  • "We had an amazing stay at The Piggery."

The photographs really do not do this place justice, it was absolutely spotless and had everything us/our dogs needed and more. The owner was extremely welcoming and even put a real Christmas tree up for us as we stayed throughout Christmas. The views from The Piggery are stunning and the walks were fantastic, loads of public footpaths leading right from the property and you can walk for miles all over the moors. The property is close enough to essential shops/local town if you need anything but far away enough that you feel like you’re completely rural in miles of beautiful countryside. We’ll definitely be booking again and cannot recommend this place enough for a relaxing break and especially with furry friends!

The property

Resting just outside the centre of East Morton, West Yorkshire, The Piggery is a characterful, single-storey barn conversion surrounded by countryside.

The holiday home is located on the owner's farm and welcomes two guests for a romantic retreat in a rustic setting.

Find off-road parking for an easy arrival to unload your bags and get settled into your home-away-from-home; follow a gravelled path and two stone steps up to the property, enjoying the elevated position overlooking rolling hills and distant mountains, before stepping inside.

Kick off your shoes and feel the warmth of underfloor heating in the open-plan living space, with charming features throughout, including sloped ceilings, wooden beams and farmhouse furnishings.

The sitting area awaits at the end of the day's adventures; start the woodburning stove tucked away in the corner, choose your favourite film on the Smart TV and sink into the sofas with a hot drink.

With two well-behaved dogs welcome, they'll love hunkering down onto the underfloor heating after following you through the Yorkshire Dales.

Set the rustic wooden table for a romantic evening meal, or hop on the breakfast bar in the kitchen area for a quick bite before heading out the door.

Enjoy contemporary touches in the kitchen area, with sleek countertops and excellent amenities to impress your loved one with your best home-cooked dinners.

After muddy walks, enter straight into the neighbouring utility via the handy back door to dump your boots, dry off the dogs and throw walking gear straight into the washing machine and tumble dryer, whilst the convenient cloakroom is just next door to quickly freshen up.

Retreat to the well-presented king-size bedroom to catch your rest, complete with ample storage space, wooden beams and oak floors with underfloor heating.

Step into the en-suite, show-stopping shower room with top-quality fittings, including a spacious, walk-in shower to energise your day whilst your towel toasts on the heated towel rail.

Why not kick-start your day with a coffee at the outdoor seating in this remote, peaceful spot?

Watch the sunrise over the picture-perfect countryside view for a quiet moment before venturing out.

Take a break from the kitchen and dine at Busfeild Arms, just a short journey away in the centre of East Morton, whilst a local village shop offers the self-catering essentials; pack your clubs and enjoy a round at the rural Fardew Golf Club, whilst the National Trust's East Riddlesden Hall is a fabulous day out to wander the halls of a restored manor house with period furnishings, formal gardens and a tearoom.

Jump in the car and journey south to Bingley, a picturesque market town with shops, eateries and lovely walks along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, as well as The Bingley Gallery and St Ives Estate, a 500-acre park with picnic areas and woodland walks around the lake.

Goit Stock Waterfall lies just outside the town, a hidden gem and romantic spot with a gentle, circular walk through the trees; not to be missed whilst you're in the area!

The larger, bustling market town of Keighley is within easy reach for historic and cultural delights, including Cliffe Castle bursting with stories and artifacts, the Ingrow Loco railway museum and Devonshire Park for sunshine strolls.

Pack your walking gear and head into the wonders of Yorkshire Dales National Park just north of The Piggery, stopping off at the popular town of Skipton for lunch in one of the many eateries; be sure to visit Skipton Castle, a near-intact medieval fortress with a dungeon, as well as the castle woods dotted with curious sculptures that blend into the trees.
