  • "Our first visit to Northumberland and won't be our last."

The cottage was ideally situated a short stroll to the harbour, shops, pubs, takeaways etc. just perfect.

  • "Lovely cottage, well equipped."

Very comfortable except mattress in smaller bedroom not very comfortable - could feel springs through it. Back yard could do with a spruce up, ltd of clumps of moss from tops of walls and roofs around it, no doubt due to the high winds lately. Very well positioned for access to town, quayside, marina and main roads. Will be keen to book again.

    Fantastic location too!

  • "A lovely central townhouse, with good facilities and great owners (who were excellent)."

The beds were comfy and the bathroom was snug. The surrounding area is stunning and friendly, especially Bart in the Quayside Lobster Hatchery. Plus, there is a great pub quiz at the Wellwood Pub on Tuesday nights. We would also recommend The Red Lion, Alnmouth.

  • "The listing said fuel provided for the wood burner, there was no kindling or newspaper and not enough logs, the cottage was very cold on arrival and took a while to warm up, it was January though."

The toilet was a squeeze to use and no hooks to hang clothes whilst taking a shower. The cottage was in an ideal spot for wandering into the village and harbour, lots of eating places and a good base for exploring.

  • "The cottage was generally clean."

There was a smell of damp in the kitchen and bathroom , we just brought a candle to help cover it up. The bed was very comfortable, we were cold on the first night but we just took the duvet from the other bed . Quite area , grass areas at the end of street for the dog , not far to the shops and the harbour.

Amble itself is a great place and we can't wait to come back and explore some more. Previous feedback is correct in that bathroom is a bit cosy, but overall property was clean and well furnished. Thanks.

  • "We had a great stay in Amble, a place we would love to return to."

The house is in a mostly quiet residential location with great access to green space for walking a dog and access to local supermarket. It is a short walk to local bakery and the harbour with its market and lovely restaurants over looking the sea and sand dunes. We would have liked a long handled brush to keep the floor clean during our stay, please consider adding one to the utility area. For once the mattress on the main bed was of decent quality and comfortable compared to others we have stayed in however the bed frame creaks at the slightest turn in bed which got a bit annoying towards the end of the stay. We would consider staying again as the house was otherwise very comfortable and well equipped.

  • "The house was very well decorated and comfortably furnished with nice little touches."

We enjoyed being able to sit in the front garden with a drink on returning from a day out. The house had ample cutlery, crockery, pans etc. The little courtyard out the back door was a useful space but not very attractive - it would obviously not be practical to put lots of plants in it but we wondered if a nice mural painted on the walls might be an improvement! We had a great holiday and liked Amble very much as a base.

  • "Northumbria terrace is a lovely little house in a perfect location - close to the beach and close to the local amenities."

The house is well equipped and very clean. My only suggestions would be that a hoover or sweeping brush would be helpful and the doors don't close very well at all. Minor details however.

  • "The location was perfect for us as it was just outside the hustle and bustle of the centre."

There was also several green spaces on the doorstep for walking my dog in the evenings. The house was perfect for our needs, very clean on arrival and extremely comfortable. The only thing I would have liked was a small hoover for the room and kitchen area. I would definitely book here again.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
