Wooler Cottages
Please find below a selection of self catering holiday cottages
in Wooler, Northumberland.
Gateway to Glendale and the Northumberland National Park, the
charming market town of Wooler nestles in the foothills of the
Cheviots close to the Scottish Border. It is one of the
region's main centres, with traditional inns, restaurants and
cafés, all kinds of shops and a working pottery studio.
On the doorstep of your Wooler cottage is magnificent
countryside dotted with ancient hill forts and evidence of Bronze
and Iron Age settlements. Sleepy country lanes, trails and
bridleways, not to mention the long distance Pennine Cycleway and
St. Cuthbert's Way walk crisscross the area, making this a
playground for the outdoors' enthusiast. Rock climbing is
popular too, as is fishing on the Till or Tweed. Play golf at the
local club, or saddle up at one of the area's top riding
stables - Kimmerston - featuring a range of rides from countryside
hacks to beachside gallops.
Just outside town is the Fenton Centre, a visitor and heritage
centre offering that little bit more. Located on a working farm,
discover the area's cultural heritage and all about the
environment. Join a guided nature walk, view wildlife ponds, visit
the centre for Birds of Prey and watch the kids run wild in the
adventure play area - it's the ideal place to wear
'wellies' and have fun while you learn! A coffee shop and
art gallery complete the facilities.
Other day trips might include a trip to the Heritage Coast, The
Alnwick Garden or the historic battle site of Flodden Field.
So for the best of town and country, try a Wooler cottage!
