Powys Cottages
Please find below a selection of self catering holiday cottages
to rent across Powys, Wales.
Powys covers a huge chunk of rural mid Wales, a verdant area of
hills and valleys and, of course, the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Most of our Powys cottage holidaymakers come here for the
'great outdoors' and the abundance of activities on
offer.
Walk the Beacons Way, a 100-mile trail across the magnificent
National Park, its dramatic scenery of sandstone bluffs and gorges
created during the ice age. Explore the Black Mountains on
horse-back, interlaced with ancient bridleways. Spin through the
countryside atop mountain bikes, with numerous routes on offer.
Climb Dinas Rock, Morlais Quarry or Llangattock. Or do something
different and learn how to drive a rally car, take a course in
caving or paragliding, or visit a red kite feeding station.
Those keen on fishing will find trout and salmon in the Wye and
Usk, while Llangorse Lake is a picturesque spot to fish, sail, walk
and spot all kinds of flora and fauna. Another idyllic lake to
visit is Vyrnwy in the north of Powys, where you'll find wooded
trails, kayaking, an incredible Victorian dam and RSPB
workshops.
Don't miss the stimulating Centre for Alternative Technology
near Machynlleth. Nor Powis Castle, a fine medieval building with
beautiful terraced gardens. Kids will love a trip on the Welshpool
& Llanfair light railway, not to mention an exciting
underground tour at The National Showcaves Centre. Bookworms,
meanwhile, will head for Hay-on-Wye.
And if your Powys cottage holiday happens to fall in July, make
sure you visit the Royal Welsh Show, a major listing on the annual
events' calendar.
