Welcome basket on arrival. Set in a quiet part of the village away from the crowds. Already booked a return visit.

"The cottage is really lovely and has all you need."
One thing we noted is that a couple of lights don’t work.
We had a very comfortable stay and did lots of hill walking, enjoying good food in the local pubs.

"Lovely cottage which was well equipped, beautifully furnished and in a lovely location."
The welcome included milk, bread, eggs butter and some biscuits. Parking wasn’t a problem for us as the adjoining cottage didn’t have a car parked in the courtyard. However, it was only a few minutes walk to the Bulls Head carpark for an alternative place to park. Would definitely book to stay here again.

"The cottage was lovely."
Well equipped and spacious with a lovely welcome package of milk, butter, bread and biscuits. Tea coffee and sugar were also available. Castleton is a delightful village. The cottage description mentioned a washing machine and tumble dryer which we presumed was in the shed but we could not get access so some explanation about this is necessary. It would be good to be told that maps and walking guides are available in the sideboard drawers because unless you ratch around you are not going to find them. A bit more storage for food would be good as two top shelves in the kitchen cupboards is no good if you can't reach them. just needs re-organisation of the cupboards. We really enjoyed our stay.

"The cottage was spacious, well equipped and in a good location."
We had problems with the hot water supply which was quickly resolved on contacting the owner.
The bedrooms which were downstairs were quite dark and cool even in August.

"This lovely cottage is in a great location to explore the Peak District."
Also there are several great places to eat in the village. We enjoyed having a meander around the village after a day exploring and our evening meal. The cottage was clean, well equipped and very comfortable, we would highly recommend it!

"Lovely and clean accommodation in a quiet corner of Castleton."
Exceptionally well equipped with high quality furnishings and fittings. Castleton is struggling with Covid restrictions and not all of the 8 pubs serve meals every day, due to shortage of chefs!! The shops and cafes also have strange opening hours, but I'm sure once restrictions are lifted, the village will return to normal working.
If you are walkers, there are countless footpaths across the hills. If you are sightseers like us, there is lots to see and do within 20 miles of the venue.

"It would have been helpful if the owner had left instructions for the hot water and heating and there had been a shower curtain or screen for the bath as there was never enough hot water to have a bath."
Otherwise it was a lovely place to stay and we would definitely like to come back

"The Old Workshop was an extremely pleasant stay."
Castleton is a fantastic village, and The Old Workshop couldn't be better placed right under Peveril Castle! Absolute beaut spot, and was perfect base for exploring the Peaks. If the villa next door is also occupied then parking can be a bit tricky especially with larger vehicles, but the Bulls Head is 90 seconds walk, so not too many issues there. The set up is interestingly planned out with bedrooms on the ground and living/kitchen upstairs. The cottage is modern and recently been done up, has all the amenities you need and is a great space to relax after a long day exploring. Only thing missing is a fire, but the Hive heating system was really quick and fast acting. Would deffo come back.

"Parking is very tight."
Anyone with a large family car would probably struggle to get past any car parked at the adjoining cottage.
A dishwasher would be very beneficial. NN141GJ

"The Old Workshop was immaculate, making us feel very safe in an uncertain time."
The upside down living worked very well, meaning a light and airy daytime space and cosy bedrooms.
The hosts had left lots of cleaning products for us to use, adding to our sense of security, and also left a range of fresh produce - milk, bread, eggs, tea and coffee which made us feel at home immediately.

"We have stayed at The Old Workshop before so we knew what to expect."
Highly recommended as is the next door Laburnum Cottage owned by the same people. Both are very spacious and comfortable. Central location in the beautiful village of Castleton and easy access to all the surrounding area has to offer. I am sure we will be revisiting again in the not too distant future.

It was very well presented with a good size kitchen containing everything you would need if cooking!
The lounge was large and comfortable and the two bedrooms were of a good size, each with an ensuite. We were left a welcome basket containing milk, butter, eggs and bread which was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend this accommodation.
