  • "Excellent clean tidy property."

Exceeded expectations. Beautiful views of the lake. Love the gift basket it was very welcome The only suggestion we would like to make is that you offer a shower mat as we occasionally slipped on the wet shower floor when using it.

  • "Lovely little cottage with modern facilities and great for a couple."

Quiet and pretty setting with balcony views overlooking a small bay on Windermere, ideal for breakfast or an evening glass of wine. Easy access into Bowness, via the ferry, for a range of facilities.

  • "Wonderful place to stay for a couple and young baby, it had everything we needed and was in a lovely location."

Generally the listing was very accurate, the only thing we hadn't realised was that there were stairs and the bedroom was upstairs. This wasn't a problem for us but we just weren't aware in advance. As far as I can tell from the information and images it wasn't clear that there are stairs. The property was suitable for a young baby but wouldn't be safe for a toddler unless a stair gate was provided. Another slight issue was that we brought our baby bath to use within the shower cubicle (as we knew there wasn't a bath) but the shower was slightly difficult to access due to the way the door opened. Again not a major issue for us as we managed but a more universally accessible shower could be better. Otherwise the accommodation was really lovely and ideal for what we wanted. Loved the local treats and milk provided too.

The cottage is well presented with everything you could want. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Thank you for the welcome pack which went down a treat. I loved sitting on the balcony watching the local wildlife. The cottage is in a great position next to the ferry. Good parking right outside the door. Overall I would give this cottage a 5 star rating.

Fantastic location and a great welcome pack. Unfortunately it rained all weekend but would have loved to sit out on the decking overlooking the lake. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable and would highly reccomend it to other visitors to the Lake District

  • "We love the apartment - the location is king."

Right by the ferry and the lakeside. I do Sup so it’s a perfect place to launch. It’s clean and well heated though some might say too hot! Only quibble is that the hot water went off both friday mornings and it was a pain as we had a posh lunch booked so had to have a basin wash both days. It’s really not acceptable to have this 2 weeks running.

  • "The property was in an idyllic position, very peaceful despite the proximity of the ferry."

The local produce welcome hamper was a delightful touch. Our only criticism would be that there could have been more crockery and cutlery provided as we often had to remove things from the dishwasher and wash them by hand in order to cook/eat our next meal. However, we would certainly wish to return to this property in the future.

  • "Lovely accommodation."

Absolutely perfect for a couple. The only minor criticism I could mention is that it felt quite hot on a night in the bedroom. The windows did open very wide so not sure why this was. Definitely not unbearable but worth mentioning. Other than this small issue it was superb.

You can get to places very easily as we found it quite central. Sykes has thought of all the necessities you would need. I would love to go again. The duvet is quite thick, luckily I took my own.

  • "We enjoyed our week at Pennington."

The cottage is comfortable and ideal for 2 people. It's on 2 stories and the stairs go straight up into the bedroom (no door), which worried me a bit, imagining getting up in the dark and falling downstairs. It didn't cause any problem though and there are bedside lamps, just that I'm a worrier! We had a nice welcome pack including milk, jam & chutney. The fridge only has a small icebox so don't take frozen food with you! The location was great, literally yards from the ferry over to Bowness which runs every 20 minutes and takes less than 10 minutes to cross, though I expect this could get very busy during peak holiday season. It's £1 for foot passengers & £5 per car, each way. There was a little hut near the ferry where you could get ice cream, coffee etc. The Boathouse, Bowness is good for an informal meal, which is a 10 minute walk when you get off the ferry. Hawkshead is lovely. We visited the grammar school where William Wordsworth went, which was very interesting. You have to phone ahead and book. If you want to visit Hilltop where Beatrix Potter lived, you must book before you go or you won't get in. We didn't plan ahead unfortunately. We loved having a balcony and managed to sit out a couple of times, despite not having the best week for weather. There was a problem with the heating but we were able to operate it manually & it may be fixed now. One morning there was no hot water but it was ok later in the day. We would definitely go back, in fact if it had been available for the following week we would have extended our stay.

  • "We had a brilliant week at this property and would highly recommend to anyone."

The ferry to Bowness being only one minutes walk away was an absolute bonus. The ferries run every 20 minutes, with it costing £1 per person and the journey is less than 10 minutes. The only suggestions we would make would be to have a lighter quilt on the bed and that the balcony be power washed.. The above did not have any adverse effect on our wonderful stay at this cottage.

Mixed messages on your email. i.e strip bed / do not strip bed. Arrival notification using NHS app useless if you don’t have mobile with at least iOS 13 as you can’t download the app.

  • "Just right for the two of us."

The cottage was well equipped, clean, bright and comfortable, with a lovely view of the lake. We really enjoyed being able to relax outside on the balcony, only a few metres away from the water, at the end of the day. Initially, we were a little concerned about access to and from the property, as the queue for the ferry passes the front door and the parking bays, but this didn’t prove to be a problem. Out only recommendation to the owners is for a couple of additional sets of crockery and cutlery which would allow for more economical use of the dishwasher. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend.

Lots of peace & quiet with an amazing lakeside view & 20 min walk to nearest pub in Far Sawrey, or across the ferry to Bowness. Walking options in abundance! We had a small problem with the bedroom blind jamming, called the customer service number, went our for a walk & it was fixed by the time we returned! All round excellent.

  • "What an absolute gem."

These have been beautifully designed and although are small have everything two people need. We stayed in November but the house was always warm when we came home due to the great heating. The ferry is extremely handy and again being later in the year was not too busy - however I imagine that in the summer months this may be a little noisier. The little welcome basket was the loveliest touch and we really enjoyed sampling some local goodies and I loved all the information about who our cottage was named after. Finally the view. You really couldn't ask for more and it took my breath away every morning. I would whole heartedly recommend this property and I've never felt so at home in a holiday rental. In fact I want to come back already.
