  • "We had a lovely week at Green Clough Farm."

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The cottage is comfortable and in an excellent location with lots of things to do within easy access. Parking was easy and we had everything that we needed. The farm shop within walking distance had fantastic produce. We will certainly stay here again.

  • "We rented this cottage for two weeks and my husband had to work from the cottage for this time and was very depended on internet access."

In that regard it was a good choice, the internet connection is excellent Parking was doable for a large car and good for a smaller car. Yes it is dark in the cottage, bit common, it is an old cottage so that is expectable What ws a prolem for us, is that you have little control on the central heating, not on when it is on/off or the set temperature. If you have to work from the cottage that is not very pleasant. You have to use the open fireplace or else teh cold wind comes in the house through the chimney. There was enough wood to use, but you have like a fireplace Everybody has preferences on the bed, soft/hard, but for us and two weeks the bed was hard. The hosts were vert friendly. Also the kitchen and pantry were good with enough utensils to use, some other cottages lack that often How to separate the garbage was taken care of, teh hosst took care of the separation, for non-UK residents that is excellent All in all the price/quality ratio is excellent, but will we return: no. But that has to do with us, we are reaching an age that we prefer, a little bigger cottage with all rooms on ground floor level and a little more comfort.

  • "The cottage was very difficult to find in the dark."

Yvonne had to come out onto the lane waving a torch! It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The welcome was superb - warmth, music, candles, chocolate and wine, and eggs and milk in the fridge. The views were spectacular with the snow, the driving less so!

The owners are lovely and they made us very welcome. There are a lot of extras, e.g. Milk, Eggs, Wine, Chocolates, Flowers and scented candles awaiting you when you arrive. As well as the heating being on and music playing. Would highly recommend.

We particularly liked the log burning fire which added to the cosiness of the house. We loved the fact that we were given chocolates and wine from the owners on our arrival and the kindness of them helping us light the fire. The bedroom was lovely and the shower very modern. The cottage is situated close to where we wanted to go and the views were lovely from the bedroom. We would recommend staying here for a relaxing few days. Very enjoyable.

The cottage was warm and welcoming, everything worked as expected, (but we couldn't turn on the TV in the bedroom) Overall a nice place to stay in the countryside.

  • "Wow!! A Simply lovely place, the pictures don't honestly do the place justice"

. It looks very oldy worldy but it is far from it. The kitchen, bathroom, living room and generally the house is excellent and well equipped - it even has Sky Sports......yes.... Sky Sports!! The location is lovely, the views are to die for and the walks around the area excellent. I met the owners on the first day and didn't need to see them again as I had everything I needed and the dog they have is gorgeous. Thornton is only a mile or so down the hill and this has shops and pubs etc. Do not pass this place up - its incredible and I can't wait to use it again.

  • "The photos don't give a real impression of the cottage: an example is photo nr 6."

It shows a light and airy living room, but the two small windows have net curtains you can't see through, behind them is an alley used by the owners to walk to their house, and on the other side of the narrow alley is a shed that blocks all the daylight. You need the lights on all day and there are no views at all. It Only one of the two small windows opens very slightly, providing the only possibility to let in some fresh air for the whole downstairs: no windows or ventilation in the kitchen. No ventilation in the utility room with drier, with windows you can't open or see through. The outside space is lovely, but the iron chairs not comfortabel to sit on. We were very glad we brought our own. Upstairs a nice spaced bedroom with a lovely view (if only this had been downstairs), nice shower room. Again only one windows that can be slightly opened. The downstairs carpet is old and filled with dirty marks. The rug was very dirty. The appliences were fine, everything we needed was there. The owners very lovely people welcoming us with a welcome tray. But had we known this we would not have booked for 3 weeks, we would not have booked it at all.

  • "Generally things are OK here."

But there are things that needed attention during our stay. The toilet system was overflowing and need attention, fixing this during our stay wasn't possible and the plumber couldn't come until Friday. We had to isolate the water during the night because of the noise this caused, we advised the owner on Saturday. Communication wasn't good, the owner didn't update me about this until I asked about it again. Sykes holidays didn't publish the fact that you have no view from the downstairs window because of an outbuilding there, the view is to be had from upstairs in the bedroom. It is dark inside with no kitchen windows and frosted windows in the gallery. If you're my height 5' 11" then you're likely to hit you head at some point with the low entry into the kitchen area, the "mind your head" sticker won't save you, soft protection is required. Cosy nights in were good and the garden was a pleasure to bestow... We've had numerous country cottage holidays that we have recommended, but for me I wouldn't with this one unfortunately.
