If you are looking to escape to the beautiful landscape of the Brecon Beacons, a holiday cottage in Crickhowell is the ideal place to base your adventures. Idyllically placed in the Usk Valley, backed by Pen Cerrig-calch to the North with the Iron Age Hillfort of Crug Hywel perched on its summit, Crickhowell offers a scenic setting for your next holiday in rural Wales.

The settlement is a small, Georgian market town with a number of independent shops, cafes and ancient inns, as well as the remains of a motte-and-bailey castle that was built by the Normans. You'll never be short of things to do in the Brecon Beacons, and Crickhowell offers plenty of fantastic walking opportunities, making it the perfect destination for an active holiday. There are plenty of routes to follow around the Usk Valley, the nearby Black Mountains or the Brecon Beacons, with a variety of terrains and gradients to suit all levels of ability. Crickhowell lies on the Beacons Way, a 99-mile route that stretches from Abergavenny in Monmouthshire to Llangadog in Carmarthenshire. The route can take 8 days to complete or follow smaller sections in linear chunks.
