  • "House needs a good make over and a good clean ,Two of the toilets had broken seats and one of the handles was hanging off also one was leaking slightly."

The kitchen floor had to be cleaned by us as it was dirty around the edges. The drawers in the kitchen were hard to open, Lots of dust on window ledges and an abundance of huge cobwebs everywhere. It is a nice property and in a lovely area but it needs new furniture and a good clean,We couldn’t have used the barbecue if we had wanted to as it was very rusty and dirty ,

Thank you for your feedback. Customer comments are very important to us and we appreciate you taking the time to do this Ddol Helyg Farmhouse is a very popular property and has been part of the Sykes portfolio for many years and receives back to back bookings. The feedback that you have given us is not typical of the property. The owner lives next door and is happy to help with any issues. If you had raised these during the trip, they would have attended the property straight away and sorted out any problems for you as we want Customers to enjoy their holiday The toilet seats and handles have been replaced. The BBQ has been removed but the owner left this at the proeprty so customers can use the disposal BBQs safely that she provides. The cottage is a traditional old cottage and has many of the original features. The owners spend 6 hours on changeover with their cleaning teams making sure that the cottage is ready for Customers. The weather was really hot (30° and no wind) which made the upstairs very warm at night. Great location with lots of attractions less than an hour away. Barbara the owner greeted us on arrival and couldn't have been more helpful.

  • "The cottage definitely needs a bit of TLC as the furniture was looking a bit tired."

Some of the taps were leaking and the showers were just a drip. Also, a gate would be useful so that dogs and young children can be out in the garden. The garden is lovely and big, it’s a shame the dogs and young children couldn’t enjoy it. The owner was lovely and made us feel very welcome. The welcome pack with cakes and flowers was a lovely touch. We didn’t go to the pottery (which surprised us all as we had been looking forward to it). But there was so much to do in the area, we didn’t have time.

  • "The owner of the property was a very nice lady."

We were, however, expecting the general condition of the house to be better. The bathrooms are very small and ill-equipped. The communication with the landlady is over a landline only. This is harder to convey any problems such as our master bathroom shower did not work ( did not manage to communicate this forward to her) especially as my network did not have full coverage in that area. We had to take the property one hour later and leave it by 9.00. This is not the luxury or comfort we expected. No large TV screen and bearly any connection to Wifi so working from there or streaming movies for kids was very difficult. For this amount of money spent I was expecting much more. Wales, however, was beautiful and we are looking forward to coming back.

Thank you for your feedback. This is not the typical feedback that we receive for this cottage. The check in and out times have been changed to allow our owners more time to clean the properties due to the pandemic. Our cleaning guidelines have been published on the website and we do notify Customers before they start their holiday The owner has checked the shower and advised that there are no problems with it. She would have been happy to help you with this during your stay as she does live onsite. We do provide a list of amenities and photos in the property description of what is available to Customers during their stay. Mobile phone networks can vary depending on the area that you visit Thank you for your comments. We do appreciate them and they have been passed onto the owner. Property Owner

Loads of space inside and out Great location for getting to all the attractions in the local area. Could do with another set of plates and cutlery etc as when you have used one you have to wait for the dishwasher to finish Or have 2 dishwasher's? TV in main room could do with being a bit bigger. One of the showers caused a leak but we told the owner who said she would sort it. We had a great time, brilliant cottage/ house in a great location.

the pottery was very good, moving forward for the summer maybe a bbq to use outside would be considered.. also some more larger lamps for the main room, as found it a little too bright with all the main lights on. apart from that it was very good. thank you Barbara for all your help.

The conservatory and garden were a joy in the May sunshine, and an evening painting in the pottery gave us more happy holiday memories. Barbara's local knowledge was considerable - there is a master baker and an award winning butcher tucked away in the village environs, and we ate wonderfully well!!

The weather was also kind to us, with the warmest Easter on Record! There is mould around some of the showers and the house did have a slightly run-down feel to it compared to other holiday houses that we have stayed in. Nevertheless it is excellent value for money with plenty of space to socialise in. The host was lovely and the pottery barn located next door was fun. We had a fabulous celebratory 60th birthday for my husband. It enabled family and friends to meet together and enjoy everything that North Wales had to offer. We were near enough for many of the attractions such as walking up Snowden (or going by train) as well as the longest, fastest zip wire in the world. A local hotel facilitated our desire (as non-residents) to use their pool. We enjoyed many walks in the area as well as visiting Caernarfon Castle; Conwy Castle and Bodnant Gardens which were stunning. Barbara was very accommodating and nothing would have been too much trouble - she responded quickly to our requirements. We especially loved the garden which had a stunning view. The house was comfortable for our needs with plenty of hot water available for everyone.

About the location

LLANRUG

Llanberis 2 miles; Caernarfon 4 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
