  • Mr Firth

“Great location and nice property in general.”

BUT......Asked 2 members of staff prior to booking about the size of the bed as it looked small on the photographs. Told twice that it was a King size double. It is in fact a double bed so smaller than stated. Underfloor heating isn't effective in main lounge area and it is really cold. Rest of property is warm. Property had not had a good clean. Fingerprints all over equipment in kitchen. Food wrappers in the drawers. Numerous cigarette ends on the patio - can provide photos if required? We had a 10% discount on our account that was offered in May 2019 due to a problem we experienced, but this could not be applied to this booking as you could not find any record of the offered discount. All in all, not a great experience Ed 07747 807525

The property

This sensational property forms part of a traditional 17th century cottage sitting on the slopes of Loughrigg Fell and enjoys magnificent views from Fairfield Horseshoe, across Ambleside to Wansfell.

Any couple looking for romantic yet contemporary luxury in the Lake District will be blown away when first seeing the aptly named Infinity at Brow Head, and equally delighted with what lies inside.

A steep driveway leads to the cottage which is accessed through the garden and down a few external steps.

Inside a cosy entrance hall leads into the breath-taking open plan living space.

Walls of glass and bi-folding doors highlight the beauty of the setting and can be opened to bring the glorious outdoors in.

The open plan living space is generously proportioned and furnished with modern, fabulously comfortable sofa and chairs.

The heated oak floor, stylish rug and wall mounted TV make this a cosy space in which to relax after supper prepared in the small but well-equipped kitchen.

A couple of steps take guests up to the romantic bedroom, dressing room and exhilarating monsoon shower room.

The bedroom’s external door opens out onto the terrace and reveals more of those views.

What a place to enjoy a lazy morning! Ambleside is within walking distance of Brow Head and is a popular destination in itself.

Along with a choice of supermarkets for stocking up on local produce, its pretty streets and lanes are full of interesting boutiques and award winning eateries.

Two excellent independent cinemas provide alternative entertainment to the seemingly inexhaustible choice of countryside walks and climbs.

Historic Grasmere is also close by, perfect for guests interested in the arts and culture of the area.

About the location

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
