The hosts really do know how to provide a peaceful high quality and stress free offer. Their professionalism shines through and they are a credit to the Sykes portfolio. It was my second stay and our family's fourth. We will continue to enjoy it for many years hopefully. Thank you Peter and Amanda . Best wishes James

  • "The cottage is well situated and the beds are comfortable."

There is a good deal to like here, but the sitting room would benefit from more comfortable furniture and I never did get the gas fire to light! For those with mobility problems, the steps up to the cottage (no rails) could be a real problem and the bath is only really suitable for small children. The main bedroom needs black out curtains and the 'always on' fan in the bathroom could disturb you if you are a light sleeper. At the back of the cottage, the area is not private, which is not obvious from the photographs on the website. The kitchen is well equipped and there are two Pubs at either end of the road, if you don't fancy cooking. The cottage was very clean and the owners were helpful.

  • "This is a lovely property in a pretty and friendly village."

It is very convenient with a bus stop just outside. We would not hesitate to recommend it at any time of year. It is a great base from which to explore the surrounding area but comfortable and convenient if you don’t want to go far. There are two great pubs serving food within walking distance. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Taylor’s Cottage."

It is very well equipped and the local area is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. It was the best Sykes cottage we have ever stayed in. The owner responded very quickly to a problem - there was no rubber mat to use when showering in the bath, but she delivered one within hours of our request, thank you! Our main concern was the rear patio is not enclosed as described and therefore we could not leave our dog out there unattended (she loves to sit in the garden). The patio opens onto neighbouring gardens and our Labrador took a fancy to the neighbour’s tomatoes! Also, as someone else has previously mentioned, the pillows are much too big. Luckily, we brought our own having read previous feedback. Despite the garden issue, we would probably stay at the cottage again because it was so clean and well equipped with nice quality furnishings etc.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s great to hear you enjoyed your stay and we were able to support with your request promptly for the bath non-slip mat. To help future guests we will update our visitors book with details on how you can to enclose the back private courtyard area if needed. Unfortunately, we do need to leave a small gap to access the bins. Our neighbours are very happy to have dogs roam the full area. All our pillows are of an extremely high quality, based on previous guest feedback we have changed the pillows to ensure there is a soft and medium/fim option for each person. I’m sure you understand it’s difficult to cater for every preference but we do pride ourselves on taking onboard all comments which can help improve the experience of Taylor’s cottage. We hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

  • "Recently stayed lovely cottage great location."

only thing which I would to say is the shower was very sleepy when I went for a shower as there was still some cleaning products left in shower tray which ended up me slipping in the shower. I would recommend a shower mat to help prevent this happening again. Other than that I would recommend this cottage again and booking again in the future.

Absolutely every home comfort had been thought of and even a dog bed and bowls provided. The cottage was absolutely spotless and furnished to a very high standard and we will definitely be booking again. We can recommend The Canon Inn, virtually just up the street, and The Bee Hive, just half a mile away, for delicious pub food. Parking was never a problem and the village itself is so pretty. A very moving memorial to the pit disaster is situated in the village churchyard.

  • "After travelling from Inverness to my native NE several times a year for the last 19 years to visit family and friends, we have stayed at dozens of holiday lets, but this is our favourite and the best by far."

Communication with the owner prior and throughout was excellent. So friendly and polite. Earsdon is a lovely little country village and perfectly based for visiting the coast. Having the best of both worlds was especially wonderful as we could take our little dog, who was spoiled for walks. We booked the cottage for 2 weeks over Christmas and it was lush walking in to see it decked out with a gorgeous tree, a garland running up the stair, a wreath and cute little decorations. All very tasteful and in keeping with the stunning decor. It smelled/smelt (never know which it is!) gorgeous too. It was immaculate, and so warm and cosy. This meant so much to me as we’ve walked into some places rated 4&5 star and they’ve been filthy and run down! They left a very impressive festive hamper on the table for us which was so thoughtful and kind. Got tucked into the cheesy crackers straight away. Such a warm welcome. The kitchen is so well kitted out. It even has a crock pot, which we used once to do a curry. We ate out mostly though as there are such nice places to eat nearby (the beehive along the road and 1910 at the Spanish city). I can’t even tell you how great it was to have a tumble dryer! God send. All high end appliances. Lovely comfy beds. So quiet at night! I can’t recommend this gorgeous little cottage enough. Will defo be booking again, delightful. Thank you so much to the wonderful hosts, it would be nice to meet you guys one day! X

The Red Lion & The Cannon pubs are in the village of Earsdon & offer a lovely selection of food & drinks & we enjoyed a take-away from The Cannon on our last night. Shiremoor & Monkseaton Metro Stations are only 15-20 min walk & ideal for traveling along the beautiful coastline & up to Newcastle. We walked with our 2 dogs to Tynemouth & back via Whitley Bay & Cullercoats & stopped off for coffee & cake along the way. The care and thought that’s gone into the cottage is very evident, and much appreciated. The location is great, too, with easy access to beaches and supermarkets, as well as Newcastle itself. The kitchen is a joy. The beds very comfortable. Whilst the second room does sleep two, it might be a bit of a squash for two adults but would be perfect for two children sharing a large bed. The main bedroom is lovely. There were three of us and it was perfect. There were so many things to do in the area, including a trip to the Farne Islands to see the Puffins and the coastline from Tynemouth to Seaton Sluice is stunning. This is the perfect location.
