Why Plymouth?

Situated south of the Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley AONB along the south coast, Plymouth is surrounded by picturesque places and contains many attractions within the city itself. Take the Historic Bus Tour and trace the steps of Drake, Raleigh and other distinguished figures as you get to know this extraordinary seafaring port. Explore the immaculately restored Elizabethan Barbican, featuring stylish shops and trendy places to eat and drink in a lovely harbour setting. See the Mayflower Steps and learn all about the great expedition at the Mayflower Exhibition. Other big attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, Theatre Royal, Plymouth Gin Distillery, Plymouth Pavilions and a large cinema complex. Places to Visit near Plymouth

There are many interesting and beautiful areas around your Plymouth holiday cottage to explore. Why not go to Kingsand Beach in Southeast Cornwall? Find yourselves next door to a neighbouring beach at Cawsand overlooking gorgeous views of Plymouth Sound. Another Cornish town to see is Torpoint, the gateway to Cornwall, with a ferry connecting you to Devon that's been running since 1832. Visit Saltash and wander around the Heritage Trail or Saltash Museum for a fascinating day of local history. The larger and lively town of Tavistock is bustling with attractions and local independent shops, with its famous pannier market. Of course a popular choice for a day out is roaming the Dartmoor National Park and taking in the breath-taking scenery encompassing you, you may even spot the iconic Dartmoor Ponies, semi-wild herds all over the moor.
