Giggleswick Cottages
Imagine booking a cottage in Giggleswick! Welcome to a
delightful Yorkshire village with a really quirky name, a small
ancient hamlet in the Yorkshire Dales, just a stone's throw
from the market town of Settle.
It's rather a famous place too, boasting an excellent public
school where you'll find a beautifully restored, Grade II
listed chapel with a unique copper dome and exquisitely decorated
interior - entrance is free. Giggleswick itself is a jumble of
colour-washed cottages, a 15th Century church, old market cross and
a couple of pubs.
For more pubs, restaurants, shops and more, simply walk into
Settle. And don't miss a trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway,
crossing the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct with its 24 arches - without
doubt one of Britain's most scenic routes through the Dales and
Eden Valley.
Great walks close to your Giggleswick cottage door…
Expect fantastic walking in and around Giggleswick. First stop
Giggleswick Scar, with its caves, cliffs and unusual ebbing and
flowing well. Other highlights include the challenging Three Peaks
Walk of Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Gent, Whernside, Gordale Scar, Malham
Cove and Ingleton Waterfalls. Cycling is another option, as are
fishing, horse riding and golf. Or do something different and book
a course at the award-winning Yorkshire Dales Falconry Centre and
experience close encounters with over fifty birds of prey from
around the world. Also close by is the National Nature Reserve at
Malham Tarn, protected by the National Trust and home to a wide
variety of rare animals and plants.
And remember a stay in a Giggleswick cottage is sure to
encourage lots of laughter and fun for everyone!
