Ark Sailing
Learn to sail on Lake Windermere under the guidance of an instructor with 20 years of experience teaching watersports on Windermere.
Novices can book a two-day, level one RYA course that will ensure you have a basic understanding of keel-boat sailing. Areas covered include sailing across the wind, upwind and downwind as well as the function of some of the ropes and how to tie knots.
Following on from this you can complete RYA level two, three or, for experienced sailors, the RYA Seamanship Skills Course. This advanced course will teach you how to make seamanship decisions in moderate conditions, examples include dealing with a man overboard situation and effectively reefing afloat. There are also shorter courses on offer as well as those that can be taken on Ark Sailing’s boat or your own.
