  • "Overall we enjoyed our week in this very comfortable, spacious and well-equipped cottage, which is very well located for access to the local high street as well as exploring further afield."

The master bedroom is stunning, and clearly a lot of time and money have been spent on the upstairs accommodation. The cottage was let down a little bit by the kitchen, which could do with updating and having a deep clean, and there was a very strong smell of damp downstairs. This is also the first time we've ever stayed in a Sykes property where there hasn't been any welcome pack at all, not even a half-pint of milk which would have been very welcome for making a cup of tea after a long journey. Overall we did enjoy our stay though, and had a good week.

Thank you for the positive feedback on the upstairs of Magpie Cottage, much appreciated. We get so much feedback on how comfy our beds are which is much needed after a day of adventures. From our contact text whilst in the cottage you advised us of damp smell in understairs cupboard. We have since checked this out as first time we have been advised of this. There is nothing we could immediately see but we will keep an eye on it. Perhaps airing the cupboard reguarly may help so we will take your feedback on board. When we bought the in 2018 it was stripped down to stonework to eliminate any cause of damp. We did initially try welcome packs but we didn't get any feedback and we found most guests brought their own supplies. However just in case we put tea, coffee, sweetners, dried milk and some condiments in the kitchen as appreciate some guests arrive late without their own shopping. The kitchen is a traditional oak kitchen which adds to the traditional look of the cottage. A modern kitchen would look out of place for the style of the cottage but please be assured that the kitchen is regularly deep cleaned. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you book with us again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage , spotless and well equipped."

Parking not a issue always found space literally around the corner . Slow cooker very useful after day out . We were part of a larger family group and had booked York Cottage next door as well - work well for us and much more affordable than one larger house . Just be mindful of steps into kitchen if you have young children . Would recommend and hope to return .

Thank you for your lovely comments, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the feedback Property Owner

  • "Cottage wasn’t as clean as it should have been, no soap and very little washing up liquid."

I had to clean hoover out to get it to work, no chance it had been used. I had to purchase some logs and kindling as there was none left for us, but the owner did send us back the money kindly. A good cottage in a friendly town let down by a few things. Would we go again, yes, as it’s perfect for getting away from life’s pressure.

The last time we stayed in a holiday rental a pack was provided, though it wasn't advertised. However that wasn't the case at this property, so a little disappointing in that respect.

It was spotlessly clean full of charm with all the mod-cons. Everything you could want for was at your doorstep. Wooler itself was a great little town with essential shops, eateries and pubs. Wooler Common is such a beauty spot ideal for walkers cyclists and dog walkers. An ideal base to explore Nortumberland and the border towns from, not to mention Edinburgh which isn't far away. I would highly recommend Magpie cottage to everyone, many thanks Marie and Jeff
