Our Redcar Travel Guide includes… Places to stay, things to do and how to get to Redcar

Redcar is a seaside resort at the far north end of North Yorkshire’s coast, close to the city of Middlesbrough and near to the popular town of Whitby.

Redcar’s unusual name derives from the Scandinavian word ‘kjarr’, meaning marsh, and is thought to have originated because the town is built into low-level marshland.

There is an array of things to see and do on your Redcar holiday; with a selection of lovely sandy beaches to choose from, you can also head to the iconic Redcar Beacon, an 80ft-high building offering panoramic views of the town.

You can also spend the day at Kirkleatham Museum, appreciating artefacts from Anglo-Saxon times, while the Zetland Lifeboat Museum is home to the world’s oldest lifeboat, that is thought to have saved more than 500 lives.

However you choose to spend your time, find your holiday inspiration with our Redcar Travel Guide.
