"This was our second stay at this lovely property."
A really spacious well presented and well equipped property with comfortable furniture and fittings. The fantastic large dining kitchen worked really well for us with lots of space for family meals and game nights. The stairs from the front door are wide and easy to navigate. The lack of a sea view is more than compensated for by the quality of the property. Although there is no specific parking there's ample parking over the road at Station car park. We have already booked our next visit.

"A really warm and comfortable stay, all the rooms were well equipped and provided enough room for 6 of us to hang out."
It was also a perfect base to explore the bay, Whitby and beyond. The dishwasher and washing machine were well used and appreciated and preparing meals was easy making dining together a real treat. I recommend for any age or length of stay

"Had a wonderful time at Sterling's house."
we would definitely go back ,beds very comfortable plenty of space for use all with being a group of 8.Great location to travel around or just stay and walk down in to Robin Hood's Bay with the shops, restaurants and go on the beach , parking was better than I thought which we was able to park on the street but there was a car park very close too if not which I was told you can buy a day ticket and you can use it up and down the coast if you like travelling which we do,

"Superb residence!"
High standard of provision of everything needed for washing cooking cleaning and real comfort! Only minor issue was variable tv aerial reception. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great and the kitchen and dining area spacious and a place you could just be in . In all honesty the living room was underused . So close to the beautiful village and the walking is spectacular.

"Lovely place to stay in great location"
-
"Lovely property, really comfortable and very clean when we arrived."
Very spacious and we loved the big dining table, great for family meals and games nights.
-
"It’s a brilliant house and ticks all the boxes."
The very small entrance hall is very tight - especially when there are thre or four people trying to get their boots off! That’s a very minor point thought. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to navigate round and the heating works a treat when there is a chill in the air. This was our second stay there and we will definitely consider it again for next year.

"Lovely house."
Very clean and well equipped. Listing very accurate. Owner called prior to our stay with lots of useful info. Would recommend and would stay again.

"Lovely place to stay in a great location and friendly owner"

"We had such a lovely stay at Sterling House!"
The house is full of tasteful character and has everything you could need for a stay away from home. We were two families with young children and there was plenty of space. The owner accepted our very last minute booking and even gave us early checkin/late departure because we were only there two nights (all much appreciated!). The location is great - we went down to town and back several times and the kids really enjoyed digging and searching for fossils on the beach, plus fish and chips and ice cream in the village. The hill is a nice workout ;) Thanks for a great holiday!

"A great place to stay."
We usually stay in Bay Town but this is more accessible. Well kept and presented. Everything we needed for a good stay was there. At half term and school holidays RHB is very busy and parking can be a bit of a nightmare - but that doesn’t detract from RHB as being a perfect family holiday. Sterling House ticks all the boxes
-
"A nice roomy house set in an ideal location in the village."
Close to the beach and also cafes, pubs etc. Kitchen equipment plentiful which made it easy to feed 4 adults and 3 children.
-
"Very comfortable."
Well equipped. Good communication from owner. Everything you might want or expect in the location.
-
"Lovely flat in a great location at the top of the village."
Round the corner from a pub and shop and a stroll downhill to the village itself. The flat was very clean and had great space for our family. Would heartily recommend. RHB itself is a gem of a place, filled with mystery and history. It really captured our imaginations - will definitely return to both the village and Sterling House.
-
"A brilliant week spent at Sterling House!"
Great location & all amenities provided for a perfect family holiday. Good communication with owner too 're access & leaving property. Would definitely go back.
-
"Worked perfectly for us."
Generous living space and the first floor bedroom with bathroom on this level was perfect for my elderly parents. Everything needed was in place at Sterling House. Lovely little garden protected from the wind supplied a small sun trap. On street parking was not an issue but maybe in school holidays? Hopefully will be back soon.

"A brilliant property, we stayed as two young families and there was plenty of space."
House really well equipped, great kitchen area. This is a second and third floor property so the only frustration was cooking/drinking outside was a bit of a mission with plenty of trips up and down the stairs but the garden area itself is lovely with a lot more space than expected. We travelled with four children all under 10 and they are already asking when we can go back to their holiday house. Thanks for the perfect stay, just need the sunshine next time!

"We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay."
Would highly recommend

"A wonderful house in a good location."
We were impressed by how well equipped, spacious, quiet and clean it was. And also that the owner rang us to check we had all the relevant information, as we booked just a couple of days before our stay. It was great being so close to the sea, good walks as well as being just a few minutes from a pub and shop, which had all that we needed for our 5 day stay. I’d like to add that we were keen to book with Sykes Cottages as they volunteered and arranged a full refund for a place we booked which had to be cancelled due to lockdown.

"We had a fabulous stay in Sterling House and its in a really good location."
Everything that we needed (and lots more besides) was provided and we'd happily stay again and recommend to others. We loved Robin Hood's Bay!

"Sterling House is an excellent base for exploring the N."
Yorks coast. House is very well equipped (but bring own hairdryer). A bit of a squeeze for 8 adults sleeping, due to low sloping ceilings on top floor (particularly tight for far side of top floor double bed), but lower floor rooms good. We had no noise issues with ground floor or adjoining flats. Parking above average for RHB - often close to the property, or could always park just round the corner (about 200 yds), then nearer to property early evening or breakfast time. Very good communications with the owner. Overall, very well recomended.

"We had a great holiday and Sterling House was a perfect base."
The information from the owner for check in made things very easy. There are a lot of stairs in the house, but that didn’t bother our holiday at all. Would definitely be back!
-
"Wonderful house, perfect for our 2 young families."
Great location in RHB. The house was very clean, comfy beds and lovely bedding / towels. Garden really useful with 3 young children. House is actually more spacious than photos suggest. Would 100% recommend.
-
"A lovely place to stay in an ideal spot."
House is bright and airy, beds are comfy, and kitchen well equipped. Lovely garden too. Highly recommend!
-
"We had a lovely holiday in a beautiful and well equipped house."
The views out of the upstairs back bedroom are amazing and the location of the property worked well for us. The fishmonger in the village prepared some excellent treats too.

"We had a great stay at Sterling House."
It's just the right size for 2 families of four, comfortable and well equipped. Communications with the owner good. Robin Hoods Bay itself is a great place for a holiday - it's a beautiful little village to explore, the beach is a 10 minute walk, there are plenty of places to eat and drink, and it never felt too crowded even in August. Recommend pizza at the Cove, beers at the Smugglers, the lovely view from the Victoria beer garden and oysters and prosecco at the Bramblewick. We managed to get free on street parking outside the house fairly often in the late afternoon. Only small gripe is that the tv stations available were very limited and certainly not sky as advertised, although we weren't too bothered by this.

"The house is lovely, well equipped and well located."
We have stayed before. Just one niggle this time, the owner texted on our way up to say one of the showers wasn’t working and he was waiting for a plumber and would advise us when it was to be fixed. We heard nothing, and it was an inconvenience for a party of seven. I just wonder how long it has been out of action? A shame that a small but impactful detail was not attended to.
-
"Robin Hoods Bay is a fun place to be and the house is in an exception situation to make the most of the town and the surrounding area."
-
"Great venue for our group of 8 - house was spacious, very well equipped with everything you would need."
Location perfect. Owner very responsive and very helpful.
-
"The cottage is lovely."
Incredibly well equipped and well presented. It is furnished to a high standard. We would definately recommend.
-
"Excellent accommodation very helpful owner."
-
"A fine house in a good location."
Great base for touring and walking.

"Great house in a great place"
-
"Lovely house."
Liked the 'welcome pack'. Kitchen/diner was good with the young children, better than a separate dining room. Good facilities and lots of crockery etc. Robin Hoods Bay nice to explore with big beach and rock pools when tide is out. Lots to do in the area.
-
"Enjoyed staying at Sterling House with family for a weeks holiday exploring the area."
Clean, well equipped and lots of space - very helpful for our group which included 5 adults and a four year old and 11 month old! Lots of stairs and sloped ceilings in the upper floors. Nice spot in Robin Hoods Bay. A lovely little garden too which we enjoyed having lunch in. A mattress would have been useful for the travel cot! Many thanks

"The house had everything we needed for our stay and was in a great location."
The only thing we had a problem with was trying to find somewhere to park near the property.
-
"Sterling House is a stunning holiday apartment."
Overall the property is very light and airy and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was particularly well equipped which made for a very comfortable stay. We loved having a nice garden for BBQ's and eating our breakfast outside. Also, having the shops, beach and park all a short walk away really made the holiday for us.The older kids got to visit the village shops and park and explore by themselves which they loved. We dined in the Grosvenor Hotel which was very tasty and the portions were huge. We loved the Ghost Walk and would highly recommend this to any future guests. Our only disappointment was our day trips to Whitby where we encountered problems finding public toilets for our kids and Scarborough which seemed a little run down, with the shows and shops closed early. It's doesn't seem like the Scottish school holidays are catered for in these resorts. However, Robin Hoods Bay more than satisfied as a holiday destination and we would love to visit again.

Set over the top two floors of a semi-detached Victorian villa, this property is in an enviable position at the top of Robin Hood's Bay.
Stairs lead up from a ground floor entrance hall to the light, airy living areas, which are superbly, sympathetically renovated, retaining traditional period features such as beautiful marble and cast iron fireplaces, high ceilings and stained glass windows.
Outside, the property boasts a well-established, rear south-facing garden, ideal for relaxing after a day at the beach.
A five minute stroll takes you down the steep, winding, cobbled streets to the coast, passing quaint cottages and a selection of eating houses and gift shops.
Stunning views over the magnificent cliffs can be enjoyed, with rock pooling and paddling on the beach, as well as superb walking, with the Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast long distance walks crossing here.
With the breathtaking North York Moors on the doorstep, this wonderful renovation is a fantastic alternative to traditional Yorkshire cottages, in an ideal family location.

About the location
ROBIN HOOD’S BAY
Whitby 6 miles; Scarborough 17 miles.
Robin Hood's Bay, with its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, is one of the most picturesque villages on the English coastline. Situated between Scarborough and Whitby, this charming old fishing village is to be found nestling at the edge of a wide sweeping bay backed by spectacular cliffs and dramatic moorland scenery, and was once home to author Leo Walmsley. All holidaymakers will love the beach and its cliff-top walks, whilst more serious walkers will enjoy the many long distance trails that pass through the Cleveland Way, the Lyke Wake Walk and the Coast to Coast walks which all take in Robin Hood’s Bay. The village amenities are superb, with charming alleyways to explore and plenty of places to rest, relax and take refreshment. A perfect base for enjoying the Yorkshire Coast.
