Rustic cottages tend to be the ones we swoon over when flicking through a glossy magazine, often painted white or in a pastel shade, and sometimes topped with a charming thatched roof. Interiors overflow with character and attractive features like low beamed ceilings, uneven floorboards, stone-flagged kitchens and crackling log fires.
