  • "A very nice apartment in a great location."

Well equipped and comfortable. Great views front and back that would be improved by the Velux windows being cleaned and the misted sitting room windows being replaced.

Thank you for your feedback, we have made the owner aware about the windows, we hope you enjoyed your stay overall and hope to welcome you back soon. The owner relations team Property Owner

  • "Well appointed - well positioned apartment in the beautiful town of Ambleside."

Roomy open plan (pics do not do it justice) and very comfy sofas and reading chairs. Small balcony with a ghyll view (just) - but little used as very cold - but i imagine gorgeous in the warmer months. Very well stocked kitchen with all the things we needed and much more besides. Be aware this on the way out of town and thus up a hill and then some step steps into the apartment - so not suitable for the less mobile. Brilliant apartment as always from Lakelovers - we look forward to the next trip.

  • "The property was very clean, comfortable and even nicer than it looked on the photographs."

The location is fantastic with many walks accessible from the property. I can only think of two negatives. 1 - the steps up to the front door are very slippery when wet. 2- the floorboards upstairs are very loud meaning there is no chance of quietly nipping to the toilet through the night, but I'm nit picking here. We have already booked to come back next summer!

The apartment is beautifully decorated and well thought out. We stayed as a family of four- 2 adults and 2 children and there was everything we could have needed and more. Definitely one of the best places we have stayed in Ambleside, a perfect base for walks, popping into Ambleside or visiting farther afield in the Lakes. Thank you for a lovely week, we will miss listening to the waterfall every morning over breakfast and would love to come back in the future.

Thanks, Kayleigh, for letting us know how much you enjoyed Acorns. We hope you manage to return again soon Property Owner

  • "Wow - what an amazing place."

We booked 'Acorns' at short notice as fancied a break in the mountains in January. Absolutely loved it - so warm, comfortable, and the Owners had thought of everything. The weather was 'rubbish' all week, but being able to go back to such a luxurious place after a day out walking more than made up for it. Only one comment - as it rained so much the front door was 'swollen' and stiff to open at times, but just required a 'good shove' to get in :-) Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us.

Very comfortable property, everything you could need.Good furnishings and finished to a high standard. One suggestion,I can only get the bath water as hot as the shower, due to the scalding setting on shower.Tap water from the sink much hotter.By the time the bath fills the water has cooled down;perhaps I’m doing something wrong.Showers great, would definitely stay again. We had a problem in the back bedroom with wasps and couldn't open the window all week. We contacted you but didn't receive a reply back. We had a few wasps in the room each day. It was also mentioned by previous guests.

  • "The accommodation is very good and the recent improvements bring it up to date."

It is well equipped, comfortable and close to amenities. The two problems we experienced were attended to quickly. The upstairs bathroom sink was blocked and a wasp nest on balcony was a nuisance as we couldn’t use it. The nest was still active when we left however. The freezer does need defrosting but is usable. The biggest issue however is that the bedroom floorboards squeak excessively and if both bedrooms are in use a decent nights sleep is out of the question! If this is sorted Acorns would be excellent.

  • "The apartment is lovely however there are small things that let it down, bulbs broken with no replacements (wall light, cooker hood bulb) Door handles broken (living room door handle broken and slammed shut if not wedged and downstairs bathroom won’t lock properly)."

Security was an issue too - letter box flap on back kept falling off making it really easy to put your hand through to twist the lock and open the front door. There was also a build up of dust etc behind all of the beds.

Thank you for taking the time to provide additional feedback following your stay at Acorns. Acorns has since changed ownership and the new owners will be carrying out a refurbishment, among the things to be changed are all the door handles and the letter box. Cleaning will be improved and the cooker hood bulb has been changed. We do hope that despite these issues you will return to Acorn in the near future. Property Owner

Great for relaxing and cooking meals. Very handy for Ambleside even the hill. My wife’s first bath did result in a mass of dirt traced to the bath plug but other than that no issues. Personally I missed my coffee maker (nespresso) but next time will take it. Great place and great break.

We would like to thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed the property and the location. We have passed the comments on regarding the coffee machine to the owner for their consideration. With regards to the plug, they will ensure that this is checked every time as it may have been out of use for a while. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back to Acorns again soon! • "The Acorns was really good, well appointed and we really couldn't find fault with the flat."

our problem was that it was situated up the Kirkstone pass which meant it was unsuitable as we are of the age when knees start creaking & the balance is not as it should be we had to resort to using the car to get down the hill and then park up, at a cost, when we wanted to go anywhere. I would certainly recommend the Acorns but perhaps you could make people aware of this minor problem.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
