Clayfield Farm

Clayfield Farm sits in a semi-rural position with scenic views over the open countryside and Yorkshire Wolds, just a mile from the market town of Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire. This idyllic collection of buildings has been restored to a wonderful standard by the owners, consisting of the main farmhouse, a barn conversion and four shepherd huts, each with their own external showers. Accessed along a private road, there is a spacious gravelled area where guests can park up before finding their new abodes. Within the farm there are outside seating areas with barbecues and a pizza oven, whilst the farm is home to sheep, ducks, turkeys and hens, which are all very friendly and don’t mind being fed! Just a mile away lies Pocklingotn Town Centre, boasting a choice of pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants, along with a main square offering local shops, a post office and a supermarket, so you won’t have to go far to find the essentials. There is a network of walking and cycling routes nearby; explore the Yorkshire Wolds Way accessed in Pocklington, Millington Woods walk, the Pocklington Canal Towpath and several other dog walks in and around Pocklington. The coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington are a scenic car journey away and offer quintessential seaside charm and sandy beaches, whilst the city of York is easily accessible along the A1079 and there is a good bus route from Pocklington. The pretty little market town of Pocklington nestles at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds in the Vale of York. It is perhaps best known for Burnby Hall Gardens - 8 acres of gloriously beautiful gardens with two large lakes which are home to the National Collection of water lilies. There are several world famous attractions nearby - majestic Castle Howard, beautiful Sledmere House, and of course the historic city of York. The town boasts a leisure centre offering a wide range of sports, including swimming, a Civic Centre and the Pocklington Arts Centre, which shows various films and stages live shows throughout the year. Pocklington is also home to Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre, known worldwide for its meditation courses and retreats, plus the KP Golf Club is situated approx. 1 mile away and offers wedding and other event facilities, a stylish bar and a restaurant, as well as an 18 hole championship golf course. Just a few miles away is the village of Warter, which is where David Hockney produced his 'Bigger Trees Near Warter' painting. Nearby are various cycle ways including the North Sea Cycle Route and walkers will love either the long distance walks along the Wolds Way or one of the many more circular walks in the area for all abilities.
