As County Donegal's largest town, Letterkenny is an excellent destination for a cottage holiday in North West Ireland. Nestled on banks of the River Swilly, the town's central location make it a superb base for enjoying the major attractions which are on offer in County Donegal, including the dazzling Glenveagh National Park and the inspiring coves of Lough Swilly.

Whether you plan on venturing far from the town or not, a cottage holiday in Letterkenny offers a myriad of daytrip possibilities as well as endless opportunities for a good leg stretch. The town comprises a warren of narrow streets brimming with age-old trinket shops, appetising restaurants and traditional Irish pubs, making it the ideal place for an evening stroll.

If you'd prefer to travel a little further afield during your Letterkenny cottage holiday, there are a number of picturesque places that are well worth a visit. Just 13 miles west of the town lies the Glenveagh National Park, the second largest national park in Ireland and home to some of the country's most beloved panoramas. Ramble, cycle or kayak your way around over 40,000 acres of mountains, lakes, glens and woods, stopping only to take in the imposing vista of Glenveagh Castle.
