, cosy and well fitted out and well looked after. The kitchen is modern and has everything you need to cook from scratch (there are places in the village and locally to eat out too). Jackie and Derrick are great hosts; knowledgeable and friendly. The village of Wolsingham itself has friendly residents and useful shops, cafes etc. It's also well placed for getting around the wider area; Durham, Barnard Castle, Weardale. Thoroughly recommended.
"A lovely well appointed apartment in a great village."
A welcoming host, who left a very generous welcome pack. A variety of shops, eateries and ATM on your doorstep. An ideal base for exploring the beautiful Weardale, Teasdale and Northumberland.
"Enjoyed a lovely week in this clean, comfortable apartment, the welcome pack provided by Jackie was a nice surprise for us and really appreciated."

What a lovely little place. The apartment was very cosy and very comfortable. Everything was spotless and very well equipped. It had everything we could need for a self catering holiday. Jackie had also left us a very nice welcome pack which was much appreciated. There's loads to do in the area and the local people were very friendly. Thanks for a lovely week.

"A last minute booking where the property exceeded our expectations, the photos do not do justice to this lovely little flat."
"The apartment was so comfortable."
Very well positioned for visiting paces. The photos didn't do it justice. Tastefully decorated. Well equipped. The welcome pack was very generous. The owners were very hospitable. Would definitely go again.
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable and cosy apartment which is ideal for couples."
Thank you Jackie for your warm greeting on our arrival, your thoughtful welcome pack and all the attention that has been given to making the Old Queen’s Head such a lovely place to have a quiet, relaxing break. It has also been an excellent centre for exploring Weardale and the surrounding area, in particular Beamish Living Museum, Durham Cathedral, Hamsterley Forest, Barnard Castle and High Force, and the local circular walks in and around Wolsingham are wonderful and well documented in individual leaflets. Would love to return.
"Excellent property in the centre of town close to shops and eating places."
The property was of a high standard and perfect for single people or couples. Good location to see all of Weardale, Durham city and heritage coast. Very friendly local people who offered advice of where to visit and best routes to take. Would definitely return to this area
"The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable holiday, the owner was a great help when we arrived giving us some great information, also the location was great for touring, the the village is very nice and has everything you need plus if want a drink there are 3 nice pubs."
Also there are plenty of great circular walks from 1.5 miles to 7 miles, had fantastic week even though 1 day it rained most of the time.
"We had a lovely short break in this very cosy, well-equipped apartment."
"We arranged to collect key /meet owners at Old Queens Head they arrived very quickly as arranged."
They could not have been more help full, answering questions on local places to visit and eat at. Both my wife and myself thought the photos on web site did not reflect the high standards of this property. We enjoyed our time there visiting places like Beamish Museum and Casle Barnard. This property is an ideal base to view the surrounding area. Thank you Jacqueline and Derrick
"A beautiful apartment that was an absolute joy to stay in."
Durham and Barnard Castle were both a short drive away, around 25 mins. Wolsingham was a beautiful and quiet market town that gave doorstep access to some amazing walks and places to eat. The flat provided all that was needed for cooking meals at home in a perfect for 2 kitchen/living room space that offers views of the surrounding hill. Without a doubt me and my partner would visit here again after having such a wonderful holiday. The owner Mrs. Jacqueline Dent was wonderful and ensured that our trip was perfect with knowledge of the area and beautiful design touches int he flat. 10/10 would go back again to explore more of this beautiful area with a truly wonderful place to stay.
